Anybody any thoughts or ideas as to AIRLIE BEACH target?

Would be a big player if she was to turn up here imo

The connections have said they were aiming for the mares hurdle but would let Willie decide where was best to send her. It would be a big surprise if she turned up in the Supreme given that he targets all the mares novices races and she would be among the favorites for the race. Must be more likely now Melon has won.

Don't really know what post to put this and doesn't deserve its own thread but am curious as to the answer. Why is Lets Dance allowed to run in novice hurdles when it was a juvenile last season? Surely it can't be deemed a jumping novice as it has already had a season hurdling? Probably an incredibly stupid question but haven't been able to find the answer.

I believe because she didn't win a race last season she never lost her novice status.

It hadnt won a race before this season so by rule was still a novice. It had run very good races at a high level last season.

The Post's site uses "bumper entry" as a subhead to describe high entries for the novice hurdles. Doubtless that will be changed for the print edition.

Finian's Oscar, Defi Du Seuil and Charli Parcs are amongst them.

That is all

Anyone like the look of Capitaine in this at a decent price? Relatively good prep on far from ideal ground, Nicholls said he'd be confident on better ground he'd reverse the form with Finian's Oscar & he's rated amongst the top end of those entered? Charli Parcs the main danger imo if he turns up in this...

Leaving aside whether he is good enough or will improve for better ground, the question I'd want answered is why Capitaine has raced almost exclusively on right-handed courses: is it just coincidence or does it reflect a real need to go that way round?

Luckily Paul Nicholls is very open with the media so I'd imagine he'll tell us, if he hasn't already. Sam T-D likewise.

it doesn't look a vintage renewal by any means at this stage, hard to believe that Melon is favourite after one run! price based purely on hype

Sure to be the 'get' horse the bookies offers are centred around on day one

I like the filly Airlie Beach. How saturnas fares this weekend dictates her path.

Moon Racer's form just taken a hefty boost at Newbury - will they go for the Champion though.

Moon Racer should be fav for the Supreme and the market has it wrong. Lack of a recent run is a concern given the horses fragility (but then that could be a positive that they are not over racing him).

I think all the talk of going for the Champion Hurdle is the reason - 6/1 nrnb with B365 might be a wise bet.

Agree Chief. Lack of a recent run may not be a bad thing given how well he ran in Ireland last year after a longer lay off. May just be best caught fresh (Have an inclination he had a decent break before his Champion Bumper win too). Agree with Uncle in that the NRNB at 6s looks very fair

I'm firmly in the Moon Racer camp at the moment, MR being 6s while Ballyandy is cut to 8s is laughable

One horse I am interested in is Bunk off early, it's one win took a boost with Outspoken winning today, entered in the Deloitte but apparently 2nd string

Some talk at Exeter that Finians Rainbow might go here - more worried about Neon Wolf in the Neptune than Melon in the Supreme apparently.

I think they'll end up going to the Neptune, but a strong run 2 miles could be the ideal scenario to be fair. Tough call but interesting that they went over the shorter trip again today. He absolutely tanked through the race today - hardly a bother on him either.

The fact he won over 3m in his point must make the Neptune the most likely race though?

He's winning well over 2m on soft ground, but the Supreme on spring ground would be an altogether different test.

Surely Neptune is the race more of a stayer plus looks easier race with no moon racer and melon
By:
delsie777
When: 12 Feb 17 19:24
Agreed - but they didn't entertain the 3m option and seem to have been surprised by the amount of speed he has shown. Neptune seems the favoured route but I think they will reconsider if Neon Wolf is committed to that race.

I've £20 on him at 20/1 for the supreme done it last nite on the exchange for back up

Bunk off Early is an interesting one from today's race.  Reminded me a lot of Tombstone when he raced really keenly last year and couldn't get past Long Dog in the run in Future Champions at Christmas.

If he can settle better, he is in the mix, but I made that mistake with Tombstone last year, and turned out to be just not good enough.

Haven't made my mind up about BoE yet.

If it is Finian's Oscar you mean i hope not, although i do have my insurance bet at 12s any race my main bet is 20s Neptune! I have neon wolf backed at 50s for supreme though 12s neptune and 8s any lol.
