Don't call the police instead ring the press/Sky News to say a British child has been abducted in Portugal so the immediate news release is about an abduction and that sows the first seed in peoples minds." That was odd that they done that. Lot of answered questions. And all this recent stuff in the papers and the Crimewatch programme, there is no real new developments or certainly nothing positive, so was it all designed to study the McCanns (?) |

I'm pretty sure I know who I would ring first if something happened to me in Portugal. From experience I wouldn't ring the police. They are completely useless. And so they have proved once again in this case.

I think the locals were already involved from the first minute. Don't the Portugese Police work in conjuction with the Greek Police? Another completely useless waste of time and money. No wonder the groups that assemble there en mass do so.

Did I say that? You are in a quiet resort in Portugal and you get mugged at night. The resorts are flooded with pick pockets and thieves who know the Police are useless and who spread out to the quieter resorts at night. You ring the Police for help, no-one there speaks English. You ring the consulate and there is no-one can help till the morning. Basically you are stuffed.

The problem is you don't know because if you knew you wouldn't go and the Police and Local Authorities know that. The Yanks know and warn their citizens specifically but being a holiday resort reliant on holiday makers it would crucify trade if the crime rate was disclosed.
The popular resorts are worse where gangs of pick pockets operate, many are from Romania, and the Police are powerless to do anything about them. |

Why would you delete all messages on your mobile the day after your child went missing. Pretty certain the messages were deleted because the child went missing and would not have been deleted otherwise. That's not to say there was anything incriminating in those messages but are a few possibly embarrassing text messages more important than finding your child.

This new girl they have discovered in Greece apparently there have been 8,000 enquiries. This is a problem that has had the lid kept on it for too long by resorts and local Police simply because the resort would die.
I have had first hand experience of the Portugese Police and I can tell you they are not the least bit interested in tourist problems however grave. My advice don't go to the place at all. Anyway this is obviously a thread for the deluded who prefer to blame the victim than the perpetrator and the Police. Until something happens to them of course. So I'm off. |

Paddle. Just a final thought. When you text message memory is full it rejects incoming messages. At a time like that with potential messages coming in from everywhere would you keep messages that were of no use?

Lets just say X, someone's son and girlfriend went on holiday to Portugal. On the way back to their hotel they drew some cash out of an ATM then walk back to the hotel. They were jumped on forced down a side alley and robbed and roughed up a bit by at least 4 blokes. They had a local Police number to ring but it just rang so he rang his Dad. You couldn't imagine receiving that call. You try the Police yourself and when you eventually get through no-one speaks English. You ring the consulate but there is no-one there until the morning but your message will be passed on. What do you do? I'll tell you what you do. You don't ever go to Portugal or Greece until they sort it out.

The McCanns can't be all that happy at present. Jane Tanner's swarthy abductor, for years the cornerstone of their abduction theory, has been dismissed - to be replaced by a sighting of a man with a child identified as being Gerry McCann with 60-80% certainty. Expect global sightings of little blonde girls to hit the red-tops in the next couple of weeks to swing momentum in the preferred direction. ..and as if by magic.....the grrek roam story emerges.... YIKES. |

ive always found greek police to be great, as good if not better than our own when required
portugal.....never been, dont know i cant imagine deleting messages incase id missed one or there was something important perhaps he did not use his phone to phone police incase somebody out searching had news theres loads of explanations i suppose, but they just want us to help on their terms at some future point the twins will turn to their parents and say, did you really leave us unattendended that night when madeline went missing... i hope they have sorted out some answers by then |

I wasn't hinting at hypocrisy more that there is something that draws people to this thread (some would call it a morbid interest) and lots of people, myself included, would hope that Madeleine could be found safe and well. I fwiw don't subscribe to any of the theories but would never totally discount them either. The mccanns actions in the aftermath of Madeleine's disappearance need proper explanation as does the involvement of the government (D notices) and the British press (seemingly biased reporting) I come hoping to see some explanation for these points. |

Please don't tell me that you are NOT the jury and they are NOT the accused...I would have to differ. ..don't know for sure if this entry classifies as a criminal record but lets assume it does. ..there is no jury naydam.....and there is no judge...and there is no trial...why???? because the McCanns fled Portugal 2 days after they made arguidos and have refused to answer questions ever since. They cite its an ongoing investigation and will hamper the search for this stance In this context...the fact there is no trial.. Criminal Records are considered public documents. |

having watched skys update again i think an earlier post talking abiut a double bluff is a deffo runner,
discussing the reconctruction of the irish sighting[actor double of gerry,mcaans must have had an early preview, but agreed to let it go on tv] the child crime expert on sky who was used extensively at the time of the case in portugal, said the efits were old efits and the police were even given names for them[gerry]perhaps at the end of the show they said the only way this will be solved is if someone is brave enough to comeforward and tell what they no[tapas 9].surely wouldnt be appealing to any abductors seemed completly different to the bbc love in , maybe sky felt their noses were put out of joint by crimewatch getting the jump on them,but throughout the programme there was deffo littlebits of inuendo |

 the bbc is the official gov propaganda station but they now have competition for that spot. i think we can safely discount anything from the established media sources in this country when it comes to this case. the subterfuge and confusion will spin out of control ....seatbelts on |

This whole abduction operation would clearly have been more difficult if Madeleine had woken up whilst being abducted, or one or both twins had woken up. So did she sleep through the entire abduction (?)
