Hi tlp,
Very nice. Have a good time. No particular thoughts on the races at this point. |

Have a good weekend tlp, looks a great card. Quite fancy Reggane to come back to form on better ground on the Saturday and also like the look of War Artist in the Abbaye, think he's been brought back well from life threatening colic and he'll improve again. The Fabre 2 year olds are interesting in the juvenile races, anyone have any thoughts on them?
I can't see past favourite in the big one, think he's one of the best ever. Travels so well, think Leopardstown proved his stamina by the way he finished, the ground will suit and he takes his races and doesn't look like showing any ill-effects. He's drawn perfectly as well. Good luck with your bets :) |

Looked at 2:10 Lei last night, but at work now. What's the deal with this Ice Diva being backed in ?
Never looked at it cos D'Arcy FTO record is rubbish, but someone knows it may be ready. Had Marie De Medici as possible winner, high draw may be the advantage she needs if there's not a lot between them at the finish. |
By:
Mind you, the amount of money matched is not great; they just seem to have telegraphed it's chances to the books. Maybe it's just a domino effect rather than connections.
By:
Hey PHS, just seen this, great call, did you back the Johnston thing?
By:
nope.
I believed in it, but I'm useless at knowing the right price. There seemed to be lots of support for several of the others, so I thought it would drift, so asked for 12's. At work, so wasn't able to monitor the books price. 9's was the price I should have asked for. When I looked 10mins before off, it was 6's, so left it. |
By:
There was a good post by argentum on HR for that race, so I invited him over here.
By:
I did lay D'Arcy's though, but again at the wrong price (last night).
By:
More the merrier imo. Least you took a profit on that race :)
By:
What does the RP race report say about this race please ? I thought she looked quite impressive, the front two pulling well clear (although that's not surprising, as I had only four possible winners).
By:
I'll have a look in the paper tomorrow, don't subscribe to the site.
By:
Huh! And there was me thinking it was only me that won't pay up.

There looked to e real depth to this maiden...not only does th 81 rated third give the fom substance, but the 12 year old juvenile course record was broken. It was also 2.32 seconds quicker than the handicap won by 58 rated Averoo who was carrying 4lbs less.
Marie De Medici back after 3 months off, improved with a likeable performance. She showed good speed and sustained her run right to line. Worth stepping up to pattern company and likely to stay 1 mile. Faithful One grabbed the rail and went off quickly, although not too fast judged by where the iwnner raced. She ran on to the line pulling well clear of the rest but was simply beaten by a better one on the day. Although she is beginning to frustrate with this being her third consecutive runners up placing, this was still a decent effort in defeat. Boogie Diva's past form suggests she is up to a 70 rating at least and gives the form a solid look. Sign Of Life, a half sister to Victory Note stepped up and should continue to porgress next year. Al Jaadi made good late headway Queens Envoy the same and should have learnt plenty. Ice Diva ran as if she was in need of experience plus her sire's progeny prefer soft. Eleanora was disappointing considering things looked ripe for her. Shortened it a little but all the main points are there. Not seen the race so couldn't say if I agree or not. |

Thanks ben. Sounds like it was a decent race.

3:40 Not
Unless the ground is not a soft as forecast, the well bred Anhar probably won't figure here, but I wouldn't want to lay, as much of the worthwhile opposition has already had a 2nd run and not shown a great deal. For me, it looks between Colonel Carter (Meehan 2TO) and Shernando, a FTO Hernando colt. The latter is a much bigger price than I would have anticipated, not usually a good sign with the Johnston stable. The former is not worth the risk at the current price of 3.3, so a no bet race, although I may try and trade Krymian to lose if it's overbet. |
By:
Not had a great look through, but the Johnston thing is interesting. The pedigree is a lot faster than first glance suggests and I'd expect him to run a big race. The Stoute one has claims; Fallons ride and the odds description reads like Ballinger Ridge but I'm sure it's nothing like that! The Meehan thing is obviously expected to step up on his debut and he shaped like the step up in trip would suit. Don't fancy anything else but money for the Guest horse is noted. Maybe try and get a look at paddock shots, see what the Johnston thing looks like otherwise it would be the Meehan horse for me.

The other division looks poor. Celidh House is backed but that just could be false money due to the race being poor. I expected it to be favourite if it is any good. Life and Soul should come on for the run and could be useful. The most interesting one is Cordiality who was 10/1 on debut which was short for something who's pedigree offers little. He could be interesting if some money comes for him again.

Another Godolphin irst time out winner, pretty good going. Desert Sage impressed as well.
By:
Yep, they're almost unbeatable at the moment. Took a little 30 on Shernando, and left a double stake lay up IR at 4. It reached 4, but not mine. 4.1 next time.
By:
Unlucky, good thing about MJ maidens is he sends them out in front so chance of trading :)
By:
Seems to be a lot less evidence for this Div2. Possibly Liberty Square to improve.
By:
Maybe Celidh House was pretty good :)
Looked useful that, probably best horse in both divisions. I think Godolphin horses now show what their capable of first time out so I wouldn't back any to improve massively, did improve though. |
By:
Looking at the times, you'd have to think it was at least GS there today, if not softer.
By:
4 maidens at Nby tomorrow

Any thoughts today, Racing Post have decided to make it inconvenient (but not impossible ;) ) to look up relatives. Thought Count of Anjou would have a good chance in the first. Like the Balding horse but think a drop back to 5 would be better. Money noted for Aultcharn and wouldn't surprise me to see State Gathering run well.
By:
I was just abut to post about that (relatives), and how it looked like I would be giving up looking at maidens without that info, but haven't found the new back door yet !

Just click on the sales and you can see the progeny that dam has had sold, also can see the useless ones which don't make it to the course. Plus if you read the pedigree info on the horse it tells you 75% of what you need to know, although not always 100% accurate. The site's a bit quicker so it saves a bit of time, agree it's not ideal though. If you're desperate to find a dam's progeny look on pedigree query but it's no good for form.
Think I over rated that maiden a little, encouraging late headway for the Hannon horse I thought and Strictly Dancing definitely needs to be dropped in trip. One in the middle moved really well but didn't catch it, was it Sweet Pilgrim? |
By:
Thanks ben.
Not looked at the 6f mdn's. I'm looking at the 2:45; looks too difficult. |
By:
Yeah I'm not really feeling it today, thought Tactician left a good impression behind the PCH hype job Coordinated Cut, will be interesting to see how he gets on at the very least.
By:
Yep, Tactician looked (I've got the race off CH4) like he'd appreciate some easier ground. See it was a backable price earlier. Got a list of 7 here that could win it, so just be a learning exercise for me.
By:
Btw, it's over the round mile, that race.
By:
Intersting, cheers PHS, not had a look through. Will probably watch the race and then see what I can pick out for future.
By:
It might be a distinct disadvantage being drawn wide. Half the field could be round the first bend before the wide runners catch up. I was looking at Primary Colours to place, but not now that I've realised above (dr 16).
By:
Wow, think they found the key to him then, make all plus step up in trip of course. Dam was placed in the Oaks so strange they were running him over 6 in the first place!
By:
Apparently, there was an error on RP reporter, now corrected;
2:34pm The mile round is at 5.00 A mix up earlier- the first race over a mile on the round course since 2001 is, of course, the handicap at 5.00 Hence, first three drawn high fits in with the usual draw expectancy. |

Hannon one of the few
Most trainers are at the sales, but Richard Hannon is present at his local course. He clearly fancies Kalypso King in the 245. He said:"He showed a lot of promise on his debut at Windsor, but I probably made a mistake running him again over 6f at Newbury. He ran ok to finish third but Ryan(Moore) said he was crying out for a step up in trip and, being by Giant's Causeway, the mile should suit him well." |
By:
Just looking at Dubawi Phantom (16:40 Asc) and noticed the dam's 2nd foal was sold for 250k Gns on Tue.
By:
See Kalypso King runs again today in the 2:35, small field and same front running tactics should see him win this imo. Would probably prefer it a bit quicker though.

'the stoute horse i am 100per cent sure needs soft ground and
thats what cost it the race close home.' LOL what a guessers thread if ever. |
