![]() Come on Alf!!!!!! I don't actually think Alf will win the Gold Cup, I think RTR will, but I would like to see him given a try. |

kauto star could comeback from break dancing, possibly?

I know we are the bestest of friends Howdi, but do you think Conti & Road Yo Riches are that bad? I think they're good sorts.

the irish hoss jury out for me, maybe decent but beat a rancid bunch today by G1 standards |

I must be one of the few that thought the lexus was a poor race

Well it did contain last years 1st and 2nd Gold Cup horses and the current fav for this seasons Gold Cup was beaten in that Gold Cup, plus a former winner of the Gold Cup was a long way behind.
I guess no wonder you are one of the few. Rancid bunch!!!!???? Love to know the horses he could have faced that are so much better. |

kauto star , denman, imperial commander,

sometimes i wish the gold cup wasnt such a test it was - i know it sounds daft and it is a great race but KEMPTON has the best horse of the year winning it, not cheltenham

what is hendo doing with his horses this past 18 months
|
|
By:
i thought bobs worth run was tragic i fear he'sa gonna.
|

By:
if i had to bet one horse for Gold Cup it may be ON HIS OWN - big stayer and thats 80% of the battle
|
|
By:
I don't buy into that at all. The race was one by a good horse beating other very good horses. This might have been his gold cup. It wasn't theirs in the main.
|
|
By:
how many chase winners has hendo had?
|
|
By:
Well that's ya Gold Cup standard now,so it don't really matter when discussing this seasons race, whether you think them rancid or not.
Looking at this seasons form he looks the best of the ones that did not contest the Gold Cup last season, and last seasons horses are at this moment looking his biggest dangers, the race today puts him right bang there, and imo now the likeliest winner. |
|
By:
If I had to bet I'd side with Silvi or Lord Windermere. No changes yet.
|
|
By:
you may be right but im not having it that this is anything but a poor renewal
|
|
By:
denman could have set off 2 mins late and beat this lot

Well Conti was beaten less than 2 lengths in last years Gold Cup and seems a better horse this year, and didn't touch a twig in the KG.
Road to Riches has beaten the best in Ireland which would put him bang in there, but remember that's he's never even been to Cheltenham. Skipped the Albert Bartlett and the JLT/RSA, so he's going into the unknown. Surely Paul Nichols thinks Conti is better than Sam Winner and he looked like winning at one point. |

its a game of opinions thats for sure why we love it

Shutthefrontdoor could be an interesting runner???

Think we need to remember that the ground was not at all ideal for RTR. Very important when discussing his performance today and the proximity of horses he beat.
Hes won despite the ground showing true staying power, proper Gold Cup type looks to me,and to be honest I don't see a weakness. Yes Cheltenham may not suit, who knows, but I see no reason for that to put anyone off backing him, and after all the current fav - weve been told in the past by his trainer that hes better on flat tracks- has failed twice in the Gold Cup. |

his profile is interesting be great if he did it.

Whether we think this years crop is good or not, this is who we can choose from.
I never like a horse that had been beaten before but Conti has looked improved this year. Nichols has said he had suffered from ulcers last year so the is every belief he can run his race this year. The two big trials for the Gold cup are always the George or Lexus. Maybe not the winners but the nearly rans are also worth considering. Personally I can't have any of the placed horses from the George. The winner of the Lexus I like a lot (pocket talking) but I can't see why the placed horses can turn the form around. Perfect age for the race, showed stamina and fight and the old guard are just that. OLD. |
