I always find it strange when people have such a firm opinion on the next Pegasus,so much so that every other horse has no chance.
I like it though!!!

Me too Bud.
For every Faugheen there are plenty of Dunguib's.
Laying Novice Hurdlers at 2/1 or less two months before the festivalhas to be done on principal. In fact, I imagine you'd turn a nice profit laying any horse 2/1 or less for any race at the festival. Plus, they make the market on anything else you fancy.
As for Samcro, he could be anything, but there are better 2/1 shots running today - I simply can't believe people are prepared to get involved at these prices this far out.

Here's a snippet of what the insiders have to say about Samcro:

“Samcro is as good a horse as we’ll ever see,” - Davy Russell

"That was unreal. Everything comes naturally to him. He relaxes and jumps great. I pulled him out to give him a look at the third-last and he was gone. He just took off." - Jack Kennedy

Barry O'Neill -
"From the word go, everyone who sat on Samcro was like 'oh my God, what is this?'"
"It wasn't that everything he did was flashy, it was all just so perfect – a big powerhouse of a horse. The feel he'd give you was unbelievable."
"Samcro is definitely the best horse I've ever ridden. He looks so exciting, doesn't he? He's got everything."

"He's a gentle giant. Everything comes easy to him. You wouldn't have thought speed would be his biggest asset but he's got plenty of boot." - Colin Bowe

Ignore at your peril!! Excited

I personally think Samcro is likely to be the real deal. I just think his price has consistently been dreadful, and that's key to my betting approach.

Especially when you consider Gigg aren't infatuated with novice races for a horse they rate this highly. If they have even a scrap of doubt about his well being in the run up to the Festival, they won't run him.

Id be very surprised if he was an odds on poke on the day, so why take the 2/1 now with 10 weeks of risk? Each to their own of course, but as DO says, you'd do very well laying horses 2/1 and shorter this far out overall.

And there's more

" I've never seen hooves like them before - he has the feet of a ballet dancer" - local farrier.

" If I wanted a 5 minute nap, Samcro takes over at the wheel. He's unbelievably clever" - Gordon Elliot's lorry driver

When 'chappers' is on board, that is the time to dump/lay-off - he is jinxed.

Very funny Visor... as said months ago the betting on this event was done and dusted, the mugs are the only ones backing this beast at 2/1 under today`s rules of racing.

But on the day they will be trebling their previous investment.

don't upset nonsense 123 he'll have the thread removed and it's proving one of my favorites... you can't beat it when people have pinned there hopes on one animal and will say anything to protect there investment, i for one am wishing and hoping he turns up and takes all the money on the day

Those who are backing/have backed Samcro are trying to convince themselves ND goes in the AB or Supreme. I wont bother saying where he goes again.

Arkle

I have no problems with ND running in the Ballymore because I am pretty confident that Samcro will prove the better horse on the day if they both get there in one piece.

From a financial point of view I have previously stated that I believe ND to be the main “threat” to Samcro but I think Mullins will avoid Samcro and run ND in the AB.  I have bet accordingly.

In the ATR interview Mullins was asked a leading question and said that the Ballymore was probably the best race but he would get entries in the other 2 novice races.

ND has a better chance of winning the AB (only 3 furlongs further) where he can travel as he did on Sunday and then use his acceleration after the last rather than 2 out.

So Mullins thinks the Ballymore is the best race for ND, so do i after watching him.
I really hope he turns up there, and is a nice price on the day.
By:

ND doesn't look like a stayer to me and so that's why i say he may go Supreme instead of AB. Also the AB is run over the new course which is more of a stamina test.

Seriously i can't see WPM running ND against Samcro, in the Ballymore, if the latter wins convincingly next time out. WPM has no obvious Supreme contender and as we all know WPM just wants Cheltenham winners, and has avoided more competitive races many times before with his horses.

I'll be backing ND once it's NRNB for the Supreme. Fair play to anyone who got the 14/1 with Skybet already. GL

365 just out with NRNB on the Supreme - 8/1 Next Destination :(

Yeh,i was going to have a go at 14,but got home from work and was 8,so have left it.
Agree with you, dont think he will go 3m either, although in time he may.

Mullins tries to avoid,as much as possible, having his own A-listers clashing, but he doesn't mind who they take on from other yards. Where Samcro turns up won't bother him in the least.
By:
maelduin
When: 08 Jan 18 21:48
It could be argued that ND is his A-lister for the Supreme right now. Any hint of going back in trip and he'll be fav overnight. imo

Will be interesting to see which race ND goes for next. We got 2 Gr.1 novices hurdles @ Leopardstown in February over 2m & 2m6f. I'm sure he'll be entered in both.

The Deloitte has been changed from 2m2f hasn't it? Shame for ND as that would probably have been ideal.

I think next des only has a supreme entry to swerve samcro. Some might say the easier of the 2 races might be the one without samcro in it.
By:

Some do say that.....on here anyway!!

Then again some might say the easier race is the one he is most suited to.

Is Samcro better than Denman - I only ask because I was Nicanors biggest fan on here and was quids in when he slaughtered the supposedly unbeatable monster in the Neptune.Devil

What do you mean irishone?

Dont think Samcro ever had the Future Champions on his radar did he? The 2m4f race Next Destination won was always the plan?
By:
maelduin
When: 09 Jan 18 11:08
Wouldn't expect WPM to swerve any horse early in the season but when it comes to Cheltenham it is a totally different story with him.

CCM yes the Deloitte used to be 2m2f. Both of the Gr.1 novice hurdles used to be on different weekends but now that they are part of the 2 day festival the Deloitte is back to 2m and the other one is up to 2m6f. Pity as like you said the 2m2f would have been ideal for ND.

History has shown us that speedsters win Neptunes more then stayers. Never for a moment did i see Denman as a speed horse but Samcro looks like he possesses both in adundance. Excited

Very true maelduin. Interesting that they are going for the 2m6f race with Samcro. Could be a bit of a slog that, but then options are a bit limited I suppose.

At the time it was entered it was thought it was the easiest option if next destination didnt turn up for the 2m 4f, the question one would like the answer to was how bad was the scope

So it’s the Ballymore or the AB for ND.

Won’t be running in the Supreme now.

Getabird and ND will be kept apart. One will run in the Supreme and the other in the Ballymore. Which one is anybodys guess but I'll be surprised if we find out before the Sunday of Cheltenham week.

I guess ND isn't going to run by the looks of it. Can't wait to see the monster. Excited

have had a few quid on getabird for the ballymore ,was impressed by what i saw at the weekend and think the ballymore trip may suit him better than the supreme ,whether connections feel the same is another matter but thats the chance you take .

I've a feeling also that Sharjah winning the Deloitte can change things. If Next Destintion was to beat or go close to Samcro that could change things also. I've bet Getabird at decent prices for the Supreme but haven't went in for the Neptune yet,I do feel the Supreme is the easiest option

respect all opinions on samcro but how do we know how good samcro is ? we have visual impressions and jockeys and  trainers opinions  he is obviously very very good ,visually he is very impressive in his races but what has he beaten ?  we wont find out till march probably ,an old saying never be afraid of one horse comes to mind . not saying samcro wont live up to the hype but untill he has the gun put to his head we wont know how he reacts in a battle ,well done if you got the big prices about him but 6/4 ish 8 weeks before cheltenham not for me .
