Beat My Tent or Yours and Jezki in the Supreme. That's class. In my opinion, would have won Arkle last year if had one more prep run for experience but Mullins cocked it up.

The problem on this forum is that it is Willie Mullins obsessed. Year in year out the threads are dominated by this guy. He is not as good as certain people on here think he is. Champagne fever had no chance yesterday. None. It could not stay 3m at this point in time. Djakadam in the Hennessey was another shocker. Whoever backed that at 5-1 would be better off playing the virtuals

Not once did you comment on the George thread regarding how Champagne Fever had no chance over 3 miles. Yet you think it's ok to bark how you knew he had no chance AFTER the event.

Who is Eric Morris? Sorry but I joined the forum on March 2014 and this is my first and only username which coincides with my twitter account of the same name. 9 months is a long time to establish who is who on here. You only have to go through previous threads.

Alleged, I don't have a clue about the Gold Cup personally. I'm a big fan of Silviniaco Conti but not round here. My focus at the start of the season was Morning Assembly but he hasn't been seen. I also had Cue Card in the back of my mind but that's gone.

morning assembly on the way back and apparently being aimed at the Irish National mate.

Still waiting for one of last years RSA horses to put down a marker for the Gold Cup - maybe Carlingford Lough or Sam Winner can do that today?  Many Clouds has to a certain extent, but I don't see him as a live Gold Cup threat to be honest (won the Hennesey off 9lbs less than when Bobs Worth did it as a second season chaser).

The Don is the one to take from the RSA so far, but he must be Ryanair bound now having been taken out of the Lexus?  Morning Assembly was one on my radar, but if going for Irish National, that only really leaves Smad Place out of the others, and he needs to step up massively on his Hennesey run.

I'm still not sold on Lord Windermere - harsh based on what he's acheived, but if he wins today, I'll defintiely be showing him more respect.

yep, pleased with both RTR and SW today, 2 good performances. I had reservations about 3m2f for RTR but after seeing that on ground plenty soft enough for him,i am quiet confident he will be ok.

Another very good performance from Road To Riches there.
He keeps coming up with the goods every time he climbs the ladder. Proven on all ground over a variety of trips too.
Will have a major chance in March imo.

Well we now know the pecking order in England and Ireland.  That was no fluke from RTR and confirmed the form from the JN Wine and Conti confirming the form of the Betfair.

I'd be surprised if one of those two didn't win in March.

Stats on Conti are rancid mind Chielf. Horses dont normally win gold cups in their 3rd attempt.

Yeah mate, I accept he hasn't the best record but I think the cheekpieces have made all the difference.

I don't think the track suits him as well as others, but think his ability will get him through.

I actually think conti hasn't won a gold cup yet merely on bad luck more than anything. Yes it was too far out 2 years ago when he fell but he was absolutely cantering at the time and last year he went violently right then left for no apparent reason. Agreed he probably could have benefited from the cheekpieces last season.

And i know the stats on 3rd attempters are dismal but a fair few decent horses have pulled it off. I think if everything clicks this time, conti can do it 3rd time lucky!

Hope so STS. I did a similar bet to you but Betfair and Gold Cup double at 40's. Have a nice little single at 12's as well.

Road to Riches deffo the one I fear most. Sam Winner a little to close for my liking if I was a RTR backer though, although there's no doubt he has improved this year.

Wouldnt see the proximity of Sam Winner as a negative. One of the better staying chasers around in the mud.

RTR just beat a few Gold Cup types, race full of stayers. Think it highly likely that the Lexus beaten horses will figure much better than the KG beaten ones in the Gold Cup, although I still feel Al Ferof is a Gold Cup type even if his trainer dont.
By:
wellchief
When: 28 Dec 14 19:35
Yeah, Lexus had more strength in depth and a more Gold Cup trial than the KG.

KG was full of Ryanair types, but for supposedly speedier horses, at no point could any live with Conti.
