Neutral Milk Hotel last night at the Manchester Albert Hall was one of the best gigs I've ever been to, in fact it probably was THE best and I don't say that lightly. An astonishing performance at a fantastic venue...unbelievable atmosphere I guess because like me the 2000 or so in attendance never really believed they'd get the chance to see it. Going to have to go and see them in Leeds in August now. Heartily recommend catching them before they disappear again.

I heard an ad for the upcoming Madness tour in December on TalkSport this afternoon and had a look at the site they told you to go to to see if they were appearing here.
No chance, of course. I then searched for anyone touring here - and still not a thing! It didn't used to be like that in Stoke-on-Trent. The Victoria Hall is reputed to be one of the best venues for acoustics in the UK and we used to get all the main bands touring here. If anyone else wants to check out who's appearing in their vicinity, here's the link: http://www.gigsandtours.com/latestevents |

true that Tommy, decent gigs few and far between round these parts nowadays. The demise of Mike Lloyd Music maybe played a part? Nobody doing any promoting these days. It's not like gigs weren't well attended.

Indeed, Alabaster. It's unbelievable really how Stoke just seems to have been totally forgotten about by anyone planning a tour these days when it always used to be so well serviced and gigs were always sold out.

Lucky you! Love Eels. Saw Echo and the Bunnymen at Shepherd's Bush Empire a couple of weeks ago. I thought they were very professional, putting on a good show without trying too hard. Played Killing Moon and the Cutter back to back and McCullock still has a very good voice.

The Dandy Warhols were brilliant the other night Pixie, played like a greatest hits set, a very original band.
|
|
By:
Yeah, I knew you'd like them and as I said earlier, they were great craic when I saw them ages ago. Big outdoor events (like British Summer Time) are an entirely different experience and not half as enjoyable imo. I'd much prefer to watch one band doing a set in a venue holding no more than a couple of thousand people than these big festival type things.
