Hello TT , hope you've had a lucky day. Bit dissappointed Williams has pulled out.I've not heard of his replacement have you?

By:
colin jones v milton mcrory in the nevada desert heat, colin had done enough in most peoples eyes, but they scored it a draw..
|
|
By:
krence is from my hometown. took audrey the distance (6 or 8). he's only a cruiser really tho.
|
|
By:
mark krence = williams' replacement
|
|
By:
we discussed the jones-mccrory fight briefly fallon. only ever seen the fight that once and like you thought jones had done enough. we were possibly biased tho and he lost rematch fair and square.
both fighters were outclassed when running into curry - the cut on jones' nose was as ugly as they come. |
|
By:
ugly as,not sure ive seen 1 that bad since, remember my banner COLIN EATS CURRY,in that fight, was it the 4th round it ended?
|

Sorry to come in late. Not read the entire thread but mine is Thomas Hearns v Iran Berkeley.
Hearns just kept hitting and hitting and hitting Berkeley who somehow refused to go down. Berkely was totally outclassed. He coudn't get anywhere near Hearns. Hearns drew his arm back to inflict the killer punch when Berkeley swung an uppercut using his body weight rather then from his shoulder. His face was that puffed up I doubt he even saw Hearns in front of him. Caught Hearns smack on the chin and poleaxed him. Must have been the only punch Berkeley landed all night. |
|
By:
thought krence did ok. should not be fighting at heavy tho.
jones lost to curry in 4 yes. |
|
By:
tommy always was prone to a one-punch ko. think it was james kinchen who did him in 1st or 2nd.
barkley was of course himself poleaxed by nigel benn. |
|
By:
Greatest knockout though was Hearns v Duran. The sound of the punch echoed round the world!Great days!

I saw that fight last night, if Skelton is The British Heavyweight Champion, the game's in a bad way.
Why did Williams pull out ? |

Just been on the boxing threads on 'Other Sports'
It seems some people overestimated Khans opponent, and underestimated Khan. AND BURNT THEIR FINGERS ...............LOL And of course, once they did that, it's blindingly obvious that the fight was**.....terwats. I left this on there without naming who was doing the damage. It's pretty obvious, but see if they get it. 1985 Mar 6**Mercedes , TKO 1 WAS IT**? Apr 10 Trent Singleton , TKO 1 WAS IT**? May 23 Don Halpern, KO 4 DID THE MANAGERS BET ON ROUND 4 ? I know Campo, I was reading the boxing threads throughout last nightand have caught up with them this morning.
According to Norman Mailer, there were a lot of people crying in America after the Foreman V Ali fight too. Good morning, by the way. |
|
By:
I'm afraid boxing always creates a lot of varied opinion as to whether fights are straight or not.
It is usually the cynic who takes the view that there is always 'skullduggery' going on. Or people who have bet the wrong way! What did they expect, that he would be fighting for the title in his first pro. fight ? |
|
By:
'Good luck' to young Khan, I hope his management continue to bring him along in the way that will produce a future world champ.
I think he most certainly looks like a very promising contender. |
|
By:
As you know Tommy, in any weight divison the up and coming 'new boy' gets fed a ' bum a month' -as shown above.
People who bet on these mis-matches only have themselves to blame imo. |
|
By:
Couldn't agree more.
It's no use crying about any bet, if you've made the wrong choice. We all know that sometimes boxing does produce very dodgy decisions, whether by genuine difference of opinion by judges, or, on RARE occasions, 'certain agendas'. Boxing is a sport that a lot of consideration must always be given in which way to bet. |

I know this isn't in context of the original thread, but I did see a good boxer on last night's Ch5, 'Fight of the Week'.
His name is, Ian Gardner and I think they said at the start of the programme that he trains in the same gym once used by Marciano, and later, by Hagler. He looks pretty promising. Any more info. on him lads ? |

What happened there then ?????
I posted at 02:01 and it didn't go to the top. Don't Betfair want this thread for some reason ? |
|
By:
Very strange indeed !!!!!
Back to the top now, perhaps Betfair don't like the TRs. |
|
By:
Stranger and stranger.............
I've done it on the 'Today's Deep Thought' thread and it went to the top. Perhaps the site is experiencing 'glitches' again. |

Regarding my post of 15th July, 02:13.
I quite inadvertantly swithed Ch. 5 on at approx 04:20 today and found that they were showing another boxing match. It looked as though it had been a good one too, - James Butler V Richard Grant. As I only managed to catch the last round and the ridiculous aftermath, would someone please inform me what happened to both boxers afterwards. I hope Grant didn't have is jaw broken and that Butler has been banned for life through his vile behaviour. [I am referring to the fight where upon Grant being given a unanimous decision, and approaching Butler to put his arm around his shoulder in commiseration and to extend his best wishes, Butler lashed out with a full-bodied right, knocking Grant out cold - and when they were reviving him,it looked as though he was in a bad way. The police escorted Butler from the ring.] As there was no further information after the incident, someone's knowledge of the event would be appreciated. |

Afternoon Tommy. Googled it for you. Grants jaw was broken and Butler did time for it.Have a look at what Butler did when he got out! Nutcase. http://boxing.mining.com/

I seem to remember a fight where the loser's mother got in the ring, took off her shoe and starting hitting the winner with it.

This is probably the one ... And to the mother of Tony Wilson, who used her stiletto shoe to beat Steve McCarthy on the head when she decided her son had taken enough punishment. |
