I think this was on a few months ago Sabre, it was a great fight.
By:
1000 posts up.Boxing's popular wouldn't you say!
By:
I certainly would, Sabre - to those of us who know what a great sport it is!
By:
An hour and 10 mins ,plus i've got some alcohol in! Luvvly Jubbly.

Saturdays a goodnight aswell TT! Apparently according to MB if AH wins it'll prove he's a Great!

Montgomery Brewster 07 Dec 13:18
am i too late- the people in the know regard audley as a potential heavyweight henry armstong, hes never been extended in any of this fights and had no stamina problems when defeating julius "mad dog" francis a while ago. anyway i look forward to taking your money of all you audley doubters in a few days time when i am proved right |
By:
By beating the Danny Williams ,MB will have proved all the doubter's wrong ?:|
By:
I don't know what's happened here but,
CH5 are at this moment showing: ALI v SPINKS! |
By:
Good spot TT ,this is just rubbing it in now!
By:
Sabre, I got the time of the programme from the Saturday supplement that comes with the paper with tv programmes.
It differs from today's paper, which actually says the programme started at 1:55. Ridiculous. |
By:
Same here TT! Paper says it finishes at 3.30! Whats it say in yours?
By:
What round is it now Tommy, I may go down and try to watch it.
By:
Both of them say 03:30, Sabre.
By:
it's the 15th now, AITL.
Not worth it, I'm afraid. I'm really sick I've missed this. |
By:
I'm going down anyway, to get a glass of milk.
By:
Sh!t. Too late for the fight then.
I'll get me milk. |
By:
They might show the rematch?
By:
You've got to hand it to Spinks, he did very well for what was really a light/heavyweight.
By:
They are!
By:
Woohoo!
By:
Ali looked so much fitter here.
By:
Underestimated Spinks bigtime 1st fight ala Leonard v Duran.
By:
Looking at Spinks here, he doesn't look much more than a middleweight - I wonder what weight he was then.
By:
How on earth is he still dancing?
By:
He was brilliant, Sabre, was Ali!
By:
I know what you mean TT,Spinks made up for it in pure fitness though.
By:
As I said earlier, Sabre, Spinks did very well in both fights.
This is the era when boxing meant 'class'. |
By:
It's been said a million times before TT and AITL ,but WHAT could we have seen in those missing years of Ali's career?
By:
What a fantastic prog!!!!
By:
That was great.
Ali's 3rd World Championship. You could just begin to tell though, by his muted celebration, that he was just beginning to be 'impaired'. A great shame. |
By:
I'd love to see a miracle cure for Parkinson's to come along ,to hear the Great man talk like he did and end his days with the dignity he deserved.
By:
Sorry ,i get a little emotional after a few beers!
By:
That would be great, Sabre.
But to give him his due - he has never once complained about his plight and it just may be that with the great man being afflicted with Parkinson's - it has helped others with the condition and also speeded up a possible cure. |
By:
Caught the end of round 15. Just about to leave the room when the rematch came on. Ali looked great considering his age, and all respect to Spinks, he came to fight, as they did back in those days, and he didn't want to lose that title. I bet his face was a state the following day. Once again Ali showed superb psychology by standing between rounds, it certainly gives you an edge in this game.
By:
Don't laugh lads, but i believe Ali had the greatest LEGS in the business! Massive advantage he had there allied to basically all the skills he had.
By:
I was going to type out a massive post on the career of Ali and planned to put it on here on his birthday in January, but because of my shoulder it's taking far too long, so I think I'll run a Muhammad Ali SUPREME QUIZ on his birthday instead, and save the other one for his 65th in 2007.
By:
It sure does, AITL.
He really was the master thinker at the game. |
By:
Sabre, one of Ali's most fantastic abilities was to take a punch.
When you see the shots Foreman belted his body with, it always makes me wince, no matter how many time I've seen the fight. He was incredibly good. AITL - An Ali quiz would be splendid indeed ! |
By:
Good idea Quizmaster. One question about Ali please because my chronology is off,who was champ in the years Ali was away?
By:
Sabre, you know how I'm always 'hazy' on details, so I've just googled.
Have a look at this site I've just found: http://www.africanamericans.com/MuhammadAli.htm |
