Early on wasn't there a rumour that Cheveley Park were much more interested in winning a Supreme than Bally?
|
By:
What has Ruby said that would constitute "putting people away"?
|
By:
Mullins does not feel obliged to consider the punter in any of his decisions, never has done and Walsh has stated long since, in as many words that he has little or no consideration to the average punter.
What would be a better example to hammer them with should it transpire rather than the Supreme would be if Galopin ended up in the RSA, because that's what Mullins intimated at after the DRF because he was concerned that the faster race might undo his jumping as he was sticky at a couple at Leopardstown. However, Walsh has been constant in pushing for the Turner's and apparently now Mullins is agreeing. |
By:
Agree Duffy. Walsh has been banging the Turners drum since his debut. If he was to switch to the RSA it would be another one to add to their catalogue of shafting the punter.
Walsh has also been telling everyone who cares to listen that Sir Gerhard is all speed. I take all their comments with a pinch of salt. Geoff..... Best Supreme since Diana Ross |
By:
agree wi geoff best supreme since diana ross .im still waiting for a descision from willie as to who he runs here could trigger a chain reaction in the markets when he does confirm.
|

Very good Foyles:
Rang Willie to see which horses are running where .On phone ages .I told him You Keep Me Hanging On. |

Walsh has been banging the drum that Mullins will definitely split the horses, when it is clear they are all supreme horses judging by the campaigns they have all had. If he doesn’t split them, Walsh has clearly put everyone away by constantly saying they will be split Ruby Walsh says… “Dysart Dynamo and Sir Gerhard are the two that are deadly split, they are the ones to ride, and they will be split. “I believe whichever one goes to the Ballymore [Novices Hurdle] will win it. But whichever one runs here [at Cheltenham] might win. They Ballymore is much weaker race.” “I think this is a cracking race, as people have already said.” “I think if Dysart Dynamo were to run here, this race is made for him.” |
By:
Agree Harry to do right by the horses they should run here S>G /Dysart /kilcruit .Wonder if Mullins/Townend will put potential personal ambition/financial gain against whats doing right by the hosses.
|
By:
Geoff I’m not being negative but this is the biggest jump meeting of the year and personally I hate the skullduggery. We should be talking of what a great race it is, instead we can’t put a book together with now 6 days left because Walsh, Mullins want to put people away.
I’ll be Frank, I think they are all going to run in the supreme. Just hate not being able to form a book while watching them rob the cash out of both markets on Walsh’s say so. We will see, the rsa backers done their money, by the look of it already |
By:
Found it quite easy to make a book if your willing to trade/hedge it .As been fluctuating all over the place.
Taking a view where they run(and sticking with it) can turn out to be high risk. Personally hope they all run likewise as ive laid(i.e worst results) S>G/Dysart/Kilcruit and Constitution for Ballymore. |
By:
Fair play Geoff…not done anything myself I got my ass bitten last year with appreciate it going for ballymore. Ferny hollow scuppered the bet I'm afraid. The problem for Mullins this year with splitting the horses, is he has legitimate dangers unlike last year, which makes his decision this time much tougher imo and he could end up with nothing if he spots the wrong horses.

Why would horse race trainers have any consideration for the punters.
Get yerself a few thoroughbreds and train them , then see who you worry about |

Why would horse race trainers have any consideration for the punters.
Cheltenham is a spectacle, do you believe the control he now has over racing in Ireland and now Britain is for the good of the sport Irishone? |
By:
You can understand the difficulty in trying to appease owners /Jockey and his own ambitions.
Making a decision this far in advance can all change with the weather. Making a clear definitive staement what goes where and then all change with the weather we would be accusing him of putting us punters away. @ the heart of it they should do what they truly beleive is right for each horse. Which is not always the case. |
By:
The problem he has is his best 3 novices in one race.
He talks of Sir Gerard as tho he will be looking to keep him as a hurdler next year. Which would obviously be Champion Route. And therefore would you want to put him over 2m5f this year.Altho he believes he would stay. Dysart (would be amazed if he went Ballymore the way he tanked @ PUnchestown and hacked up) Kilcruit again be amazed if he went Ballymore. Albeit im sure all will be left in the Ballymore @ latest decs when it reopens later today Just to add further confusion /speculation If they where in different yards its a no brainer. |
By:
Well @ least Nickys made it clear that Jonbon & Constituion are SUpreme bound by removing them from Ballymore.
Willie will keep us guessing till SUpreme decs sunday morning. |
By:
Obviously whichever horse of Mullins doesn't run in the Supreme will no doubt start a chain reaction.
|
By:
very good Duffy. But i doubt Willie will go solo like Diana.
Sir Gerard into 5/4 2.2 here for Ballymore and weak around 9.6 for Supreme |
By:
Think we can assume now that SG is Ballymore bound.
|
By:
I think it’s fair to assume Gordon Elliott also has the same information. After all Ginto gone from 4/1 to 36/1 in one day for the ballymore
|
By:
aint no mountain high enough to keep willie from running sir gerhard in the ballymore .
|
By:
fair play to willie he said" im coming out" and telling the punters sir g goes ballymore !
|
By:
Come Wednesday we will have Reflections of whether hes made the right decision or not.
|

Hope it wasn't before you go-go
|

Bentring, think you may have gone off topic
|

Each horse should only be able to enter one race at the 5 day entry stage.
So fed up with the trainers aiding bookmakers, it has to stop. |

To Harry callaghan
"Cheltenham is a spectacle" Give us a break. Its only a spectacle because willie, gordon and henry turn up. Its racist, overcrowded and well capable of killing good horses. There is nothing spectacular about it. Punchestoen, dublin snd galway are far in sdvance in terms of quality..... The beer is overpriced , the food is crapp and you cant get about. |
By:
What fcking tripe
|
By:
If its so crap why do the Irish keep coming back year after year. Ask Willie and Gordon if they'd rather have a cheltenham winner or a Punchestown winner, rofl.
|
By:
Its like your.cup final. Used to be a spectacle but now even the best clubs dont put their best teams out. Nichols avoids it, best jockey in UK doesnt want to ride there. Your epsom derby was touted as a spectacle now its a run of the mill saturday afternoon meeting.
You ask anyone who has been to cheltenham the last twenty years has it got better.....its pvercrowded now more than ever. Recently they have had fights breaking out, fellahs pi55ing pver balconies, bands playing during racing and a tented dhopping centre open all day. Geysers stripping off in the guinness village. The number one reason the irish come is the prizemoney.Dont kid yerself about honour or tradition. Like a lot of events with big crowds there is a sense of mob rule and anything goes. I get the members badge given to me some years and dont use it because the bars are.overcrowded and you cant get about comfortably. The boxes used to be ok but even they get mobbed now with people that are npt interested in the horses . The course itself is unsafe. There are horse deaths there year after year. .....whats spectacular about that ? |
By:
and you was excited yesterday...nothing stays the same ,everything is constant....the whole world revolves around the mighty dollar thesedays...ive not been to the festival for 20 years and it was chaos back then..u got me all melancholy now....
|

9 declared no Sir Gerard

SG goes to the Ballymore

Disappointing small field. I remember when there were as many as 30 runners in the first race on day one. It was a great spectacle with all the jocks trying to get to the front of the line before the tapes went up.
Big fields used to help us ante post layers, with all the hard luck stories. If most of these races cut up like this one, I will be lucky to get through the week without a net loss. |
