Saw the damned in Warrington last night and they were surprisingly very good. Played the obvious favourites, new rose and Eloise, but standing on the edge and the morrissey inspired I'm not miserable anymore are worth checking out

I saw Jesse Dayton in Bristol last night - He put on a great show.

If you're interested in Americana he's definitely worth seeing.

Saw Van Morrison and Robert Plant last week. Plant was superb, did a twenty minute version of 'Babe I'm gunna leave you' which was fantastic and finished on 'Whole lotta love'.

Went to the Pixies on Friday night at The Roundhouse and as usual they were very good, although I didn't like the pretentious rubbish at the start which went on far too long about the album covers.

Morteh Mackem, Van the man was good but his music is sooo smooooooth I don't think it lends itself well to live music, more like late night hotel bars. He still has a fine set of lungs and there is no weak link in a superbly tight band - the piano/trumpet player was especially good (just looked him up and I think he's called Paul Moran). He is still very much Van the Man, though, absolutely superb but I would have to say Robert Plant was more fun and more to my taste. Van Morrison 9/10, Robert Plant 10/10.

Saw Eddie Izzard on Saturday. His old Prep school, here, for a Work In Progress show.
80-90 people in a tiny school theatre. He did about 90 minutes non-stop and didn't bother with a stage.
Was about 5 feet in front of me and my better half, in the front row.

Looking forward to Martin Stephenson and the Daintees in Brighton on Wed night.
Playing one of his old albums from the 80s.

I just saw Imagination at the Lambeth Country Fair in Brockwell Park, they were truly dire beyond words.

This coming Wednesday, Madness after racing at Sandown Park. I'm looking forward to the racing as I love Sandown but I'm not really a big fan of Madnesss to put it mildly but it is forecast to be about 30C so a few cold ones and 2 or 3 winners and I'm sure I'll have a good evening in the sunshine.
