I wouldn't have thought so but stranger things have happened. Having read Mark Howard and Paul Ferguson's books for the season ahead, I'm keeping an eye out for the Paul Nicholls trained ADRIEN DU PONT who was bought for a large sum after winning his only start comfortably in France. Another juvenile now trained by Nicholls is the ex Aga Khan owned horse ZUBAYR who was bought for €380,000. However it seems he will have to be something special to make Cheltenham as he wont be seen until the New Year. I would imagine Nicholls, Henderson and Mullins will have a few missiles up their sleeve, roll on the jumps!

I'm intrigued by Barry O'Connell's purchase of ex-Dermot Weld and Aga Khan hoss Edelpour. To be trained by Alan Fleming I think. Have asked for him to be added to those books who've got a Triumph market.
|

Allblak des places very interesting french form too for willie mullins assume he's been purchased by giggingstown as not owned by ricci or wylie.
|
By:
Backed zubayr 20/1
Adrien du pont 25/1 Allblak des places 25/1 the only other horse I'd be interested in is the o connell horse asangy. Very early to build a book but the market seems all wrong to me on French form, allblak des places and adrien du pont well clear. Unless someone buys devise. We will soon see |
By:
Fair play Scooby having 3 backed for the Triumph in September
|

I know either going to look a genius or an idiot, more likely the latter. But as we all know one win in an easy race against poor opposition and the price has gone.
|
By:
JFK
I doubt a few flights of hurdles will make any difference to him |
By:
The triumph hurdle winner is running in the first at Chepstow tomorrow,
|
By:
Let's Dance wins the Triumph imo
|
By:
Rich ricci owned, but mares got a poor record in the triumph. Will be interesting to see how she gets on.
|
By:
Andrien du Pont a lucky winner at Chepstow
Not my cup of tea |
By:
Very green and pulled early , first 2 pulled well clear as they should.
Only his second ever run, and I'd reserve judgement for another day. Will be interesting to see how the form stack up with the 2nd cos plenty of improvement Imo to come from adrien du pont. |
By:
Bookies unimpressed
33-1 available |

This is one race I've never had an antepost bet on. Just doesn't seem much point, something will be favourite all year then some unraced Henderson type bolts up in the Adonis with a month to go and it's all change.
|
By:
It's a bit like backing the UEFA Cup winner at the start of the season, making it through all the qualifiers and group stages to be looking pretty until 8 Champions League teams drop right in at the head of the market.
|
By:
All blak des places to run in the colours of hurricane fly with the same owners
|
By:
Asangy 33/1
Zubayr 16/1 Both covered but do accept it's mad to even be betting on the race yet. |
By:
Favorito bucks a listed winner at auteuil may be one to look out for, just come in to the yard last week
|
By:
Ranshaan looks a really good prospect in the juvenile hurdle division. Won at a canter against a decent rival.
|
By:
16-1 is a fair price
Dont know the trainer-though |
By:
Gonna throw one out that I don't think has been as of yet mentioned = Pilansberg - Trained by Paul Nicholls down has having Prince Khalid Abdullah as the owner at this present time.
Gave a beating on the flat to Wolfcatcher who made a very good novice hurdle display at Market Rasen yesterday. Anybody heard anything? |

I'll add to Shiekh Me Hand's question as it is also a Paul Nicholl's related question ... anyone know when a horse called Politologue is due to make an appearance? Won at Auteuil in June under James Reveley and was then snapped up and sent to Nicholls.
From ex trainers website: 22.06.2015 POLITOLOGUE: good impression He finished 2nd at Compiègne first time out over hurdles and he was already noticed that time. On June 22nd, for his second time out at Auteuil this time, we expected him to show the improvement we saw in the morning. We were not disappointed as he won with authority in front of serious horses. His jockey James Reveley liked POLITOLOGUE a lot: “the horse is very interesting, he ran particularly well although still a bit immature.” The Devin clan, owners-breeders, were particularly happy as the horse ran for the first time under the colours of his young owner Sophie Devin. First runner, first winner! |
By:
Now owned by John Hales
Best distance from 2.5 miles plus From a leading well known publication |
By:
No news on Pilansberg, however Politologue pencilled in for an appearance at Cheltenham on Friday over 2 miles.
|

JP McManus has bought IVANOVICH GORBATOV from Coolmore who has entered the Triumph Hurdle market at 25/1. Made only 3 appearances on the flat for Aidan O'Brien, finishing 3rd on debut over 9f, winning next time out over 1m5f and winning last time out over 1m7f. Apparently to remain in training with O'Brien, interesting ....

Darebin has just beaten Extreme Appeal today 1.40 Ludlow with a mile back to the third. Those two amongst others were destroyed behind Kasakh Noir a week last Friday at Newbury, he won very easily (go back and take a look). Kasakh Noir could be very good. I've taken a bit of 20/1 for The Triumph.
|
By:
Nice pick there Patterson92 :)
|
By:
The Alan King newcomer, Gibraltaro, looked impressive yesterday but who knows if either him or Mullins have better ones yet to run? Nicholls has fired 4 or 5 3yo's but none look up to much so far. I will wait until after the Cheltenham trial on Jan 30 before making up my mind.

Still waiting on the Nicholls beast - Zubayrr
|
By:
only 2 of the last 10 winners of this race have had their hurdle debut in the same calendar year and one of those was a very poor renewal - i believe ever since soldatino and zarkandar did this on the bounce we have become a little too fixated at the notion that we may have not yet seen the winner. I also believe that bookmakers are tending to over react to this notion. Getting the winner is tough of course for such a competitive race but building a strong portfolio to put yourself in a strong position is becoming embarassingly easy in this race imo.
if a superstar emerges i am happy to take it on the chin knowing the odds of it happening are less likely than we think. |
By:
I agree that we have probably seen the Triumph winner but there is little collateral form so far. A week ago Skelton probably thought he had 2 candidates but both found wanting
|
By:
Decided to row in with Allblack des Places
Not a sexy horse Maybe a grinder and may need soft ground However hes has the best form on his sole start At 20-1 hes 3 times the value of the current fav |
By:
I would take Gibraltaro if given a free bet on the race today.
|
By:
Still nothing heard about Zubayr? When did Zarkandar make his debut? January? Leaving it a bit late with Zubayr ain't they?
|
By:
Gibralfaro running at Ascot tomorrow. Look forward to seeing him again.
|
By:
Just noticed the Spring Hurdle entry at Lepardstown-Feb 6
All the main fancies entered Who ever wins this will be the leading Irish hope Could be an upset here!!! |
By:
Gibralfaro confirmed for the Adonis which is good news.
Interesting that PN is running Connetable in the Contenders Hurdle this weekend. Presumably he isn't going down the Fred Winter route then. Still think hes a big price at 33/1 considering he was pretty close to Gibralfaro on debut and should come on massively for that run.' |
By:
Pilansberg has some very good flat form. Trained by nicholls and on harry Derhams blog is named as one of many being schooled over hurdles. Iv put a few quid on him at 70.0 on the exchanges just incase he's out before nrnb
|
By:
he beat wolfcatcher on the flat who won a juvenile hurdle for bloomfields beating perceus - who has subsequently been stuffed by sceau royal receiving 8 pound
