Should the 600 calories be consumed at one meal or can you have a few meals as long as total consumption doesn't go over 600?

I've never drank on fast days Capt. Bit sad but I worked my diet around the fact I drink Friday and Monday which is £1.85 a pint and would be rude to not take advantage of. Occasionally I have a drink on a Saturday.

Thanks Bigmo. That's how I understood it but a mate of mine said you could only have one meal as it was important to give your body a rest.

started this yesterday and noticed i had bit of bad breath through the day, is this from not eating much?  all i had through the day was piece of fish with some veg, bout 400 calories and i drank weak squash through day.

Bad breath is more associated with a longer complete fast and is probably caused by the body getting rid of rubbish.

Six weeks into i/f and can report a further weight loss of 3lb and the other half lost one lb ( shes a bit disappointed with such a small loss but she does little or no exercise where as i walk the dog for an hour each day and play golf at least two times per week).Marked on my calender is my weight on the 18th April (14/2lbs)..i now weigh 11/11.Slimming world gave me the start and i lost just over a stone but got fed up necking mullerfckinglight yogurts so i gave that up.
Wednesday morning feels like christmas day each week and that first cup of coffee with milk and sugar tastes like absolute nectar. The most amazing thing about this regime is the amount i eat on feeding days and yet im still losing at a remarkable rate.Just for instance last week i drank 12pints of lager , 4 packets of crisps and a couple of cream cakes.
I dont want to lose anymore weight as according to my wie-fit machine i am now the ideal weight for my height but i love this fasting so much i dont want to stop ( and the misses needs my encouragememt)Think next week i might not be quite so stringent on my fasting days, maybe up my intake to 1000 cals but all in all that horizon prog was the best thing health wise that i have ever come across. g/l all.

nice one twizzle
i weighed 195.5lbs so happy enough , stayed off the drink for a week , only had a few bottle of becks on sunday so think that helps.

Nice one twizzle.Must be nice to achieve the weight you're happy with. Day 52 for me (doesn't time fly)and the scales didn't want to know as they wobbled between 15 12lb and 15 11lb but did reluctantly decide on the 15 11lb which means just the 1lb loss for this week.
Lack of exercise and probably too much beer with the eating afterwards has slowed me down this week.Only about another 53lb to go.

Question about fast days

Do you have your fasts for 24 hours or for longer ?

What I'm saying is would you have your evening meal at maybe 18:00 on one day and fast through to a later supper at maybe 20:00 the next day (26 hour fast) or would you go through to breakfast on the next day at say 07:00 (37 hour fast)

Thinking about giving this a giving this a go ...... Got a  pile to loose but very impressed with the progress of you guys, well done to all

24 hour fast to start

so 6pm through to 6pm, although there may be some merit in making your first one longer

I eat my last food about 8pm which leaves 35 hours each time until I eat at 7am after a fast day.

Interesting thread, tempted to have a bash at this, been eating pretty well recently, still wanting abit more fat loss. Just wondering what you guys eat on the non fasting days? Are you eating what you normally would or adding extra to make up for the fast. Any of you fancy posting a typical non fasting day diet? Cheers.
By:

When: 29 Sep 12 10:20
the point of fasting is that it is hard to make up the calories lost on the fasting days

so just eat as you would now on the non fasting days and you will be laughing

Nailed on...just to reiterate, on fasting days (mon and tues) this is what i eat to the letter... nothing except water and black coffee ( no sugar), lunchtime homemade vegetable soup with a small slice of dry bread, apple mid afternoon , chicken, mushroom and spring onion soup using bouillon stock, another apple at 7pm and thats it apart from loads and loads of water..repeat the next day and i will guarantee you will lose weight and feel squillions better about yourself. Its true that on non fasting days you DEFINITELY do NOT eat as much as you think you will.good luck.

Day 59 and a 2lb weight loss this week bringing my total loss to 2 stones. Not bad considering I'm hitting the pub three times most weeks and still not really exercising.
Good luck everyone doing this.

im recording what i eat and have maybe lost a couple of lbs in a few weeks.

i totaled up the calories for yesterdays shenanigans, almost 5000 ,
going on a fast day today and a couple of weeks off the drink.
at least with the calorie counting its clear to me why i have been putting on weight!
By:
bigmo
When: 05 Oct 12 14:57
5000 is a fair few calories stevie but fasting and staying off the drink will work GL.

Interesting read this, trying to lose the spare tire having spent all my life eating what I like when I like.

This did make me chuckle though 'I dont want to lose anymore weight as according to my wi-fit machine i am now the ideal weight for my height'.Grin

1lb is a 1lb Capt. If someone hit us in the nuts with a 1lb bag of sugar reckon we would all appreciate it's weight.

Well done btw.Grin

Started this on September 2nd, and in five weeks I have lost 18lb. On non-fasting days I only have fruit for lunch and I try not to eat much after 7pm. Only drink alcohol on Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Brilliant thread! Makes for great reading

My biggest enemy is sugar, bloody addicted to the stuff. If I fast, Im worried the sugar craving might kick in even more and have me running to the shops for sweet snacks. Always have sweet food(choccy bars, biscuits etc) in the cupboard, any idea what I can replace them with when the discipline is low? Cheers guys

sugar-free jelly is the answer - of course you're relying on chemical sweetners which may put you off.  You can also replace some of the water with coconut milk which makes more of a mousse than a jelly.

You can also make cheese crisps (google for details), not particulary sweet, but they do have the texture and crunchy of a snack.

any sort of beef jerky, or puffed pork skins might also give you a "snack effect" and get you through

Finally, dessicated coconut!  really sweet and surprsingly nice.

good luck
