Jockey Barry Geraghty: "Going off too quick was the only way Sprinter Sacre was going to get beat so the main thing was to keep him relaxed. He settled better today and he wasn´t as extravagant early, which meant I could keep him back and not get competitive. I had an easier time today than I did at Newbury. He coasted in really"

Having given JT plenty of stick pre race, I'd like to point out that CC ran a super race and stuck on very gamely, albeit outclassed. He will be well suited by a step up in trip.

That Al Ferof was ever gonna have the speed to give this horse a fright Laugh What an animal. Al Ferof is a lovely Gold Cup prospect next year.

well done all SS backers, the only negative i can see is that perhaps for the next 2/3 years we are going to see a great horse in a lot of great races with absolutely no opposition up against him....what makes horses truely great is when there are a couple of real top notchers in it together....kauto denman.....moscow flyer, azerty...well chief....we aren't going to have the enjoyment of these battles so for the foreseeable the queen mother is going to be a walkover which is a bit of a shame....it ain't SS fault though.Happy

A lot of top horses are fluffing their lines against Sacre.

It cant be a coincidence.

He breaks their hearts or the other horses are aware of his aura.

Cue Card ran a belter in defeat, think he's a probable Ryanair horse

Sprinter is amazing

My concern was always the undulations as a whole rather than the hill at the end! Certainly looked the same horse as on a flat track and jumped magnificently.   Yet again raceform times are going to say he is winning more slowly than topspeed does, 4 different tracks now that has happened which is weird, little doubt he could do a faster time if he needed too so not cribbing him.  Bit shocked at the RPRs given out here though.  SS 176 - he looks capable of that but they gave Cue Card 167 in order to give SS that rating?   That would have Cue Card winning pretty much any Arkle in the last three decades and about half the champion chases in that time.  Do we really believe that?

Well, no thieves. But CC would've won a fair few Arkles with that run. All agree that the key to him is getting him settled and putting in a clear round, nobody has ever doubted his engine and he is clearly top notch when it all comes together.
Menorah is a classy animal and put in a relatively good round and was a mile back. Ruby was already niggling when AF made his mistake and looked booked for 3rd at best to my eyes. I also didn't think his mistake was that huge, though acknowledge that the effect of any error in a breakneck 2m chase can be magnified.
Although they've put Cue Card up a chunk from his last win, he barely jumped a fence that day, while yesterday was very different. It would be hard to not give him a hike for that performance.

Ratings inflation is getting out of control IMO.  SS is going to end up rated 200 at this rate!

FF, it was a message to me to tell me to lay my SS QMCC bet off, from the "Antepost bets so far" thread.

Masterminded, out of interest, did you take some of the big prices on Sprinter last year for the QMCC? (page 15 on this thread)  It was actually reading your posts ages ago that made me email the bookies, because you had big prices for his Arkle win before his Supreme Novices run.

Hi WC no I missed the boat totally for the QM big prices. I think I was offered 6 or 7/1 when he was still about 5/2 for the Arkle. It made more sense at the time to top up on him for the Arkle rather than tie up money. I have backed him to remain unbeaten and a single on him for QM before the Tingle Creek but not the tastiest of prices I have to admit. I believe you have a nice price I remember you posting about it?
By:

Yeah mate, some decent prices were knocking about post Christmas, but as you say it means tying up money and then there's so many things that can go wrong in 15 months.

Have to admit I've backed Simonsig for next years King George and Gold Cup, and Grandouet for the Arkle.  No idea if Grandouet is going chasing but think he would make a great chaser, so that's a really speculative one.  If it comes off you look great next year, but then you can also end up looking like a spanner if they stay hurdling or flop as chasers.

I think next year, Hendo's chasers will be:

Gold Cup: Long Run, Bobs Worth, Simonsig (think he will be triple handed)
Ryanair: Finians and Riverside
Champion Chase: Sprinter
Arkle: Darlan and Grandouet (hopefully)
Jewson: Possibly Oscar Whisky.

That's good stuff WC, I wish I had the patience and the foresight to look ahead and do a few of those bets, I never do though, i did think about backing rooster booster for the following years CH as he was crossing the line in the county hurdle in the post Istabraq era but didn't get round to backing him till october, got 20's then, that's about the longest ante-post bet I've ever done thoughSad

could any list the email addresses for some of the bookmakers in regards to ante post quotes. Can't seem to find any email addresses on there websites.

Brooksie, I'd concentrate on 365 and Patrick Power personally.  These are the two who usually have much better offer than others and always give the best quotes for me.

365: support-eng@customerservices365.com - Just put your username, and what selection you want and they normally get back to you in a couple of hours

PP: support@paddypower.com - as above

Of the big high steet bookies, Laddies are usually the best.  Go to "help" on the top right hand side, then contact us, and then select the email web form.

If you like a price they give you, you just have to ring them up and put it on over the phone.

From my experience Hills and VC very rarely give long term prices out, and Stan James never do.

It is interesting to see what prices they give though.  Because there's no oddschecker prices, so they can't compare prices with each other and they vary hugely.  For example, 365 offered me 6/1 on Grandouet but Paddy offered 33's.  With Sprinter, 365 originally came back with 28's and VC 6's.  Before last year's Neptune I asked for Simonsig Champ Hurdle prices and 365 offered 33's, whilst Paddy Power were 10's (didn't take that one thankfully).

Good luck, and post back if you get any tasty prices Wink
