Amen to that! Ascot a week later there is a 2m novice I think?

How often does an out and out speed merchant win the Supreme though RC?!

Very true CCM, very true!

I think this horse will take a world of beating in the Supreme.... definitely think its the right race for him.

Ground likely to be softer on Tuesday than Wednesday if recent past any guide. Not sure if this would decide which race he takes in?

People questioning this horses speed I'm sure Nicky would know. Speed is certainly something that can be compared on the gallops and Nicky wouldn't be short of pacey 2 milers.

If Nicky really believes he is 'all speed' why has he run him over the 'wrong trip' - twice! Was that purely to confuse punters?

He "looked" like he didn't stay at Sandown, even though he has won at 2.5ml. He was outstayed by a horse that is 4 from 4 this season, all graded races which includes a Grade 1. This years Supreme looks wide open and you have to say he has, imho, by far the best form going into the race, but not at 2ml. If it's a typically run Supreme, I can see BJG tanking along in behind, taking control over the last and up the hill.

So he has the second best form over 2m4f which on better ground there is a fair chance he should improve upon or no form whatsover at 2m. And it's odds-on he goes with the second option?

Look I'm sure they are just going to try him out. Personally I think the reason they wanted to run him in the Neptune was purely because he has so many 2 mile novices. I think he'd have a good chance of reversing the form with Fingal Bay because he was still inexperienced compared to FB and at one point he did look the better horse. Whether he failed to stay or it was due to the ground we know as much as they do. I'm sure he would see 2 miles out very well though and he does appear to be very quick.

None of those other two mile novices have suddenly gone away and removing Simonsig appears to leave him with nothing obvious for the Neptune.

Not sure DD - Mono has drifted like a barge and it is not inceivable that Darlan might go the handicap route.

Like Sprinter last yr, Henderson also seems at pains not to take Captain Conan (who I think would need further).

I do hope he runs CC in the Neptune. Only because I'm on at 33sGrin

Surely not a wild statement to say he will run 2 or 3 in each is it? As far as Darlan is concerned that's surely AP's ride anyway.
By:

When: 09 Feb 12 20:48
nope,could well run 2 or 3 in each,different owners.

To me, the Moorebattle entry complicates matters further.

Am assuming that he goes to Newbury if it's on and that will be an easier race to evaluate. You need to stay well to win at Kelso, so what would that tell us if he were to win or run well there?

Simonsig looks a immature horse to me and not sure he finds a lot for pressure.
He could mature and fill out with time .

Simonsig to face five in Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso tomorrow

Not sure what to make of that. Either NJH wants to keep his thoughts to himself or he simply does not want to run at Newbury giving potentially very talented rivals weight.

Surely running at Newbury would have given him a better idea re Supreme though

It's also quite a trek to Kelso. It suggests to me he intends to run one or two of his other good ones at Newbury.

Morebattle is a claas 2 and looks and easy pot. Ronnie Bartlett is a Scot, so he will be very happy to be supporting Scottish racing too.

Nothing from Henderson amongst the quotes in today's Racing Post preview - was the phone off the hook? Why is it so difficult for him to level with the public regarding Simonsig's target? I say the public because I wonder in situations like this how much information certain members of the press actually release - surely someone has asked the question. It is not as if the horse is involved in some sort of handicap plot.

Anyone balls deep on him for the Supreme must be a bit worried after that interview.

Sounds to me like they havent really got a preference at this stage, and everything will depend on his run today. If you believe anything he says, that is Plain

I think that's pretty obvious how it's been all along. Never once been mentioned that he's going for the Supreme. I've backed him at 14's for the race but if they feel he's more suited in the Neptune that is where he will go. I think a lot will depend on what Barry Geraghty wants to ride in the race.

The flurry of money for the Supreme in recent weeks has taken him to favouritism with some firms though MM. And his price has barely altered for the neptune. Thats alot of people guessing the same thing...

Unbelievable engine and going to make some Chaser.

Obviously very impressive, but one of those rides where it was hard to say just how much he had in reserve.... I'd be very surprised if its not the Supreme after that.

Didn't he jumped particulalry well but a predictable move in the market.

Favourite for the Supreme is a bit of a poison chalice ;-)

Hope you're right CCM but he wasn't stopping and he humped a decent staying type in Knocakara Beau. He certainly looked like he'd get further if they want.

Think he beat them because he had too much speed though stront.... hard to say how much he had left if he had to go another 5f. Only Barry will know! But with that much speed in his armoury, the Supreme looks the one.

I suppose the jumping is the only question mark and the slower pace of the neptune could help that.

Could have gone round again. Lots of speed and stamina and he has the sign of a class horse. In regard to his target I think he would run well in both Nept. or Supreme. A lot of people knocking his jumping I noticed but a lot of that imo was down to them not really going fast enough. Plus to me it looked like Barry put him in close to a few to try and teach him to fiddle a couple. Very pleased with that run and would be the one to beat in the Supreme I think.

When: 15 Feb 12 16:27
If anything was more impressive the further he went - so unless you have backed him for the Supreme you would possibly think Neptune on the basis of that. In any event with the second favourite running a shocker you have to question what he actually achieved. Why are we still waiting to find out some news - what is Gordon Brown doing?
