Dessie Hughes on A.T.R racing news now.
By:
Hughes-Horse very fit very well/took to hurdles like a natural does'nt fiddle at them/even though he won on G/F would like to see a bit of cut for Chelt and thinks Minsk would act on heavy.

2.5% INTEREST ....................FROM SIX AND A HALF THOUSAND ..VIEWS ...MINSK AT UNDER ..10/1 ...............?
By:
Q: What can we expect on Saturday first one over the obstacles?
A: Yea expect a good run from him. He schools well, he looks a natural he's able to fiddle a hurdle well and good and quick when he meets one wrong he's not stupid and he's fit, I think he's fit enough to do himself justice. Q&A's about timing of his schooling, he's done quite a bit, very happy with him. Q: What you want to see from him on Saturday to justify going to Cheltenham? A: He'd nearly have to win wouldnt he to justify that price, he looked a very good horse in the Cesarewich and he looked quite good in the ladies race he won on quicker ground up the Curragh, for me I think he wants soft ground I think he'll go on heavy ground I'd be hoping if we get to Cheltenham there'd be a good cut in the ground. |
By:
Did not see on TV but if that really is the case about the ground, then current price truly is ridiculous and likely to go shorter if he wins at the weekend.
Its all well and good winning a flat race on g/f, but jumping a hurdle on it is another matter and it would be odds on to be good ground at this stage |

HORSE HAS TILL FRIDAY , JUST UNDER 3 WEEKS AFTER SAT COMING TO GET IT RIGHT .RUNNING SWEETLY UP THE HILL IF STILL AT BUSINESS END ,,CAMMY MIGHT JUST PULL IT OFF ,SADDLERS RISK AS A SAVER ...2 AGAINST FIELD ? LAST TIME AP CAME UP WAS RED RUM THAT WASN'T YESTERDAY ..ON AT 33/1 8.5 K NICE AT THAT TIME .
By:
Not likley to be too much cut in the ground by Friday unless it hammers down during the week.
By:
Surely from your thinking the trainer wouldnt have made it clear they were aiming him at the Triumph if they were that worried about the ground as it would be doing the bookies a favour hyping him for that race then pulling him out, everyone knows it is normally a little quicker as the meeting goes on including Dessie Hughes. He has won on quick so think cut was stated as a preference rather than a requirement. If it was then then wouldnt have made it so clear the Triumph was the aim.
By:
then they wouldnt have made it so clear the Triumph was the aim.
By:
Eric as stated did not see/hear the interview.
Good luck to all of you who are on, I hope the gamble comes off for you. Just think that the price is plain bonkers, even more so if he is suited more by cut. Taking that kind of price before he has jumped a hurdle, surely you would want everything in your favour? |
By:
Well Cammy has a bigger price but yes he is joint favourite now. He has won on different types of ground and as mentioned anyone who knows anything about Cheltenham knows it generally gets a bit quicker by Triumph day why would they state he was going for the Triumph so strongly if they were worried about the ground ...
By:
Because he's 4 and doesn't have a handicap mark and that makes the Triumph the only realistic option.
It's only his current price that's bonkers. Noone is writing him off as a potential winner. |
By:
Yeah but surely it isnt a realistic option at any time when they, as everyone else, know the ground gets a little quicker if it would be an issue.
By:
so why mention it?
By:
Good question why wait until now to mention it which makes you think it wont be a real issue otherwise they would have been saying all along that he only goes for the Triumph if there is a downpour making the ground softer than normal on Triumph day.
By:
Someone mentioned on here the other day, his sire (Dalakhani) hasnt got a great record with its Hurdlers,
So thats got to be another negative, if he's as short as 6s for the Triumph, what sort of crazy price is he gonna go off on saturday?? More than likely odds on,So we'll have a horse who's yet to jump a hurdle in public possibly going off odds on in a grade 2 hurdle, incredible. |
By:
Seen it before in the Triumph but Cammy will know at the weekend whether his 16s and down is a good price.
GOOOAAANNNNN CCAAAAMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY |
By:
guys the 7s have even dried up now ? i did warn yous yet again to get on before sat with hills
this gamble is on full swing now but i understand that many of these come unstuck , lets hope the mighty MINSK isnt one of them, cant wait till sat everyone will be round @ cammys with all there jumpers over there heads dancing in the lounge celebrating and shoting on this young pretender ..MINSK ............... CMON DO IT FOR GLASGOW CAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY ![]() |
By:
Good luck Cammy. Hope you'll be calling him Minsk and not Mince after the race!
By:
Think i might be laying him on Saturday now at least for my stake on the triumph, after all, he will end up either 2s fav for triumph or 33/1 and sooo many come unstuck. GL with it cammmy, i for one will be routing for him, but at the likely prices he will now be on Sat first time up over hurdles in a grade 2 he has to be laid at anything shorter than evs!
By:
Plenty of negatives ( a ) stable form ( b) may want further than 2m over hurdles and ( c) reportedly may go back to John Oxx for a flat campaign.
Certainly won his races in style at the Curragh but looked a well h/capped and improving 3 yo- now faces a stiff ask even on Saturday whatever about winning the Triumph, |
By:
He quite simply has to be laid big time on saturday if hes evs or shorter, looks to be up against one or two decent sorts,
and even if he hacks up on sat ill be laying him at the festival as he'll no doubt go off a silly price, Good Luck to those who are on at big prices though |
By:
How much you going to lay him for on Saturday, Snaff total liability if Evens or less?
By:
Couple of hundred,i wouldnt imagine there's many horse's who win grade 2 races on debut
By:
Like i have already said, i am on him at 12s for the triumph BUT would be willing to lay him at least for that stake on Sat' if evs or shorter.
By:
well i beg to differ lads i will be having my total cheltenham stake on MINSK on sat if hes evs or above
this horse is a machine LAY @ your peril you will see the triumph winner win on the steel on sat ![]() |
By:
I hope we do cammy, honestly, i really do! I hope i for one will be giving praise on here come 1:40pm 16th March!
By:
Funny thing is,Zarkander won the Triumph last year, and won the adonis on his debut at odds of 8/1,
after the race Nicholls said he worked like an average horse at home, they didnt have a clue how good he was gonna be, So they can work like Champions or donkeys at home, but until they get to a race track in a competitive then no one knows how good or bad there gonna be,We shall see |
By:
dont be fooled by those comments snaff they knew how gud zarkander was alright
![]() as they do with most horses in there stable id like to no who minsk has been working with in dessies yard for them to think so much of him ? could be the best in the yard ? u thought abt that m8 evs will get hoovered up on sat imo cant wait ![]() |
By:
minsk o lord

By:
dont be fooled by those comments snaff they knew how gud zarkander was alright
Care to explain why he went off an 8/1 shot in the adonis if they knew how good he was? ![]() |
By:
MINSK i backed him at 12/1 now this horse travels and has gears mid race and a finish and plenty of stamina,IMPROVING he improved massivley on the flat finished up being rated 106 now by the time Triumph Hurdle is upon us it will be 5 MONTHS just try and imagine how much he may have improved in those months if he jumps he wins, dont think he needs further most trainers reckon you need abundance of stamina in a juvenile for this assignment
By:
by the way when he wins on sunday he will be 5/2 for triumph and on the day lower than mysilv 2/1 once the green army get stuck in
