Good afternoon, Sabre,
I didn't quite catch it, but I think it's , Khan V Bailey. And Skelton V Williams. |
By:
If all these TV companies think I'm going to be fleeced by extortion, for their usual mindless twaddle, in the hope of finding one good thing to watch occasionally.
They can think again. |
By:
Just giving this a gentle nudge up, for all boxing fans.

By:
Didn't realise this had slipped so low TT! Well played with Marciano mate!
By:
Thanks Sabre.
I remember the programme very well on BBC. Somethings do stick in my mind! |

TR2

By:
This is almost like playing a S.Q quiz.
You type something in, as quick as you can, only to find you're 6th from the top ! ^TR5^ |
By:
Excuse my ignorance lads cuz p.c literate i am not. What does Tr2 and Tr5 etc. mean?

Compo,
Don't know if you already know, but there is a progamme about Ali on BBC 2 tonight at 07:30pm, entitled; "The World's most photographed." Looks good. |
By:
One speliing error too many Tommy........
It's campo. And yes mate, I did know, but thanks for the reminder. |
By:
Sorry, Campo.
Still a little drowsy ! |
By:
Up again lads!
By:
I hope a lot of people watched this programme tonight, and not just boxing fans.
I believe in these troubled times, Ali is a shining example of what 'good men' should aspire to. |
By:
I think everything has been said about Ali that can be said TT. Forget the religion and politics ,what a fighter he was! Showed that Cleveland Williams photo eh mate!
By:
Sabre, it was a joy to watch this programme, for me.
I thought the underwater shot of his archetypal pose of 'the boxer', was magnificent. Shame there aren't more things worth watching on TV. |
By:
Did you like the bit when the geezer said that because Liston was massive odds on ,that practically no one would turn up, then Ali did his bit,and the house was sold out!
By:
Further to my last post;
I thought all of the photographs were exceptional. The one at the end, (taken by Wharol, which Ali said was the best ever taken of him), showed the vulnerability and child in him, which depicts the inner-core of us all, no matter how old, or strong we may be, or think we may be. |
By:
Just one final question TT. i won't be offended.Sugar Ray Leonard v Hagler.Who won?
By:
No one Sabre, it was a draw.
Hagler retired afterwards. |
By:
By the way Sabre, I'm just in a bit of a philosophical mood at the moment.
I wish no one any offence. I thought all of the Ali footage was excellent, the Liston clips, and the shot of the boxer flat out, whilest Ali was raising his arms were terrific. I just think Ali is a great example of people who have genuine goodness within, will always have more sway in this world , than evil or misguided people. At least, I hope so. |
By:
I'm surprised TT! Resonances of Ali against Foreman here! Hagler too powerful Leonard over the hill.Do you remember the hype that Hagler would kill Sugar? Early rounds Sugar gets out the way[wouldn't you?] Middle rounds Sugar punches the head of Hagler for effect [baby punches i admit].Last few rounds stands toe to toe with the monster an easily holds his own. A perfect solution was found by Leonard!
By:
Tommy i can never disagree mate! A man everyone should look up to!
By:
first time i watched leonard-hagler i was cheering the sugarman on and he just nicked it on my scorecard. seen it three or four times since and hagler wins by more every time i watch it. whatever the verdict it was a disappointing way to see one of the all time greats lose his belt. fight never really lived up to hype and can't be considered a classic imo.
By:
As ever, Sabre, (and Easter), my memory failed again 3am ish time.
I thought as soon as I typed it I might be wrong, but was too tired to check up. Leonard did win after all. I remember watching it, (when surrounded by other people in a public place), and I thought it was a draw myself. I've told you about how 'hazy' I am ! |
By:
Afternoon TT and Easter. I agree that fight was far from conclusive. I idolised Leonard as a kid and was just relieved he emerged unhurt! I could never understand why Hagler didn't have a rematch.

Hello Sabre.
I am just so very glad that I grew up in the 70s, when fights like that used to be regular viewing on the Beeb, and ITV. The quality that was about then, should never be underestimated. Can anyone imagine today's 'heavyweights' surviving longer than 1 second, against men like that ? |
By:
I cannot , for the life of me, understand why Ch 4 an 5 don't show these fights at a more reasonable time, and sign post them accordingly.
I had no idea they would show that, and even though I enjoyed the Benn fight immensely, that was a real treat for me. The next time the boxing is on, on these channels, it will probably be 5 am, without any notice of whose on the bill. |

Just ensuring that this thread does not 'drop off'.
All in the correct form of duty for an ITR agent. ^TR5^ |
