Well it's obviously not Hazell. If it was somebody other than the girl, the police would almost certainly have said something by now.

HonkyJoe. Do you really think that the same guy wasn't also my own immediate numbrt one suspect? Of course he was, but my 'gut-feelings' and chitchat's instant trial methods will not hold up in a trial. There has to be a crime. There has to be evidence. It has to stand up to intense scrutiny...otherwise the guilty party walks!

Angel Gabriel was quick to defend Hazell, without even knowing him.  But i'd like to put this down to defending "innocent until proven guilty" and how trial by media can have terrible repercussions when they get the wrong guy.

I am absolutely in favour of anonymity of "paedophiles" etc before proven as otherwise once your name is in the media and linked to such a case, no matter how innocent you are, your life is ruined.

I do think Angel had some duff information about the mobile phone though. It is now obviously clear that the phone she had use of and travel card were still in the house is because she never left.

The grandmother knows something.It'll all come out,mark my words.

If it was me, I'd check the house quite thoroughly, of course. But once I had been through the more obvious places, and had shouted for her a few times, I'd probably assume she wasn't concealed somewhere in the house.  I doubt I'd be going around tearing down walls or something unless I believed she might have been murdered and stashed there. And I doubt I'd believe she had been murdered by anyone living with me in my house, since almost certainly those would be people who I would love and trust, regardless of their 'past' - if I really thought somebody was a bad un, I doubt I'd be living with them at all.

Indeed, we can probably assume the members of this family are quite gullible, as I doubt many of us would believe somebody like Hazell had 'turned his life around' and had now become an upstanding citizen. Quite possibly these family members would just believe that she had gone out and been kidnapped, rather than suspecting that Hazell could have killed her - because he was a reformed man, he wouldn't do that sort of thing, he was just misunderstood etc. 

It's very easy for us to say what we would do ourselves when we're not even in that position. But immediately assuming the worst of somebody you were living with?  That doesn't sound like typical human nature to me.

So many 'missing' kids are found just hiding the house, you do have to wonder why they didn't do a thorough search in the early days just to rule out that possibility. Only needed a bit of tact for them to search without pointing fingers on day 1 but I guess without full facts we won't know what lengths had been taken to hide the body.

Highly unlikely that would have gone unnoticed Doctor - although you would also have assumed the lead suspect wouldn't be allowed to escape!

Hazell can't drive, so it's not as though he could have driven the body anywhere. Unless, of course, he had a willing accomplice - the gran perhaps, or maybe this mysterious 'independent witness'?

If he did take the body somewhere else, though, why would he bring it back again???   Best guess is it was always cleverly hidden behind some sort of wall panel...  Or maybe it was posing as an elaborate lamp shade.

A_T, David Blunkett's dog died about a week ago. Perhaps they didn't realise and took the dog along anyway. That would explain the lack of a reaction..


Being blind, David Blunkett's sense of smell would probably have been heightened. Maybe we need to start training blind people as a crack detection squad?
