Do you really want to believe in a god that created a world where everything rips something else to bits to survive ?

(a+b^n)/z = x, therefore God exists.

we lived before we came to this earth ,this earth was made for us by god so that we would recieve bodies of flesh and blood and be tested to see where we go after we die.

well your probably going to have fun picking this apart but i think mormonism was invented by fkd up americans to justify polygamy. much as the church of england was invented by henry VIII to justify divorce.

but everything that WE are comes from electronic signals and chemical balances in the brain. your personality is only how you react the certain events and scenarios which depends entirely on levels of dopamine, seratonine etc in your brain. after you die, this all stops and so i find it very difficult to believe life can continue after death

well similarly how do you quantify space? what is outside hte universe? what were materials created in the big bang doing before they banged? where did the energy come from to create such an event?

ovalman - science was once used to justify religion, now it is used to discredit it

lets be honest - if scientists are willing to lie about global warming then they are willing to lie about anything and I would suggest most of what is considered accepted science will have radically altered in 50 years time

i have looked at lots of faiths and its the only one that makes sense ,other faiths all have mistakes or parts missing if i did not gamble i would join straight away.

I didn't read all that Tony but I may have some fun on that site and post up my findings.

There are no easy answers to the big questions but its right to ask them. If your a believer then you have to ask yourself are you following the right religion? All religions can't be right why should yours be? Are you following even the right sect of your religion? Protestants and Catholics have killed each other for years in my country because their god is right. Different sects of Islam are doing the same right now in Iraq.

Who is correct? If one is wrong, maybe their all wrong?

When: 31 Dec 09 11:11
Towers, science is not some secret sect, it is a work in progress. I don't like the Big Bang Theory but its the best we have. I'v no doubt your correct that we will laugh in 50 years time on what we think now but there will be some parts that will stand the test of time.

so you dont believe in it then because you think its ok to gamble. you certainly cant tell me why you DO believe in it. evnagelism says gambling is like any other vice, perfectly acceptable in moderation. perhaps instead you might post a reason why you so strongly disagree with what im saying. or perhaps youll just kop out again??

you have said the right word VICE so you are saying drugs ,porn ,etc are ok. do you not believe there are people today gambling, drinking, etc with money that should be used to feed there kids ,pay bills etc?
By:

When: 31 Dec 09 11:20
I don't like the inflationary bit that is required.

For current thinking for the Big Bang to occur it requires inflation where the Universe expands much much faster than the speed of light. This smacks in the face of science breaking its own rules.

Although out of favour, I quite like Fred Hoyle's Steady State where a particle is sporadically created at times. I'm sure dark matter and energy has a lot to play in our thinking.
By:

When: 31 Dec 09 11:20
no drugs are illegal and porn is lustful, both sins. also spending money on vices when you need it to feed kids to doing them to excess which is not what i endorsed.
By:
fkqmz
When: 31 Dec 09 11:24
i dont think it does because i think that travelling above the speed of light is only impossible within the earths atmosphere. outside of this its perfectly possible as there is effectively no resitive forces on an accelerating object

ovalman one of e 10 commandments is thou shall not kill{murder} so any religion that does this is false straight away same with gay preists etc

Religionists adopt their bibles whatever way they please as the bible is so full of contradictions. One verse says love thy neighbour while another says an eye for an eye.

Killing in the name of your god is a fundamental requirement of religion. Look at the crusades.
By:
kennelhand
When: 31 Dec 09 11:34
ovalman eye for a eye was old testament which was surpassed by the new testament when jesus came and taught love and forgiveness
By:
fkqmz
When: 31 Dec 09 11:35
well for a start you take the eye for an eye quote completely out of context just like most other cynics. given time i'll get you an answer for that 1.
as for the whole holy war bit, yeah the crusaders killed lots of people in the name of god but they also claim god told them to do this. if he did then theyre justified and no believer will ever doubt an instruction from god, if he didnt theyre in hell. simple as really.
By:
fkqmz
When: 31 Dec 09 11:37
easy, the quote refers to the punishment a sinner can expect from god.

leviticus 24:19-21:
19Anyone who maims another shall suffer the same injury in return: 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; the injury inflicted is the injury to be suffered. 21One who kills an animal shall make restitution for it; but one who kills a human being shall be put to death.

its a scare tactic

So kennel, we are not to take the words of the bible literally?

What parts should we leave out?
By:
kennelhand
When: 31 Dec 09 11:42
during the crusaders time is known as the dark ages as when jesus and the apostles were killed the truth was taken from the earth which is when a lot of false religions sprang up,truth only was restored in the 1800,s by joseph smith.

god damn where is head in hands man when you need him.
taken from earth by who and for what reason?
By:

When: 31 Dec 09 11:49
ovalman as someone said earlier a lot of the bible was changed and taken out to suit people a lot was done for gain .the joseph smith transalation has put back all the missing parts and corrected the mistakes have a read makes much more sense.

When: 31 Dec 09 11:50
also leviticus 24 relates to the early days of the holy land. this was in the days of moses and hence, the religion was still in a very young stage. god ruled with an iron fist and harsh justice to lay down the laws and let his people and the "aliens" he refers to know he is powerful.

am still waiting for you to tell me what exactly was removed from the bible and replaced by Joseph Smith. perhaps the bit where jesus had 3 wives?
By:

When: 31 Dec 09 11:54
or perhaps you'd find it easier to explain the resurrection?
By:

When: 31 Dec 09 12:04
Tony, I eventually read that.

I'm sure many of the so called proofs can also be disproved by similar verses in the bible.

I've no doubt the bible is a work of literary genius, it gives us good morals and served a purpose in ancient times but most of the stories were passed down the generations orally and therefore have twisted their true stories. Ancient stories and customs have developed in all civilisations and all different. God is made in Man's image not the other way around.

Unfortunately I can't ask any questions on that site you gave. I have loads that I'm sure some Christian scholar would love to answer.
