Somebody said on there the default position is that any parent in this situation are innocent until proven guilty. However, due to the statistically high percentage of cases where a family member is guilty of something when crimes against children are involved the default position changes to family and parents needing to thoroughly investigated in order to be ruled out.

There is not one single piece of evidence in this case which points to an abduction or anyone else being in the apartment.

There is lots of things however which are consistent with the possibility a family member knows more than they have said.

There's no evidence of any crime have taken place and that's why both sides are just relying on supposition to try and support either their entrenched view of dislike or sympathy with the McCanns. Both an abduction or the McCanns being involved seem improbable given the lack of evidence of any crime having taken place but one has to be correct simply because it's very highly improbable that she went missing on her own.

The only thing that can be said with any certainty is that they were terrible parents.

Leaving two children alone might suggest no fear of an abductor. Not waking two children up might suggest that you medicated them to make sure they slept through the subsequent events of a particular night. Not searching for a missing child immediately might suggest there was no child to be found.

True, i am just amazed given the circumstances of this cases that theories other than an abductor have been ruled out by at least the British police and media.
By:

Have they though?  It's easy for the media to theorise about an 'unknown person' abducting her as opposed to theorising about the McCanns having committed a crime and there after being sued. As far as I'm aware the British police haven't ruled anything out and it's still an ongoing investigation and most recent lines of enquiry relate to looking for a body.

A voice of reason! Most of the posters on here are convinced that the McCanns and the rest of their group have somehow prevented the police from querying the stories.

Even the pope has destroyed all evidence of any confessions they might have made. Mind you, that part might be true 'cos he got right stroppy when a sight-seer asked "Who's that on the balcony with the McCanns?"
I reckon he burned all the evidence 'cos I remember the smoke coming out of the Vatican chimney. There must have been a lot 'cos it was smoking for ages! Devil

The Richard Hall video on YouTube is very disturbing. The evidence he produces is compelling. It certainly has put a doubt in my mind.

I don't bother watching them. The police have access to all available information (probably lots that the public are not aware of), and they haven't made any moves as yet.

Can you sum it up Facts? I previously watched something on Youtube for 15 minutes (doubt same thing) and it was just a case of pointing out slight inconsistencies in the timings  given in the statements between the witnesses.

The original investigators concluded the abduction was a hoax .This was a summary of their case ..........

http://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t59-the-interim-report-of-tavares-almeida-of-the-pj-10-september-2007

Far as i know none of them changed their minds about it .

With the police investigating it now - Scotland Yard's 'operation Grange' - it appears to be a very different outlook , but you have to consider how this came about ...

A report written for the home office by Jim Gamble ( a senior police officer ) recommended that the case be reopened on the basis that Madeleine was abducted . Why it came to this conclusion we haven't been told as the report itself is secret . Gamble though had involved himself in the case very early and had apparently sent the MCcanns police manuals on child abduction ,of the sort that members of the public would not have access to (these were found in a search of The McCanns apartment in Portugal ,the place they stayed in after the disappearance) . Gamble also - before writing this report - had very publically supported the parents and invited Gerry to speak at a police conference on child abduction .

So Gamble is a man who would look an almighty fool if the parents ended up being convicted . You have to wonder how open minded he was about the case when he came to write his report ( and wtf anyone would think a report by him was a sound basis for basing an investigation on )

This report gathered a bit of dust until The Sun (which has been 100% behind the parents all the way ) published an open letter by Kate to David Cameron demanding an investigation based on the Gamble abduction theory . This was at the time when Rebekah Brooks seemed to have some sort of hold on Cameron and so he duly ordered the Met to proceed with this . The review was headed up by Hamish Campbell  ( the man who 'solved' the Jill Dando murder by banging up Barry George ) , and , after Campbell retired , by Andy Redwood (also heavily involved in the Dando fiasco ) .

Both Campbell and Redwood stated that 'we are working on the theory of abduction ' , nothing else seems to be considered* .The best Redwood has come up with in 3 years so far is the 'burglary gone wrong theory'.... in which  3 burglars got in to the apartment , failed to take any of the laptops ,phones etc that were lying around , panicked when confronted by a 3 year old girl , and then either carried her screaming through the streets for some unfathomable reason , or else 'killed her to silence her' and then , erm , carried her dead body through the streets because ... erm Crazy

The 'evidence' against the burglars is that they made lots of calls to each other the night Madeleine disappeared ( i'd be more interested in suspects who deleted all their calls/texts history for the 4 days before the disappearance Whoops )

*some people think that Redwood is playing a Porphyrius Petrovitch/Columbo type game with the McCanns ; pretending to go along with abduction nonsense ,gradually ruling out the suspects one by one , before finally turning on them and the tapas crew . But he just seems like a mug to me .

Tober. Do you have any theories as to where and how they could have hid a dead body in the pace of 3 hours without it ever being discovered, it beats me.

It's difficult . Unless they had considerably more time . I accept some witness statements would have to be wrong to enable the greater timespan (though the David Payne one seems quite dodgy to say the least )

Then again if you analyze all the checks they were apparently doing , the comings and goings from the restaraunt to the apartment and back , if they are as stated , the abductor has about 3 minutes to get in and out and away without being seen.

As Shrewd Dude says , it seems almost impossible for either the cover up or the abduction , which is why it is so intrguing .

There are three parts to the full investigative report. Focuses on massive inconsistencies in testimonies from all parties. Goes into detail about alleged abduction statements .

Most damning piece for me  surrounds the findings of the sniffer dogs.

I reckon he burned all the evidence 'cos I remember the smoke coming out of the Vatican chimney. There must have been a lot 'cos it was smoking for ages!

Just over three weeks after Madeleine ‘disappeared’, the McCanns met with the Pope, Benedict XVI, who publicly blessed a photograph of Madeleine before the world’s media.

The Vatican thereafter carried very prominent pages on their website featuring the McCanns and their emotional search for Madeleine. The McCanns had frequently made their ‘strong Catholic faith’ very much an issue, and were frequently described as ‘devout Catholics’.

Yet 48 hours before the McCanns were made formal suspects, the Pope withdrew all references to Madeleine.

No further references to the McCanns’ campaign and their fund to ‘find Madeleine’ have been made on the Vatican website since then.

It seemed to many seasoned observers of the Roman Catholic Church that the Pope had received strong indications that the McCanns’ abduction claim did not stand up.

All I can say to that amateur documentary is
"We do not request any payment for showing these films, but if you would like to make a voluntary contribution to fund future productions, then please visit www.richplanet.net/donate"

How incredibly distasteful, trying to make money of the back of wheat he believes to be a dead child.
There is no doubt that the Tapas 9 are full of contradictions, but trying to remember small details what at the time would have seemed significant is hardly surprising, it could also be said, that maybe they did try to make it look like David Payne had seen her last at 6:30 to take the pressure and spotlight off them as suspects, but backfiring.

Still, what we do know, and what you have to come back to, is that, 'officially' she was last seen at 5:30pm when she was picked up form the kids club, they left for the bar at 8:30pm, with all the theories people have come up with to pin them down, nobody ever draws attention to the very short time span they had between an apparent death and disposal of a child's body in an unfamiliar area. Nobody wants to talk about the implausibility of covering up an accidental death and then contacting sky to broadcast itCrazy

There's so many inconsistencies .Why did the McCanns insist that the window shutters had been forced open and entry/exit had been made by ' the intruder ' in this way. When later photographs showed no damage whatsoever to the blinds, their statements changed to entry via the unlocked patio door.

The content of this web report is very similar to the one I mentioned. It just confirms in my mind that there is so many inconsistencies. But what I don't understand is why these obvious anomalies haven't been investigated by uk police. It beggars belief. In any other case this would have ended up,in a trial by jury.

Facts I'm not going to bother watching that video but thanks for posting. It looks like the same guy on the 15 minutes of video I watched before (probably another part). I turned it off when when the guy suggested that saying err a number of times in an interview recalling an event from 11 months ago meant a person wasn't telling the truth as it meant they were thinking to hard. A truthful interview should flow. What a load of bollocks.

I'll read the article later sometime once racing and football done. I'm not going to waste time watching a video though that tries to suggest nonsensical conclusions like that from an interview in the first 15 minutes. But what evidence are you speaking of which would lead to them being prosecuted?
By:

He was going on about and fixating on Kate McCann citing the door closing on her as she claimed the window was open and was blowing the curtains forward which were drawn, but police photograph showed them apart and the right side of the blind being drawn a bit further than the left so how could they have been drawn in the first place, "it must have been staged"...............how about she noticed her daughter was missing and the first thing you would do is pull the blind back and look straight out the window, this fella has actually flown to Portugal to make this documentary as he is sick of the media protecting the mccanns, I;d be more worried about the obsession and dedication he has on this.
