Ive heard Barry G does think SS is a machine and hence think he will win the arkle but I'm worried by all the money for Al Ferof today. From mid morning someone keeps putting up £3k amounts to back AF started at 4.3, then 4.1 and currently at 3.7. Is this someone with information there is a set back with SS.
Why not back AF earlier in the day when bookies were 3/1 NRNB. Possible answer is back AF and trade out when "news comes out about ss",clearly can't lay SS if in the stable, hope I'm seeing Ghosts and SS does turn up and it is just someone with big fancy for AF |

20 grand traded on Al Ferof at 3.65-3.7, and this must have happened recently as this is as low as he's been
By:
This has been happening now since about 4.30 today. SS drifting slowly and LUMPS up looking to back AF. Was 4.7 at 8am this morning now 3.65. Very odd. What price a McCain back-track ????
By:
Hope nothing is wrong as SS is the horse I am most looking forward to watching live this year. I have backed both ss and af .
Obv looking forward to the fly hacking up aswell |
By:
something definately wrong judging the betting,i have laid off and will back him on the day if he makes it
By:
lets hope he aint has the same antibiotics binocular had last yr!

If there is something wrong, why doesn't whoever is wanting that stack at 3.7 just take the 1200 at 3.65? If they know that something is wrong with SS and Al Ferof's price will inevitably shorten when it becomes public knowledge, then what difference does one tick make?

11/10 looks big price for SS
By:
Laid bet off going back him on day if he turns up.
By:
something was supposed to be amiss with long run this morning looks like its ss turn to attract the rumours
By:
first big race favorite of the week i'd expect the likes of c0rals to put 11/8 tuesday morning,if he's still in
By:
out to 2.2 now !

Odd one this.
There has similarly been a flood of money for Rock on Ruby today, again with nothing obviously responsible for the move. I can't help thinking that the two are linked. I might be wrong, but this doesn't smell of anything being wrong with SS. If you knew it was doubtful you'd be place laying too. My hunch is that someone like Ladbrokes are going to go 5-4 on SS in the morning as they have been stung by all the publicity that Hills are getting and the move for Al Ferof is independent and possibly linked to the plunge on Rock on Ruby. NJH will be well aware by now that he needs to come clean asap if there is a problem, and there are enough layers in that yard for all the money to be taken at just over 2. If you knew it had a problem wouldn't you be steaming into Cue Card and Menorah too? |
By:
could this just be the next horse to have an enhanced price with Hills in the morning?
By:
I tell you what. If all is well 2.2 is a MASSIVE price :)
By:
like the price you've laid pc at
By:
Could there be a link to the paddy power offer? Refunding any win bet if ss wins?
By:
Can't see how that would work. All will no doubt be revealed in the morning.
By:
Lots of money for AF and PP having to lay if off some of there liability. Hence the slight drift in price?
By:
Possible I suppose - not sure how PP hedge their liabilities.

I have to say in the days before the internet and betfair, we were blisfully ignorant of minor scares and drifts and i was a far happier, saner person! The sickening news on ceefax or in the Life was hard to take, but the rumours and suggestions and speculation makes me feel ill, especially when it concerns a horse like this. I wake up and check the markets hoping nothing serious has happened and repeat the process about 20 times a day. Fingers crossed for this one.

It's only a matter of time before I come out in shingles.

![]() I may be being melodramatic, but I absolutely hate this time of yr for just this reason. |
By:
Relax he'd be a lot bigger than 2.18 if something was up. He's a lot of people's lay of the festival, he's a so called "hype" horse and he's less than 6-5. Chilldown

By:
I think you mean "Chillax" fella :)
By:
I got 2's in powers on ss yesterday they enhanced him for bout an hour! Maybe they know something too!
By:
Having worked in a trading room for one of the big 4, i can guarantee that they will want to `get` Sprinter Sacre. He will probably go off 11/10 and Al Ferof will be strong. PP are really sticking their neck out though and will be frantically shuffling their numbers. They are all hoping the hill will catch Sprinter Sacre out. If i was backing SS im not sure where i would want the horse turning for home. We all know AF will stay on well up the hill. Perhaps SS backers would like to see him free wheel on and have 5L on the field approaching the last fence. Nerve racking just thinking about it.

I think you mean "Chillax" fella :) No I'm trendsetting "Chilldown" Think this not coming up the hill is being grossly overplayed. He stayed just as well as Cue Card and I dont see nobody saying Cue Card wont come up the hill |
By:
But Cue Card has already proved he can get up the hill. SS hasn't.
By:
SJ I agree. In any case I don't think we'll find out as he will be so far clear after jumping the last that it will be a hands and heels looking round job. Double figure winning distance IMO. All this from one of the more cynical forumites on here (I still struggle to think Kauto is the real deal !! And as for Grands Crus - don't get me started).
As for Chilldown, soz but it's gash :) |

cheltenham is a unique course that blends stamina with speed over any distance, SS clearly has the speed AF clearly has the stamina, what this race boils down to is SS stamina v/s AF speed... AF won the supreme so has some speed but does SS have the sufficient stamina..... personally think that at the prices SS is way too short

Every year there is a horse that can't lose... and then does. You think people would have twigged by now.
