By:
AITL ,i meant it would be a good q for you to ask btw!

Here's one to mull over.
3 fighters have been credited with decking Ali. (Easy for a devoted Ali fan) Not so easy is this. A 4th fighter claimed it, and it happened during a fight. Why was it not noted, and who was he ? And with that, gents, I bid you both goodnight. |
By:
Good one AITL ,thats got the grey matter working!
By:
I like to do my bit for you boxing fans.
By:
For some reason, Bugner springs to mind, AITL - or someone else that was most unlikely - Dunn or
someone like that? |
By:
Was it in a computer fight?
By:
It didn't get credited because it was a push/slip - or am I on the wrong track altogether?
By:
That's a good idea, Sabre.
It just could have been the computer fight that they did in the 70s with Marciano. |
By:
was it smokin Joe on a chat show
By:
Tommy, you have the reason.
He was hit in the ribs as he was slipping over. Now, who was it? |
By:
Oscar Bonavena?

Just been scanning through this thread.
These look to be the two funniest contributions TheGoldenVision 10 Sep 23:40 My favourite fight was when 2 guys beat me up outside a club in Dublin. They broke my nose and 4 ribs but I got off several cutting remarks which no doubt did serious damage to their egos MIV 10 Nov 23:52 myself versus chris mchugh both 12 yrs old he cracked his knuckles i pooed my pants. come 2 the fight i slapped him several times he caught me with 2 ** slaps judges reconned a draw i think not as i was on top and not tiring. |

I haven't been able to post for a while - see service announcements - problems with the forum.
Sabre, it was Sonny Banks, Henry Cooper and Joe Frazier. |
By:
Not Bonavena, Tommy.
Sabre - Sonny Banks, Henry Cooper and Joe Frazeir all decked Ali with a left hook. Does that help you with the elusive 4th fighter? |
By:
Norton, AITL?
By:
Late as usual, me.
I had problems posting earlier, I all but gave up while racing was on. |
By:
No Tommy, not Norton.
Even though he broke Alis jaw, he never decked him. |
By:
It couldn't have been Chuck Wepner, could it, AITL?
By:
Correct Tommy.
Well done. Ali slipped in the 9th rpund as he was on his way, Chuck hit him. He paid for it. |
By:
Sly Stallone, who was a struggling actor then, spent his last $100 on an old telly to just to watch this fight.
When it was over he got the idea for 'Rocky' and the rest is history. |
By:
Do you know, AITL - I nearly said him first, but as is seemed so ludicrous, I didn't!
It really makes me laugh when they show it on the 'Vintage fight's' shows, but to give Wepner his due, he kept on plugging away. No wonder Stallone wrote Rocky, based on that fight. |
By:
I was typing as you were posting, AITL!
By:
Here's an Ali related question for you Tommy.
Pretty hard. Which one of his opponents was the brother of a pop singer? I'll leave it until later in case Sabre wants a stab at it as well. |
By:
Im thinking hard about this one! Well done TT,btw!
By:
Thanks AITL, Sabre - It's a shame I couldn't have got 10 points for it in a Supreme Quiz!
I think I know this, but I just can't recall. Was it Sam Cooke's brother? |
By:
No, Tommy.
Wrong gender for a start. |
By:
I know Joe Frazier released a few records - was it him?
By:
I vaguely remember that Frazier could sing a bit. Did this run in the family?
