Just managed to get 11/4 Marine Spirit straight after Gold Crusher became non-runner but only by skin of my teeth.
1.50 Newb v.tricky with no obvious soft ground pedigree - have I missed anything? |
By:
marine spirit looks nailed on brad .he is the only one of the first 6 in the betting that looks certain to handle the ground the oter 2 i think
will handle the ground are centigrade and argyll who as you say probablly wont be good enough. and it wiil ask a lot of any horse to win first time out . ill post my thoughts on the newbury race shortly. |
By:
i think there are 2 who will handle the ground brad and 2 who have a chance of going on it. the 2 that i think will handle the ground are
navajo chief and practitioner the 2 that will possibly it are sabil sands and pallantes cross.the rest of the field i give no chance of acting on it. |
By:
Lay Preacher - Navajo Chief and Pallantes Cross are non-runners becuase of the going which surprised me because like u I think they had more chance than most of acting on it.
By:
I think I will leave that race alone. Going to have a look at Ripon.
By:
2.30 Rip
No1,7,12&13 are NR's No.3 Fly Silca Fly's form is narrowly the best and I think it will like the going. No.9 will improve over longer. Of newcomers No.2's sire loved the going but his 2--y-o progeny have a porr record on soft 2-40 (-1) No.4 comes from a stable who rarely have 2-y-o winners but pedigree gives it a chance : +1 0 No11 Tell me a Story is not a forlorn hope. : 0 +1 Conclusion Fly Silca Fly for me but w/o any great confidence |
By:
Hey guys, I had Marine boy down as the winner of the 2:00 as well. The 1:50 I had between Practitioner and Tukitinyoursock. I think preference for the latter who shaped nicely on his win, going away with the second by 8 lengths. Should go on, if not be improved by a bit of cut. Most interesting runner was Quiet Elegance, full sister to Reverence, not shown a lot this season but she's raced once on soft over 6f and won beating the useful Inxile and has only raced on firm over 6 this season, at 20/1 she looks worth a go if the ground doesn't dry out.

By:
Thanx Ben and Lay Preacher for yr views on 1.50 at newb - I will mull over what u have both said.
Got to go out now for the day so have a good day lads. |
By:
i am not confident fly silca fly will handle the ground brad.
the damsire being danehill is very worrying. however there is nothing in that race that is certain to act on the ground it is a race i would steer clear of. ben iam certain tukitinyasok wont handle the ground but there are so many in the race in the same boat .i make it between practitioner and sabii sands. |
By:
i would expect massive improvemment from public service on this soft
going in the 7.10 at haydock.it will take all the beating imo. |
By:
so much for massive improvement ran an absolute shocker tailed off
i had it in a straight treble with 2 other winners at haydock as well. ah well back to the drawing board. |
By:
only one horse for me today lads PONTING 7.20 southwell .
connections are desperate to get a win with this one. |
By:
You'd have to be to go to Southwell! You tipped that up last time out didn't you, was quite a big price early morning?
By:
last time it was bet from 12s to 100/30 ihad a bit e/w at 10s
ran well finished 3rd. they really think this horse is quite decent . becket has excellent record at s/well so he should know if it will cope with track. money been pouring on it all morning will be very disappointed if it doesnt win. |
By:
very poor run from ponting dont know what they will do with this now.
By:
the horse i liketoday is SOLEMN in the 8.55 at chepstow
i reckon he is the only one in the field who will properly handle this rain softened ground.also acts well on the course which i think ia a big factor at chepstow.any thoughts lads. |
By:
Sorry but I only do 2-y-o's non-h'cps and 3-y-o maidens so am of no use to u

3.10 Bev interests me today.
Miss Taken could well be Dubai Destinations first 2-y-o winner of the year. To me clearly the form horse and I don't like the two newcomers No.5 is -1 0 and No.7 was interesting until I saw who trained it. |
By:
You're probably right, looks a terrible maiden, I don't think I'll be playing. Thought the Johnston thing in the last at Goodwood might have a chance, the first in it's maiden at Yarmouth won a Listed race at Ascot the other day. I like Viking Dancer out of the unraced ones.
By:
cant get a real feel about anything in that race brad are you happy
with them bringing it back a furlong thought that was a bit strange even though bev is plenty stiff enough . the only horse i like toda y is over the jumps at worcester 6.50 TOT OF THE KNAR even though i dont like to see my money leaving the ground i think this will win. |
By:
Have either of you had a look at the Galway maidens?
By:
just a quick look at the 7.35 ben no real thoughts on it .
what about yourself. |
By:
Yeah don't think there's any real value in that race, too big a field to be taking the favourite even though she should win. The other one maiden I thought was interesting, the Weld horse looks awfully short and I think The Black Russian who's had a run this season should go well after shaping like a non stayer lto, there's some good form lines with the winner of that race as well, who he would have beat over 7.
By:
Thanx Lay Preacher I had a relook and had a 2nd bet on Tell Me a Story - so made a profit on race.
Thank you once again |
By:
Ben
No real ideas to put into the pot about Galway. As for Goodwood i agree that Lowdown is th ebest of those that have run but I have three well rated newcomers. No.1: +1 +1 No.5: +1 +1 No.9: +1 +1 So I will leave the race alone |
By:
nice shout on lowdown ben .
never seen the race at bev brad glad to see you ended in profit. |
By:
Cheers tlp. I see Tot Of The Knar bolted in, nice work, didn't realise he'd gone to Tim Vaughan from Peter Bowen.
By:
Had a look today lads? The Goodwood maiden looks good for the unraced ones now Poppy Seed is out. One stands out for me, Bonheurs Art at 10/1. Barry Hills can get them ready and this one has a speedy pedigree as well as being a decent priced purchase. There looks to be a few who want further so if BA knows her job then she could be clear before they've got going. Beyond Desire the danger I think but hopefully it will need the run more.
By:
Ben
I can understand why u like Bonheurs Art and have no negs to put u off. |
By:
The going could have a big influence at Goodwood if the rain arrives before racing. If it does rain, I like Dreamspeed in the first. Barathea was very quiet this year until July but has had 11 winners since July 1 in UK. It may just be chance but I don't think it is. The maiden could easily be run on soft at 4.30 but if it stays good, I like Beyond Desire.
By:
Cheers Brad. Good luck if you decide to back yours Sage.
By:
clerk of the course says rain not due until after 5 pm.
think the 1 to be on in the sussex is rip van winkle with the ground drying out.should be a cracking race whatever happens. |
By:
Don't like Bonheurs Art in the paddock but best of luck Ben
By:
Was too busy watching Galway so missed the paddock shots, but ran a decent race, winner looks useful, second better over further probably. Well done sage
By:
Not particularly clever to pick a favourite but I did put it up without looking at the betting. Invincible Spirit has had a lot of winners recently and the Cheveley Park entry seemed significant. When Barry Hills introduces newcomers they are either heavily backed and win or more often have a nice gentle introduction like that one. Worth a strong look next time.
By:
Dreamspeed was too far behind in the Vintage and was running on well when it was all over. I will be backing it again.
By:
Yeah, I was hoping to see some money, worth following though. Think that maidne will work out OK. Corporal Maddox could be one to follow from the Vintage. Long striding horse who lost momemtum at a key time.

Hey guys, probably not going to have a bet on the race but I thought the Goodwood maiden was quite interesting. Paul Cole's got a near enough full sister to Fantasia in the field so although a glance at the pedigree would make you think she needs a lot further but using Fantasia, who won over 6f you could give her a chance. The other one I liked was Candleshoe, there's a bit of a line through the Meehan favourite which gives her a chance if she comes on for her run. Any thoughts?
