Already looks a 2 horse race between CF and TDS - actually prefer TDS of the two so have had a nifty on each with VCR NRFB..

Mullins said: "That looked impressive to me. He is in the Drinmore, but that might come too quick for him. We'll see how he comes out of this. His jumping was very good at the business end. Ruby said he idled in front, so that would lead you to believe there's more in the locker.

"We 'll see, I might put him by until Christmas. He had a tough race today, they went a fair lick the whole way - they were at it from three out and he had a tough last half-mile. I'm conscious of that when thinking about the rest of the season.

"I don't think he needs to go up in trip, I'll be happy if he stays at two miles, he looks well within himself over that trip."

well what do we make of that...maybe he'll run them both in the arkle...ShockedMischiefLaugh

oh dear this could end up a sweat job for the punter all winter with champagne and yonger in regards the arkle, if they both progress of course

TBF guys, and as I'm sure Harry remembers from the Peddlars Cross threadDevil, I did say it was a one horse race 2 years go and got that right.

Anything that puts in a good performance early in the season generally is a bit over done with regards to peoples opinions by simple fact not much else has yet...TDS, lets see where he stands come march

He's a very decent horse but as I made clear last year when many posters were saying he was a great bet for the Supreme, he just isn't quite up to top Grade 1 level.

The only worry is that if he keeps winning he may affect the campaign of TDS.Confused

DB was impressive in the end, I slightly wonder if he is more of a jewson horse because I don't think he's really classy enough and today he got better the further they went, he was sticky early on and in an arkle it would be all over before he got going.

Cheers Glossy. I'll have a watch shortly. Nice 'problem' for the owners to have.

While they are all very good horses and will win plenty of races I don't fancy BS, FY or DB for the Arkle in March.

Fair enough mate.

I do think they are likely to be aimed at the Arkle, whereas your 2 I would not be so sure.

very bold punkle...it won't happen but if yonger turns up against fever i'll have a monkey match bet on the yonger horse...i'd want 2-1 of courseGrin

I started this thread way back in March - funny it's still going! Looking back at the horses I named in the opening a lot of them aren't in contention (most never were!).

I know it's early in the season but I think Champagne Fever is the one for me. I think the Supreme was very strong last season and Champagne Fever is clearly very good - obvious I know. But if he gets to the last in the lead, he'll be very hard to pass. He looked a beaten horse in both the Bumper and the Supreme with a furlong to go - it's this tough quality that makes him so endearing. I would not see be to be concerned if he doesn't win all his races in Ireland. Cheltenham and better ground two things that bring the best out of him.

Also he was fast enough to win a Supreme with two class horses My Tent or Yours and Jezki behind, so I really don't see two miles in the Arkle an issue.

My take on the Arkle this early on in the season is that this race could cut up pretty badly if certain protagonists dont perform in their respective novice/beginners chase debuts etc. Of what we have seen so far, DB to my eyes has been the most impressive, with CF the obvious selection. I have taken 16/1 just now each way with that view that CF could go off odds on come March 11th with very few runners. Which case the 7/2 any race with billys may also look attractive.

hope you all piled in too some CHAMPAGNE at 7/1 wn lads pushed it out ....am well happy with my 8/1 and 7/1 i took earlier
this horse is a winning machine and could have a very easy race in the arkle with them all dropping like flys @ the moment
glad to have him on my side at the moment anyway but long way to go as we all no guys Cool

Champagne Fever didn't perform to his best last season possibly wasn't 100% on those days but also the heavy ground was a factor in some of his performances. I would not be shocked if he gets beat over the Christmas period and doubts start surface over his Arkle/Jewson/RSA credentials. His price in that case would go up. However I think come Cheltenham and come the better ground, he's a serious horse. But that's provided that his confidence isn't affected in any potential losses.

I was a big Dodging Bullets fan in last year's Supreme, ground possibly went against him the week of the race but I was disappointed how he faded tamely that day.

FY was more impressive against better opposition and mullins says he's happy at 2 miles with him, CF will have to be on his toes, lucky they are different owners or he could find himself being shunted up in tripGrinSilly.

Yep,agree with that, thought FY was very good yesterday.
Looks a proper 2 miler, and can see why they will stay at 2m.

I might be being daft but I did not see anything yesterday that puts me off DEFY LOGIC for Arkle. Both DL and Felix Yonger ran excellent races and both look exciting novice Chasers. DL is almost certainly a 2 miler whereas FY could step up to Jewson distance for sure. Losing a race in November going right handed over 11 obstacles which didnt speed up until half way is no certain guide for a fast run from the start Arkle going left handed over 13 obstacles with a bl00dy great hill at the end. I still like DEFY LOGIC for the Arkle.

I'm hoping Felix Yonger lines up in the Jewson, because I backed him at a big price about a month ago.  I think he'll be a major player in the Arkle or Jewson, but I have a feeling he will go for the longer race, despite what Willie says.  16/1 NRFB is a cracking bet though for the Arkle, so I think I'll have a bit of that as an insurance policy.

I think we've seen some really good Jewson types already this season.

insurance policy aint a bad idea with Mullins horses!!

After just watching last seasons Supreme win, and watching him race over fences this season, there is a nagging feeling in the back of my head he finishes 2nd, 3rd or even 4th in this seasons Arkle, before a win in the gold cup of 2015, i know, this is a massive speculation and it is a very long time away in a race horses career/life but we have all seen countless horses do just that haven't we. Let's see if any of use can name a few lol.
I will start off with
