I was supposed to go to the Damned a couple of weeks ago but missed it to go to the General Betting Xmas drinks - A good choice apparently as two people told me separately that they were crap. I saw the Subhumans last night - as excellent as ever |

Gin: I've never seen them, but here's a post i made on the Everton fred..
guinness2dear 20 Sep 13 14:43 Went with the Da to the 1980 semi at Villa Park against the ammers. I remember he couldn't get a pint for about a mile outside the ground. Eventually got one at some boozer with a massive car park. A West Ham coach pulled up, already loads of blues there, and we feared the worse, but actually was a great hour or two. He got talking to a couple of ammers who said they were in a band called The Cockney Rejects (?) never thought more of it especially as all the way home all the Da wanted to do was nutt Brian Kidd. But lo and behold a couple of weeks later watching Top of The Pops, who comes on but The Cockney Rejects.. |

Tracking 218 artists on Songkick and only 1 playing in Leeds in Jan! Frustrated to have missed Wooden Shjips at the Brude as I'm a big fan of Moon Duo. |

"yardbirds, animals etc, stevenage jan 24th," Going to that one on the 29th at Bristol Colston Hall - and Van Morrison the night before. That R & B show, Zombies, Animals, Yardbirds, Spencer Davis, Maggie Bell. (I don't think there is a single original member in The Animals (?) so really they should be touring as a tribute band. Not sure about the other groups but surely only 1 or 2 original members left in any line-up. Anyway, have to go to Bristol for 3 days and those 2 shows are on. |

kansas, Wooden Shjips were awesome, be good if Moon Duo play the Brude again, missed em last time but a big fan

went to 2 last week in Bristol, Van Morrison, he was pretty good, but didn't sing many of his classic songs, and unlike Dylan and McCartney his voice is still strong, but the days are long gone when he would put every last bit of emotion into his performances. And in the large 2,000 seater Colston Hall (not a complete sell-out) it had the feel of being in a small jazz club (2 pics below).
There is usually no inter-action with the audience at a VM concert, but maybe having his daughter on stage as a backing singer brought out a softer side of him, he was actually talking between songs and even had a stab at some humour with a couple of jokes. If only he had done more of his classic stuff it would have been a brilliant concert. The next night it was the R & B 50th Anniversary tour, Zombies, Animals, Yardbirds. Spencer Davis was also billed but he just had a stroke and Dave Berry filled in. Not sure how many original members in those groups, I know The Yardbirds have had several reincarnations but they were very good with a few younger members now. Also on the show was Maggie Bell - got a bit confused here because I was expecting the coloured singer from Blue Mink (but maybe that was Madelaine Bell ?) this was a white scottish singer. And the only original member of The Animals was the drummer but they were good. Enjoyed the show. [ This image is no longer available. ] [ This image is no longer available. ] |

Gnarley, went to the sing-a-long-a-frank show tonight! A bit hoarse now, I'm sure you'll enjoy! Let me know if Plymouth beats Manchester at "Recovery"
|

By:
Good to hear JBNAY.
Plymouth wont outdo Manchester at anything, let alone "Recovery" - although we can dance alright! How were Flogging Molly? Seem like an overly sanitised Dropkicks to me (from Utube watches), hope they bring something to the party. |
