All parents leave their children unattended, so yes, rather than saying they are responsible for their daughter's death, and making up nonsense about them going 'on the piss' I'd blame whoever killed her, if she is indeed dead.

^^^ so would I. But leaving kids alone what were they thinking in a strange place and all. If they were dolites they'd be hung drawn and quartered.

wrong to say all parents, especially in a hotel room at that age, i wouldn't & don't think any of the people i know with kids would either

when they were that age i'd have a 2 room suite or a villa, wouldn't be left alone, either baby sitter or stayed with us, they were never left alone

No excuse to leave 3 babies alone while you go for dinner, whatever way you try dress it up.
By:

When: 05 Jul 13 20:27
no, you'd stay or take turns or get a babysitter

I'm sure my parents took greater risks with me. Not saying they were wise to do so.

But what level of jealousy and malice makes someone attempt to distort a story of parents who have lost their child, into one where they went 'on the piss'? I'm not saying they're the best parents in the world, but that's pretty weird and nasty.

Which draws to the conclusion that there was a problem in that family. How could two doctors be so inept?Money was not an issue so why take a chance? Was there physcological problems present? Was the child already dead by this stage? Many questions no answers.

My parents the same, they, well my mum anyway, still does. I usually keep our door locked as I've lodgers, but the level of crime is so low it's a bit of a farce. The posties have it right, they just leave stuff on the doorstep if you're not in!

where we live i'd say it's pretty much as safe a place as i could raise my kids, but i still wouldn't leave my door unlocked at night

Doesn't matter whether they were on the piss or at an AA meeting - they shouldn't have left them on their own.

It is something that all parents do, albeit probably for different reasons. I can recall being left in the car with a bottle of 'pop' and a packet of crisps. Who can't?

Me.

We never had the money to go to Butlins, never mind a luxury resort in Portugal.

But even on a day out in Southend in the late 50s and early 60s, or a week in Weymouth on a camp site, my dad was there for me and my sister, all the time.

Agree with the MD'H - I don't know the legalities of the situation but if they were't both GP's I think they would have been charged with negligence at the very least. Leaving 3 kids under the age of 3 alone is a crime. I wouldn't even walk to the corner shop on a Sat morning and leave my kids alone and they're 6 and 8.

But if they're not guilty of anything worse, they'll live with the guilt of what they did for the rest of their lives and if they're guilty of worse I hope they get caught.

This new evidence is probably nothing - if it meant anything the Portuguese plod would be acting on it. After his triumph in the Dando investigation Redwood and his squad of crack detectives are probably thoroughly enjoying their jollies to the Algarve and want the gravy train to continue.

It would be be prosecuted more often if not invented.

Whatever I did in my adult life was all my decision. My dad had no bearing on any of it.
And I have never left my children alone when on holidays, or just days out.
When you get kids of your own (unlikely I know) you may feel differently.

Clungehungry, is it not a crime then?

Don't know you but would you leave three children under the age of 3 alone whilst you and the(very lucky) Mrs CH went out for a couple of bottles of Rose and a pork chop?

I thought a child had to be 14 to be left alone and 16 if in caring for another. Your law degree clearly knows better, Elaborate please?

It's against the law these days to leave children at home under the age of 14 with no child minder.

That's nonsense SF, all parents leave their kids alone. I'm sure you did, I don't imagine for a second they shared a room with you until they were 15.

If you believe they've broken the law by all means bring a private prosecution.

Well, if you know a potential child nabber who was prepared to climb 19 floors to get to them, you should have let the police know.

Leaving them alone at some point before they turn 15 is very different to leaving 3 toddlers unattended in your room while you go out for the evening. At best they were completely irresponsible. Your earlier comparison with James Bulger's mum is obviously also complete nonsense, it's just a completely different scenario.

I cant get it up

I think the Portuguese Police may have always suspected this..
but their forensics was not good enough

I have one scenario 'medication' either legal or illegal, left about the apartment
Madeleine scoffed them she thought they were sweets
they knew they were in deep trouble
that is just a guess though

CH

Have you actually got children and, if so, how many and how old?

Leaving your children alone at 12,13, etc may be potentially ok depending on the maturity of the child, how long, day time, night time etc but you can tell them not to answer the door, the phone etc.

3 and 2*1 is totally unacceptable.

On this particular topic your faithfulness to Mrs CH is not in question. Your potential ability as a father is massively in question.

Can't be arsed mcguinty, sorry.  I am still bemused that the odious kevbettingsuperstar has completely misstated what the police said yesterday and sent you all into keyboard rage.

But that youtube clip is meaningless.  His sister was stating what she understood was to happen, not what should happen.
