Un de seaux to win the champion hurdle??Laugh What you laughing at, you think Rocky Creek will win the GC ffs ![]() ![]() |
By:
No mate I've got Silviniaco Conti at 40/1 to do King George and Gold cup double.thats who I think will win the Gold Cup.next question?
By:
Well I think hes a very interesting unexposed horse that really could be anything, and visually he looks the type to make a big impression on this field from the front.
Of course Ruby is unlikely to jump off the fly,but That wont mean UDS aint a threat. |
By:
The five year old is unbeaten in five career starts and the leading jockey believes that the French import is firmly in the 'could be anything category'.
"He's a cracking horse. How good could he be? How long's a piece of string? He's been very impressive in everything he's done," he told Racing UK. "He's a straightforward kind of horse in that he wears his heart on his sleeve and jumps out and goes a good gallop. I'm not sure where he's going to go next but I'd imagine he has to have a step up in class. "I think he could be a Champion Hurdle horse one day. The New One won't need a pacemaker if he runs! He's a really, really good horse and it would take a fair horse to get past him," he added |

Bally
I was joking, that was what the wink was for! I was pulling your leg because you was getting a bit excited over UDS being discussed as an interesting horse at the beginning of the season...by me anyhow, I don't think he'll even run in the race this year, but in the future he'll be a player. ![]() |
By:
Well Foyles for starters as I've said on TNO and Tent both at 7/1 so wee Tom can put up whatever he wishes.not that it matters to me.
By:
Why you not think he will run Duffy?
By:
Won't run this year but will go for it next year when Fly is no longer the main hope
By:
Incidentally Foyles I see Daqman of **** has issued a challenge to wee Tom and is laughing all over him...

By:
how do I find this challenge ballyd would be interesting
By:
Budd,
He didn't appear to christmas and then it was in an exercise canter race, don't know if he had had a hold up but it just doesn't look like they are that minded to have given him a proper CH campaign prep this year, he's got plenty of time on his side and especially with HF about it could be that they are minded to simply get more experience into him for the time being, he could run in it of course but not with a winning chance this year I think. |
By:
Fair enough.
Personally think it 50/50 him running, and Ricci's might well want a runner in the race. They may also think His presence might aid HF. As long as he don't beat him!! I have him at nice odds,so will admit to a spot of pocket talking, but genuinely I do feel he will add something unknown to the race, and that I like. |
By:
has Ricci a share in this one?
By:

Just watched the Ryanair Hurdle in full 3 times there (my first time seeing the race as I was away).
What seems so evident to me as a long time Fly fan is how different the horse is now. He's so settled and switched off in his races now. Was the same in the Champion Hurdle. He race with his head down and is totally switched off, then Ruby shakes him up to wake him and he lifts his head and starts racing. He won the race with 2 tactical pieces of speed coming to the last then after the last and then idles. The horse has matured from the one that was oh so keen in his races he'd waste so much energy. I think the new Fly will be woken up coming to the 2nd last in the Champion Hurdle instead of the plan of old to try hit the front coming to the last. I think the energy the horse saves now in the early part of his races could be why he looks to have a bit of longevity in him. He settles very well now. Tactics will be changed as the horse has matured, the greats can still do with when they lose a bit of speed. Kauto turned into a gallant front runner in his latter years. Fly will improve for that run, I'd expect him to improve more for the run than Jezki who had been primed for that race I'm sure. Our Conor is still a live danger, young improving horse it was his first run over hurdles since March. It'll be interesting if he can turn around the form with Fly. I personally think Fly will win easier later this month as is nearly always the case in his past, he improves with racing. Now time to watch the Christmas Hurdle |
By:
I've watched the Christmas Hurdle now 3 times and can't split them. My Tent or Yours could be a seriously good horse if he didn't pull like a train for the whole race as he always does. While The New One would prefer not to be in front so long and that mistake at the last cost him. But his jumping has always been not good enough and it's still that way.
I really can't split them and they won't meet again until Cheltenham. For me the last bit of info we can get is where Jezki comes in relation to Fly at Leopardstown later this month. He has form with My Tent or Yours from Supreme and if he is brushed aside by Fly then we've got out Favourite. This is going to be a fantastic race. If Fly wins this he deserves to talked about as the best ever. Cracking race in store. |
By:
Jezki aint in the same league as the Fly.
The New One's jumping was good enough to whizz through and win the Neptune and stuff Zarkandar and Rock on Ruby. Still to see the Tent coming up that hill. Only thing that can beat Fly is his age in which case The New One will do him. |
By:
MTOY came up that hill in about 2 tenths of a second slower than TNO in March. How can people say he didn't come up the hill!!
By:
mtoy was only lost out in a tight finish last year, to a cannily ridden champ fever so cant say he didn't get up the hill.
By:
What I mean is when he is on the bridle a furlong out it remains to be seen if he's got the heart to sprint away from the rest. I've backed him ew at 7-1 and wrote off the win part personally.
By:
What is also great to see is that despite his age Fly still has that vital tactical speed, he put the race to bed in 3 strides after the last when he responded to a couple of cracks of the whip. He was 3 clear then stopped racing basically.
Our Conor will now no longer have a 3lb pull at the weights for his age when he faces Fly & Jezki again later this month. Jezki doesn't seem to have the tactical speed to be put into the race in the vital moment. I think Fly will smash the two of them convincingly when the face him again unless Our Conor improves quite a bit. He was beaten 6l when getting 3lbs and Fly will improve again for that run. Our Conor will need to improve close to a stone possibly to win. At least 10lbs anyway and I can't see it tbh. Sametegal was beaten 28l in the xmas hurdle and Our Conor beat him 18l in Triumph. The collateral form backs up the result. Our Conor probably a few lbs worst than Jezki. Hard to fully judge him until he runs again which he deserves to, but I'd doubt he'd reverse form with either Jezki or Fly 3 horse race is shaping I think. My mind is slowly accepting I have underrated The New One, I can't split him and My Tent or Yours at all now. |
By:
Course Tent came up the hill, and now hes stronger should come up it better, but CV is right he does pull a lot in his races and that could prevent him winning.
Hes an up and coming improver though,so is TNO and I too cant separate them, but they are big threats for sure to the current champion. Having said all that, im Still waiting for a horse to show me they are up to the Fly's standards. |
