DARLAN:IMO it was a great run yesterday,Mccoy chose him over Get me out of here(who had an obvious chance)only 5lb between darlan and zarkander and hes been cut from 7s to 6s for Champion.
If he won he prob go up 5/6lb.That would put him on 151. Would have a right chance in Supreme Novice off 151. Henderson had 2 novices cantering last year down the hill. PADDY POWER cut into 7s.sounds about right. |

Yeah I saw that as well BJG but wasn't sure if there had been an update given the massive prices on here now.
Appreciate he misses key stat in having not won last time out, and dont know how long it will take to recover from whatever was wrong with him, but seeing as there were 'excuses', seems very big price |

He's ok Tory. Taken it easy this week but eating up well and his work will be slowly stepped up a bit now. Just have to take it a couple of days at a time and see how he is, but still fully intend to run, unless we get any negative vibes. I'll keep you posted on here. Cheers

A lot of talk on here re Darlan, very informative & much appreciated. Read an interesting article on the OLBG site back in November saying how he was held in high regard. So took some 32-1 but not a great deal, as ever wish I'd speculated more. My point is that everything you read regarding the Betfair Hurdle there isn't anyone who wasn't seriously impressed with the way the horse was travelling at the time he fell particularly those who were there. If he's over the fall, for me he's the one so plan to take some of the 14's today, we have to jump in somewhere. I already have a saver on Tetlami in the event he doesn't run. GL all.

Wont Darlan be running off a 3lb lower mark as he was wrong at the weights last time ? If so they might be tempted to go for another handicap? Just a thought but probably unlikely, a Grade 1 win would be more prestigious.
All The Aces puts the Montbazon/Volcanite form on show today at Huntingdon, although it is over 4 furlongs further. |

Not sure why he is bringing out All The Aces again look devoid of pace at Newbury, would have been poor 4th but for Colour Squadron falling at 2nd last who imo would have won.
Surely this was race Mono Man should have maybe run in, but what do i know. |

Darlan won't be pissing about in handicaps and after a lot of thought on the race I have him as the most likely winner. I also like Balder Succes if he goes down this route.

Unlikely Solving think his old rating is 138 which has not been enough to get in the past few years. It would be a great sight to see him jump around aintree but i'd rather wait and back him on the day IF he were to get in.

Fingers crossed Sint he deserves a start. I see you have a few doubts about Darlan? I have a feeling if he turns up & is over that fall, well we'll see, as usual I've gone by the old adage 'he who hesitates........' Although quite often in my case it ends with very light pockets. Hoping for a big run from Dodging Bullets on Saturday as I've backed it for the Triumph Hurdle think that one might be based on 'He who dares.... GL.

Sint it's a good point you make and many share the view that he may be better suited to a flatter track. I however don't think Cheltenham will particularly be an inconvenience to him. The form of his win at the course is very poor but he's clearly improving with every run and it was noted that he had not done much at home before the race. I do feel if he had stood up at Newbury he would have run Zarkandar, Raya Star & GMOOH very close when running off a high mark for a novice in the most competitive handicap hurdle of the season. The form of that race has already been franked with Sire De Grugy coming out and winning. A lot of people imo are reading Darlan all wrong and think he's a bit of a bridle horse. But from what I've seen of him when asked to he's responded well when shoved along.

Inclined to think the uk novices as a whole are a pretty weak bunch with the possible exception of Darlan
. As such I'm going to put a line through the lot of them. P.nicholls has a bunch of 4 y/o juveniles entered and if any of these line up I'll be having a look at them along with the Irish runners. |

The only doubt I have about Darlan Solving is the fall he took last time out. If he needs more time they might even wait for Aintree, but that is just pure guesswork until the trainer issues an update.
If Darlan lines up he has good a chance as any but you cant back them all and im already on Montbazon & Midnight Game at fair prices so that is my business concluded on this race!   |

With Fingal Bay on the drift for the Neptune, that probably makes it more likely that Simonsig will swerve the Supremen and go down the Neptune route, with one of his main rivals potentially being out.

Certainly like the look of Montbazon Sint & you may be sat on the winner has won really well. Tempted to have another saver but as you state can't back them all. Plenty of negatives re Darlan not least the way he handled the track you mentioned it & others have too although you could argue showed some battling qualities but perhaps thats my pocket talking. The one thing I liked was the way he was shaping coming to that second last fence looked to have plenty in hand in what was a pretty smart field, we'll never know what would have happened but I liked what I saw & thats good enough for me. GL getting mouth watering now only downside as I often say to the wife 'it's over far too quickly'!

Now that I've got rid of my Simonsig bet, it has to be Montbazon for me as well. Will have to back Tetlami as well because I can't sepearate the 2 through Vulcanite.
I think the 12's and 16's for both still represent a decent bit of value. |

Surely if Darla turns up on the day fit and well he'll be a strong favourit. If anyone is even considering backin Zarkander for the champion surely Darlan at twice the price is the bet for the supreme
