Dessie Hughes Weekender Trainer File today
"I am only going to be able to get one run into him before Cheltenham, If I am lucky. I had hoped we could get him ready for the Grade 1 hurdle this weekend, but time hasn't been on our side and at the moment I am aiming for the middle of next month for a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse. Having just one run before Cheltenham is far from ideal, but we have to deal with it and there is a very good juvenile hurdle at the Punchestown Festival if time works against us." |

By:
Brilliant at home - on track = ??
By:
Thats an extract from his stable tour above, he goes on to say:
"Whatever he does this season he has bags of class and a lot of scope, and I think we may have a very classy horse on our hands - potentially up there with the best I have trained" |

I cannot remember name of horse nor can i locate anywhere on this internet of archived entries for the triumph hurdle to try and find out, but am sure it was 2009, a horse, put up on this forum, a recruit from the flat, was all the rage for the race! It got backed big time from all rates into single figures, korals were biggest only being 10s and so despite having never seen it in public jumping a twig an antepost bet was persuaded, it come out in a typically weak novice hurdle and was very short, and was stuffed before half way!
I am sorry i cannot remember it, but unlike other years, where we seem to always have a steamer from the flat, this one was made significant, had an equally large thread wrote about it and the wheelbarrow was started, not saying this is the case here, (i hope not cos ive backed minsk also) but a word of warning. |

After Dildo
hacks up today and becomes the new triumph hdl fav, the 20/1 i took a couple weeks ago will be nice compo if Minsk of which i took 12s at same time goes elsewhere, however, the interview he gave channel 4 racing around about the same time as my bet was most encouraging so maybe just the trainer keeping every door open when mentioning punchestown, i.e he not as brilliant as first thought when on the track and may leave the triumph behind first time up, as it is a grade 1 he is entered in and for a first run in public could be a toughy and so could need longer between races![]() |

he didnt hack up and he isnt fav seathestars

By:
still waiting to see what the fuss is about
By:
The fuss Budd, is that he is/was high class on the flat, and if translating that ability over the jumps there won't be anything as naturally talented as him in the race. That's the fuss and hype.
By:
Lets put some common sense into this. From the replays of his flat runs, he looks a big stuffy horse who will need a run to put him right. He certainly needed the length of the Curragh straight to get on top in one of his races. Physically, he looks to me like he will stay beyond 2 miles so the hustle and bustle of the triumph may not be in his favour, can certainly see him being off the bridle and staying on.
Negatives are that hes by Dalakhani, im not a fan of them over sticks, they arent the most fluent and of his 42 runners, 12 have won but only 4 of them are rated 120+ over hurdles, given the elite pedigrees of the mares he visited and stamina influence he possesses, i consider these poor stats. From a positive point, hes a winner over 12 furlongs and is rated at least listed class on the flat, those stats will put him on any shortlist. His female line family is that of Tobougg, sire of some useful jumping types as well as Miswaki, the sire of Bachelor Duke (sire of Clerks Choice) so there is encouragement there. All in all, i dont see him winning, but he is certainly a player on all known form and in a race that lacks strength and depth, he could easily be in the money. But without seeing him run, his price is all hype. |

Interesting Benkers. My most recent info came from a well known NH trainer at Down Royal last Wednesday who unprompted by me said he had seen Minsk murder a horse of Chas O'Briens on the gallops the previous week.I assume from that he is well ready.Next week should tell.By the way Benkers any views of Definite Article as a stallion?
