wish her happy birthday and happy xmas, are you mental?

the night of her birthday he should "accidentally" be photographed stuffing a 50 in a lap dancers g-string imo and for xmas she should get a photo of him and his mates spit roasting a couple of hookers in tenerife imvho

Do not take the womens advise on here "When I say stay friends I mean maybe wish her happy birthday, merry xmas etc" - what a crock of shyte.

Women like to keep their options open, so remaining friends with a dumped boyfriend puts them in a position of power knowing you will take them back at the drop of a hat. Also you will always think you are in with a shout of getting back with her.

If she sees you falling apart she will lose any respect she had for you. Try to be indifferent.

If she wants you back she will come to you.

btw how old is the mother?

if young enough, a grainy mobile phone snap of you giving her 1 in the pink and 1 in the stink might give good closure for both parties.

nice to see that i "must be bitter", cos i say have nothing to do with her.

im not bitter at all, ive never had anybody dump me in my entire life. almost all have been equal decisions to end it, a few ive made the decision when the girl hasnt wanted to end it. im not vaguely bitter, i just view my life as my life and not belonging to some woman when she thinks im worthy then to rip me apart when she doesnt.

i dont mean be nasty to her, i just mean oh ok thanks for the good times bye then have a nice life. like i said annie is the typical woman, thinks its all about her. oooh poor bitter twisted men lol. women just cant accept there are men out there that are much stronger mentally and emotionally than they are.

tbf bob,you do come across as monumentally self centred and are probably better off on your own?

its like when i get random women talking, smiling or waving at me. they obviously know me, but ive got no idea who the hell they are. the look of confusion in their eyes is priceless, they can never get their head round the fact i cant even vaguely remember them. women always think they are the most important thing in the world. that they are etched in your mind, heart and soul for eternity. i cant remember someone i went out with a few times years ago ffs, get real.

Mr Eboue
Put yourself first.

Have a break of 4-6 weeks at least from her. You are the one that needs to adjust, she has made her decision.

You are still very young, enjoy dating and meeting people.
Stay away, she made the decision, you have no obligation to ween her off the relationship.

thanks patrick, i'll take that as a compliment.

id much rather be self-centred than the "be a real man but be my doormat" that most woman are conditioned to get their claws into.

i probably am better on my own. i am alone anyway. i never feel anything but alone when im in a relationship, cos thats how i prefer it. im not a team player. i never ask anybody to enter my life. if someone wants to enter my life, thats their decision. ive never made the first move in my life. if girls/women didnt approach me, i would never bother approaching them. i make it clear i dont do the whole romance and marriage bit, its not like i deceive anybody.

im with the feminists, i 100% believe in equality. you live your life, i'll live mine. you want stuff, work and buy it yourself just like i do. it usually ends when they ask me where its going and i say erm nowhere. then we make a decision to end it. i did say that in the first place. but i guess women are so used to men being overpowered by their charms they dont believe me when i say it.

Feel for you mr e.

Had a similar thing when I split up with the wife. Couldn't even think straight for a year. It gets easier though.

Chin up mate.

Some good advice for you on here Mr E. What you may want is for her to rush through the door and beg your forgiveness because it was all a terrible mistake. The crucial point to remember is that you aren't in control of that and you never will be. Therefore you have to control what you can and at the moment that has to be the healing process. In a way see it as a kind of bereavement. You have to acknowledge the loss, feel the pain, feel the anger and despair before you come to terms with it. She can' see any of that. If you can't help but bumping into her in your town then the best place for you is on that holiday. As someone said her respect for you as a man may be dented if you can't control yourself. At best she may pity you and at worst she may be embarrassed by you. Annie's advice can work in some circumstances but I think at the moment you are probably too raw.

If your hope is to get her back then dig in for the long haul. The only card you have to play is to confound her likely expectations and that involves you being nice to her but very unavailable. Which is probably the best coping strategy in the short term anyway and in the future it will allow you to look back on your time together fondly rather thinking how badly it ended.

It just shows you that you know nothing about women, sideshowbob.

....that's obvious.

Everyone is different with regards to recovering from a break up.My girlfriend broke up with me 18 months ago. I still miss her. Not as much - time does heal.Tried to be friends - didn't work - it just causes pain. You want a different type of relationship from them.A clean break is best - its hard - but for the best. There will come a day when you actually don't think about her - but be prepared for a long haul. There are many books on the subject of how to handle a breakup. And the Internet is full of stuff. 90% is crap. The rest is common sense - and that helps you feel less of a victim.
Time is what it takes. If you meet someone else that will obviously help. But don't 'force it'And any advice that suggests just go out for sex is as shallow as it sounds.

The advice iv seen on here is well meant!(well, most of it!),but the only thing that anyone ever listens to is their own heart!Iv seen workmates of mine taken for fools by women and still taken them back!Everyone has their own way of dealing with this stuff, and to some it may seem soppy,or call it what you like, but  we are all different. Its the worst feeling in the world at the time and does get better, but time is what most people need!.

Mr E. Whilst this wont help so sorry, but I have had a theory for years that 'them' have two stages of life when they seem to re-evaluate their life, 21-25 and 42-48 ish. The amount of divorces/split-ups in that age range of the woman is incredible, so much so that if anyone tells me they have split, I'll guess the womans age even if never meeting her. There is definately a case for this and it may be hormonal, or some sort of strange affect but they seem to re-evaluiate just what they are doing with you and generally think their life needs to go in other directions.

Happened to me when my gf of 6 years was 25, happened to loads of our friends, sons and daughters of, etc.

Nope, doesnt help, just letting you know they are all mad and find one between 26 and 40 in my view.

Sorry to hear this Mr E. I had a similar thing.

Things to remember
- You always want things much more if you can't have em
- First few weeks will be the most difficult but it does get better
- Don't make first contact - appearing like a puppy/needy will be very off putting for her
- Hard as it is there are plenty more fish/whales in the sea

Chin up fella
