no honky  - I am just pointing out how the police go about their business - yet again - either very poor intelligence leading to action taken - time and time again - ironically leading to them now **** footing around over 'sensitive' issues if you follow my drift.  Difficult job of course - and in this case though seems they have been a bit short on savvy if I may say

ex copper on sky saying similar
an ex tec
but they had another one in the studio (an ex commander) pouring cold water on criticism of police

Hazell says in interview "we've got to find a way to get her home". It appears he succeeded.

^^^ A 12 yo can't help that she comes from a scumbag family.

Something to that Moisok. Having read quite a bit about the case of the Asian family, though, I think they were quite right on that occasion. They had what appeared to be a good tip-off and they acted on it. Quite often those tip-offs are enough to prevent something bad from happening. As long as they don't run around willy-nilly (which I don't think they have when it comes to general terrorism), I think we should be a little understanding towards them when the occasional mistake occurs. They can't always get it right, after all, and I'd rather they were slightly overzealous rather than a little too cautious and thus letting a terrorist plot go off successfully.

Having said that, this case this week appears to have been very poorly handled. Not finding the body days ago may turn out to be incompetence, and as for letting the obvious suspect get away....  I just hope he's already swinging somewhere.  (Although, having said that, I have just heard a scream outside my East London flat, so maybe he's hot-footed it over here!!)

yes you are right honky  - maybe I am over sensitive to this issue it's just that it is rather odd on the timing of certain 'raids'
I don't wish to make it into conspiracy theory but if u remember the timing of some of these raids or arrests , when other things political are going down!!!
Blackie would invite him to tea!!!!  but he wouldn't get to drink it!!!!

You all seem to get so bloody excited about what YOU think shoukld have happened.

This man was free because he hjad not been charged with an offence. How could he be? Nobody knew that there were any suspicious FACTS. The police must operate within the confines of the law. Now they have a body and that changes the whole investigation.

The neighbour who reportesd seeing the girl would not be lying. Mistaken, perhaps, but not lying.
Also bear in mind that the body has not yet been OFFICIALLY identified, so you don't know who it is you are simply surmising. That is not good enough as evidence in a murder case.

Naydam - your post is of course perfectly logical, however if detectives operated in this way they would solve very few crimes.

Naydam, the police probably wouldn't have even been in the house searching for the body unless they had acted on instincts or clues.  He was free, but there were sufficient reasons for believing him to be possibly involved that the police should have been keeping a quiet eye on him.

if it is a young vulnerable girl at risk surely time is of the essence and ALL  lines of enquiries should be followed asap!!

It's a fair point (not made by anyone here!) that the body may have needed to decompose a little before the dogs could pick it up. The bout of sun over the last couple of days may have been the finishing touch that brought the dog squad into play.

We all would want him strung up (if guilty)
but there will be a lawyer to defend him and if policys and protocol have not been followed he gets away with a light sentence or worse

Those were members of the public Moisok.

The police do need at least a decent hunch before they rip somebody's house apart. If they do that and get it wrong, there'll be hell to pay.  Can you imagine the news headlines if an innocent couple had had their house dismantled by the police, having already suffered the tragedy of a child or grandchild going missing from their property?

no sorry  - a criminologist is saying the same thing - amazed they haven't used the house for evidence gathering and the likely contaminationg of evidence if it is left!!!  etc etc

Honkey, when someone dies, the muscles relax and the body releases waste and certain other smells almost immediately.  These are part of the smells the dogs can pick up.  Hence the ability of a cadaver dog to detect when a body has been in the proximity even though it has been moved very soon after i.e. before any decomp.

She was either detected immediately and for some reason the police didn't react (hoping to trap Hazell before he could flee?), or she was in the loft and this was sufficient distance to not allow the dogs to detect.  And the police didnt open the loft and pop the dog up there.

I agree that they might have kept a quiet eye on him and popssibly a few others. But they would not be able to prevent him from going/doing wherever and whatever he wants.
Much has been made of the fact that he is not a driver. Is that because he can't or doesn't choose to?

No matter how much Naydam likes to twist it, many of the posters here (even working without all of the evidence that the police would have been in possession of) were right from pretty much the first post. If so many here can spot it, why can't the police?

Work through the logical connections first and, if you eliminate them, move outwards from there. Common sense, surely?

As a retired Policeman I find it odd that a body has been found in the home. We were trained to search the home thoroughly whenever a person was reported missing. But then perhaps the as yet unidentified body was killed elsewhere before being brought into the home after a Police search. Unlikely? Perhaps.

yes but that was my point about the asian family and others - they seem quite happy to barrel in some places but not others - the criminologist is making the point that it was a likely crime scene (amongst several )  I assume he knows what he is talking about -
many of these type of crimes are done by family and those known to the victim, therefore with at least one person with a  record etc etc  why hadn't they concentrated on the home as well as search area and do the cctv search too!!!
