i am sure a few on here could verify that in the 60's (although personally I wasn't born) people left their kids sleeping in their Butlins cabins whilst they went to enjoy the entertainment, well away from any line of sight.

My parents certainly would have - what's interesting is the people condemning their supposed negligence are the same people merrily spreading suggestions the McCann's killed their child, and are the same people attempting to distort the events of the night, by describing going for a meal as going out on the piss. Jealousy is never pretty, but to slander the parents of a missing child, that's pretty nasty stuff.

different times easy..
people were nothing like aware that they are now of the dangers My own take on this, this quest as someone put it is a quest by the McCanns to assuage their own personal guilt they feel because they left Madeleine alone when they should not have If they find her alive ...they will feel forgiven for the sake of Madeleine, not them, I hope they succeed But is it likely? I feel they must admit their own guilt of neglect, they only need to do it to themselves only then ... will they find absolution, forgiveness, peace of mind of a sort They have 2 other children to look other so they need to stop this quest anyway..leave it to the police because they are in in danger of bringing up children who may feel ashamed to be alive they have the ghost of madeleine hanging over them The MacCanns must come to terms with this and close the book for the sake of their 2 remaining children |

Nope! :-) If you're gonna post lies about the parents of a missing child I'm afraid I'll always be here.

clunge you seem to assume that she was definitely abducted.
why couldn't it have been an accidental death. what convinces you that it was abduction? |

what are the McCann knockers jealous of, exactly? |
|
By:
No Dystyle, I don't.

SF, I wouldn't lump them all under one particular failing, but those so malicious as to assert they were on the piss when they had, as widely known and reported, been out for a meal with friends, are I suspect mostly just jealous of people who've found a partner.
|
|
By:
i'm not sure what you're arguing about really?
a kid went missing, the parents were not that responsible and in hindsight (providing they didn't kill her) learned a really harsh lesson if they do turn out to be guilty they deserve everything they get, but so much of this case is just plain bizarre, so much so that you can almost believe they were just plain unlucky and some loon either just found the opportunity or they were targeted unless they confess or the case breaks open this will just run, personally as a father i have to give them the benefit because i can't imagine trying to hide the body of your child, whether it be an accident or deliberate death, it bears no thinking about |

It would appear that a lot of the people tending to disagree with you, are parents, like me. I seem to recall that a newspaper reporter got a copy of their restaurant bill. Dinner it may have been at the start, but the wine bill was more than enough for what I call a social evening. We know what you call a social evening, when the booze runs out, and you're found in Hanley Park with your trousers round your ankles. ![]() |

squeezeI think it was my term on the piss upset him squeeze middle class people don't do that, it is always the meal with friends the parents were not that responsible I don't agree with that elise, sorry |

It`s a tragic case and I wouldn`t like to comment on it. All I hope is that they find that little girl and reunite her with her family.
Only thing I would say is that if a they had been a working class couple the press would have crucified them. 100% guilty of negligence. |

By:
a possibility squeeze
![]() I think the MacCanns will get an easier time, when they finally admit they should not have left them unattended |

I think you all mean that IN YOUR OPINION the press would have slated them. Well, in MY opinion, they wouldn't. So that's that cancelled out, innit? Unless, of course, one of you is Rupert Murdoch.
I don't know for fact, but I'm pretty sure that they will have accepted and 'admitted to themselves' immediately that they should not have left the kids...none of them should. I don't see why, as doctors, they should have been any more aware of the dangers of leaving the kids than any other couple of parents. Medical knowledge is not necessarily indicative of real-world parenting nous. |
|
By:
If only the McCanns had admitted to begin with, that they were at fault leaving their children alone
...they had made a terrible mistake..... then in view of what happened... I would have forgiven them myself But we/I were not allowed. Because of this ridiculous quest to find Madeleine alive is there any evidence at all for this? Instead the McCanns have admitted no guilt and have made themselves look 100% the victims.. so they will never get my forgiveness If it was accidental death, they may still have got my forgiveness after due punishment but not now |

Jealousy is never pretty, but to slander the parents of a missing child, that's pretty nasty stuff. Tbf, I think only two peoople have suggested the McCanns did it and, as SF points out, most of us calling them negligent are parents ourselves. None of us perfect, I'm sure, but I hope none of us would leave our infants on their own while we went out. Whether they went to Starbucks or Wetherspoons is irrelevant. |

Very odd that there was no baby-sitter/minder.
Who in their right mind would leave three very young children on their own anywhere? No-one I know. Loads of respectable, vetted agencies in that area - loads of students/local young adults who would have sat in with the kids for just a few Euros. Such a sad story. ![]() |

its been told that maddie the previous nights had woken up in the apartment while the mccanns were out, and she begged them not to leave her alone again, they did. imo she was sedated and died, and knowing the consequences of what they did, they both had to cover it up.

Press treated the Mccaans appaulingly. Accept the working class
thing, but it doesnt help when that other girl went missing that they'd made it up and found her under a relatives bed. If they were guilty of negligence then so are virtually 95% of the rest of britains parents. |

The McCanns went out boozing every night - one night the lady in the apartment above heard Maddie crying for an hour until they stumbled back home. The night she vanished the friend supposedly doing the checking didn't even notice whether she was there. The children were put in the creche every day - for as long as it was open. Call me old fashioned but family holidays in my family have never been like that. Dreadful for them if their daughter really was abducted and they had nothing to do with it they must be wracked with guilt.

these posts from elisjohn and A_T I find very hard to read...jesus
and elisjohn's post has a horrible ring of truth to it even though not yet proved at present I really hope the truth comes out whatever it is I have put down those who defend the McCanns as not being parents themselves. My views actually came from a couple of parents I spoke to, their first words 'Why on earth where they left on the own' So I feel they are most certainly guilty of the lesser offence if not the major one.. |

Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said:
"I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after. "Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There's just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine's disappearance. "If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child. "Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn't have done it. And I was there and I know they didn't do it." |

Fiona Payne: 'Kate McCann kept putting her hands on the twins to check if they were breathing'
1485 “Did the twins wake up at all?” Reply “They didn’t. They didn’t”. 1485 “In the aftermath?” Reply “No, and that was the other thing, she kept going into the twins, she kept putting her hands on the twins to check they were breathing, she was very much concerned in checking that they were okay. But they were okay, I mean, they were fine, they didn’t, they were asleep, but at the time it did seem weird, I remember thinking, you know, when the Police came they turned the lights on, there was loads of noise, obviously from the moment Kate discovered that Madeleine was gone, the screaming and the shouting and there was a lot of noise and they, they didn’t, you know, so much as blink”. . http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2009/10/fiona-payne-kate-mccann-kept-putting.html |

she was there
![]() she was in the room all the time looking after them ![]() ![]() knowing what to do to resuscitate a child and resuscitating are not the same thing for instance if she been dead for a while and perhaps they may not have wanted the other medics to know they had medicated them and left them on their own seems a possibility ![]() |

As a single parent i knew that there is NO LAW as to leaving a child alone..............its whatever is deemed reasonable or unreasonable........I also led to believe that there was an in-house nanny abt £25 on site............as at Butlins.........where it was free
|
|
By:
as you say mange...resuscitating has to be done at the point of death..
if you leave them for a while they don't come back although it has been done if you can lower their body temperature to extremely cold levels at the point of death where they were was not cold |
|
By:
two doctors must have been well off
why not just pay the £25 ...Madeleine would still be alive |
|

We must say know-one knows
Since this thread was posted children around the world have died and prob some gone missing. MY BEEF IS................there are traumatized British families that have children missing relying on chatities..........whilst millions of pounds (public money) come there way................... |
