Chelsea v Norwich Chelsea will be looking to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League when they take on a winless Norwich side this Saturday. The Canaries were torn apart by Liverpool at Carrow Road last week and unless there has been some dramatic improvements we should expect a similar outcome at Stamford Bridge this time. Norwich have won just one and lost six of their last nine Premier League away games, while Chelsea have won nine and lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games on home soil. Odds of 1.25 on a home win are more than justifiable. Opta also tell us that Norwich have the worst chance conversion rate in the Premier League so far, scoring with just six % of their attempts on goal, and that the away side has failed to score in seven...

Leeds v Everton, Tuesday 19:45, Sky Sports 2 Although both these sides recorded league victories in their respective divisions at the weekend, the nature of their triumphs bore stark contrast. While an animated Neil Warnock bit his fingernails at Elland Road as Nottingham Forest pressed hard for the equaliser, David Moyes' Everton side had calmly stroked it around as the clock wound down in their game a few hours earlier safe in the knowledge that all three points were in the basket before the half-time whistle. Everton's emphatic win in Wales has thrust the Merseysiders into a lofty third position in the Premier League, whereas the Yorkshire club's third win sees them lying 12th in the Championship after garnering ten points from seven games. Apart from a blip at the...

Everton v Manchester United, Monday 20:00, Sky Sports 1. Match Odds: Everton 4.5, Manchester United 1.93, The Draw 3.75. Rarely have Manchester United made such a landmark signing as Robin van Persie, yet rarely have there been so many question marks about how Sir Alex Ferguson will incorporate a new signing. With Shinji Kagawa also arriving and stating his intention to play behind the man striker, in the role played by Wayne Rooney last season, the main tactical interest from this match will be the positioning of Manchester United's attackers. Van Persie starting United's opening game would be something of a surprise, considering he's only had a couple of days training with his new teammates. Ferguson might take the opportunity to save Wayne Rooney for future matches,...

Match Odds Despite not winning at White Hart Lane between 1985 and 2006, Everton have a superb recent record against Tottenham, Opta stats reveal. They have lost just once in the last eight league matches between the two and just once in their last five trips to White Hart Lane. Everton won three of the other four in north London by the way. Damning stats that make you instantly come to the conclusion that the Toffees are great value at 7.2 to win the match. The problem with historical stats is just that, they don't necessary reflect the here and now. Spurs are a far better team this year than at any stage of that five-year study and Everton are perhaps at their lowest point. If it's not financial problems meaning they have to sell their best players (Mikel Arteta, Yakubu) ...

Tottenham v West Brom, KO 1945 Tottenham will go into this game ruing the two points they dropped at the weekend in Swansea and anxious to get back to winning ways. They could hardly have picked better opponents, Opta tells us that during the last seven meetings between the two sides Spurs have won five and drawn two against the Baggies at White Hart Lane. Opta also point out that West Brom have only kept one clean sheet in their last 28 Premier League away games and they come into this game just 48 hours after suffering a cruel late home defeat at the hands of Everton. Roy Hodgson may have to do without the services of injured skipper Chris Brunt whilst Scot Parker is a doub for the home team, having limped off with 20 minutes to go against Swansea. You don't need to be Sherlock...

Liverpool and Chelsea are two of the most successful clubs in Carling Cup history, but Michael Lintorn isn't convinced that either will be in the quarter-final draw this year. Stoke v Liverpool (19:45) Tony Pulis' side have tasted defeat just once in 21 games in 2011, and that was when they had little to play for at home to Wigan on the final day of last season. Factor into the equation their cup prowess - Manchester City are the only team in 18 matches over the last 19 months to have seen them off in 90 minutes, and they have won six of their first seven in the Europa League - and Liverpool's 2.22 favourite status appears rather bewildering. The Reds have been to the Britannia Stadium four times since Stoke's promotion without success, heading home empty-handed...

Chelsea v Everton, Saturday 17:30, Live on ESPN Everton's record against Chelsea over the past two seasons - played six, won two and drawn four - is sensational considering the difference in stature of the two clubs, and is testament to David Moyes' tactical ability that he continues to cause big sides problems. That said, it's arguable that this season he has his weakest squad for years, and Everton also had a good record against Manchester City, but were unable to preserve that unbeaten run. The most interesting tactical feature of that game was Moyes' decision to man-mark David Silva with Jack Rodwell, which largely stopped the threat of Silva, but did create space for others to exploit. With Chelsea possessing a similarly creative, pivotal player in Juan Mata, will Moyes...

Aston Villa v Newcastle Both clubs have made an unbeaten start to the season and Newcastle currently occupy fourth spot with Villa sitting two points behind in eighth. However, whilst the Magpies have recorded two wins, Villa have drawn three of their four games. Opta stats show that Alex McLeish's side have suffered just one league defeat at home in the last ten, winning five and drawing four. Over that period, they have failed to score just twice and seen only seven goals put past them. Newcastle have averaged a point per game in their last ten on the road, finding the net six times whilst conceding 11. Yet, Alan Pardew's team have given up just one strike so far this season and a solid defence has been their foundation. Villa have won five of the last six fixtures at...

Arsenal v Swansea Two weeks is a long time in football when the last result your club recorded was an 8-2 thrashing by a team you were hoping to match, but for Arsenal the day has come to put that nightmare firmly behind them. A home game against 1.66 relegation favourites Swansea - who have yet to score a Premier League goal in 270 minutes of football - is a perfect opportunity for Arsene Wenger and his team to kick start their season, and the Gunners should be backed to win in a canter. With four deadline day signings (Park Chu-Young, Andre Santos, Per Mertesaker and Mikel Arteta) added to their ranks Wenger appears to have plugged some of the gaps left by their high-profile summer departures, so expect a steady climb up the table in the coming weeks. Swansea look destined...

Exeter 10.0 v Liverpool 1.4; The Draw 5.2 With no European football to speak of at Anfield this season Liverpool enter the Carling Cup at the second round stage for the first time in over a decade. Although Jamie Carragher describing the game against Exeter as 'massive' may be a little over the top, with a big squad at his disposal Kenny Dalglish will be keen to do well in domestic cup competitions this season. Expect the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Jay Spearing, Raul Meireles and Martin Kelly all to feature in a changed but strong Liverpool side at St James' Park. Unfortunately for those who enjoy an old-fashioned giant killing, with just one point from their opening four league matches Exeter aren't in a position to cause an upset against a Liverpool side containing...
