yes, if Atlantic Jewel's blood count was as high as Its A Dundeel she would still be unbeaten.

If she was 100% she would still be unbeaten.

She met many horses that are just leading into fitness for the big Cups.

She will get beat everytime now on on low 97% fitness for Group 1 races coming up.

Many Group 1 races have bottom fitness of 98% and several peak on 100%, she needs to lift her act.

Black Caviar, Sunline, Lonhro, Saintly, Take Over Target and other great horses, their average fitness during their entire racing
period would of been 98% plus.

I have over 1,000 blood counts in my brain, I have thousands of fitness levels in my brain, thousands of strength factors and hypetrophic levels remembered and I multiplied out in 2-3 seconds to come up with my fitness ratings.

Thats life.

I am not human, I am ninja!

When: 23 Sep 13 14:18
Hay List on 95% raced on the pace and I really didn't like the way he went from about 4th to last over the concluding stages.

Not super fit yet, great horse with plenty of strength factors, jury out for me whether he can
recapture past brilliance, in saying that will improve in fitness.

Been live online for 3 months now with hundreds and hundreds of winners around the world (twiter)

Did 3 marathon sittings average of about 13 hours straight, rating over 4,000 runners, all codes, all countries with a finished strike rate
of about 225 tips (1-2 selections), 85% of first tip placed (191) and about 92% of either of first two tips placed (207)
with on many races running in the exactor or 1-2-3.

No form guides just fitness before they jump.

Also said unfit favourites, races to stay out of as even low fitness levels of runners and were all blow outs.

Havn't been online for few weeks now and honestly I have nothing else to prove after 50 years.

All I wanted to show was that fitness, which is not in the form guides, represents about 75% of why
horses win.

What % do you think fitness plays in your chances of showing a profit on the punt?

I am not human, I am ninja

As I said, am coming to the end of all this and have nothing else to prove, would just like punters to
try and understand that fitness is a key factor in winning.

cheers jim ...

you have always presented yourself as a cheeful eccentric character who has absorbed everything said in relation to your work without once blowing your stack or attacking anybody for their own beliefs or operations

now ... do you believe there is a difference (in my mind for example) between aerobic fitness and muscular strength fitness

i am understanding you were initially talking about 'muscular strength' in your observations (ie the the depth of muscle tissue at certain parts of a horse's rear anatomy)

more recently though you have introduced the movement of oxygen through a horse's circulatory sytem in the form of red blood cell counts ... a discussion that has been met with some sceptisism it seems as this is usually (from a trainer's point of view) obtained from a laboratory report

the first part of your treatise (muscle strength & definition) can be readily comprehended if not practiced by the lay punter

the second part (blood count) could do with some more explanation if possible for the lay punter to absorb your actual meaning definition

all the best for sharing your thoughts

Aerobic Fitness. Its Meaning and Significance

"Aerobic fitness" refers to endurance, or the ability to sustain work for prolonged periods. This is usually experienced in the abilities to walk, run, climb uphill, swim, etc. Most forms of sports, work, recreational and military activities include elements of aerobic fitness. Generally speaking, any activity which lasts less than 12 minutes is not fully aerobic. The term "aerobic" implies that the oxygen necessary to accomplish the work is taken up by the individual during the activity.

Strenuous exercise lasting less than 12 minutes includes substantial portions of anaerobic metabolism whereby one uses energy sources stored in the body to perform the work. Since the body's energy sources are limited, anaerobic work cannot last long. Fast runs, lasting 10 to 15 seconds, are mostly accomplished by anaerobic metabolism. With longer exercise time, more aerobic metabolism is involved, and exercise lasting more than 12 minutes is mostly accomplished by aerobic metabolism. Work is performed by the muscles which use oxygen for the combustion of fat and carbohydrates creating the energy necessary to move the body, or to move objects outside the body.

In aerobic work, oxygen is obtained from the air and is transferred from the lungs to the blood and then to the muscles via the circulatory system. Maximal oxygen uptake, or maximal aerobic power ( Vo2 max ) is the indicator of aerobic fitness. Vo2 max is determined by the measurement of oxygen uptake during the performance of maximal work, typically while running on a treadmill or while cycling. This is done by exercising for at least 12-minutes at submaximal loads, after which the maximal effort is performed for one or two minutes. Oxygen uptake during this time is measured, giving the value of Vo2 max. As Vo2 max increases, the level of aerobic fitness also increases

The main reason for this is that aerobic fitness is directly related to fat-free body weight, which consists mainly of the weight of muscles in the body, and on the average, males have a higher muscle mass than females. As with other physiological functions, there are large individual differences in Vo2 max of people of the same sex and age.

Muscular strength fitness comes from body tissue mass turned into increased muscular strength and then in a higher level called hypertrophic fitness levels.

Add Aerobic fitness to muscular strength fitness and your horse will finish full of running over the concluding 300 metres of a race.

My ratings for blood count levels which is about 1,000 different ratings as part of the overall 100% fitness rating in a horse is not available at this stage.

I do not punt, but I think I will take it up as others want to join in and despite my poor levels of emotional controls if I am wrong,
it is another hurdle I want to conquer, hence just about finished tipping on twiter.

Think of a horses fitness levels as how they record music with the levels of base, treble etc to get the right sound, it is the same with a horse, it has to have elevavated blood, strength, fitness and hypertrophic levels balanced or it will lose.

So a horse with 70% blood, 100% fitness, 85% strength and 80% hyper, would more than like race on the pace and fall in a hole.

A horse 100% in all four levels of fitness will wins untouched, and that is what you see at times, especially in the trots where the winner cruises to the line under a hold and others are 10 metres back under the whip.

There are fitter horses in the trots than the horses and dogs.

Get a super fit trotter off the 1-2-3 barrier and very hard to beat, get a super fit dog out of box 1 and good beginner, very hard to beat, get a top weighted horse 100% fit and very hard to beat.

Remember in the horses, the handicapper is pretty much on the ball, you just have to find out which ways he likes up in weights is fit because they are the better quality type horses.

I started with my ratings in fair, good, medium etc, then went to A,B,C,D, then went to A+, A-, B+, then went to percentages.

After 9 years fitness research I threw it all in the bin and started again.

My hardest task was identifying the difference between body fat and strength factors, that took me from 1987 - 2010

I've done the maths Jim.......and I put it to you that......

Given that 1 Banana = 1 Length

and       2 Bananas = 2 Lengths

Then      4 Bananas = 4 Lengths

Then a horse with 70% blood, 100% fitness, 85% strength and 80% hyper, and 4 bananas ......would more than likely race on the pace and beat......

A horse 100% in all four levels of fitness and no bananas..

IMO.

Checking my banana spread sheet it all depends on whom the rider is, either George Gorilla or M.I.Monkey.

George is a big bloke so he needs 3 bananas and that improves his blood count, where as minuture M.I. Monkey
and any more than 1 banana and he slipps off the saddle all the time.

Trainer Tarzan prevers to use George because of his added strength factors in tight finishes, meanwhile Jane
likes the cuddles from M.I.Monkey.

The money today fellas is in Canterbury as nice looking meeting as compare to tuff stuff at Sale.

Good luck....Ninja Jim

Distance approx. 2000m or a bit less than that is short of its best trip but is a class above those horses likely to be long odds on, so he's hardly going out on a limb tipping Brown Panther. What about the setback due to a  high temperature it had jim missing the irish St leger its last scheduled lead up prior to the Melbourne Cup or were you unaware of that???

Courtesty of tvn site.

UK stayer Brown Panther remains on course for a Melbourne Cup bid after his fading fifth in the Foundation Stakes (2000 m) at Goodwood earlier today.

Brown Panther, having his first start since his win in the Goodwood Cup, led clearly for most of the race, but his rivals rounded him up inside the 400 metres.

He finished fifth behind short priced favourite Grandeur, beaten four and three-quarter lengths, but the defeat didn’t appear to phase trainer Tom Dascombe or owner, soccer great Michael Owen.

Brown Panther was scratched from the Irish St Leger earlier in the month when his temperature spiked.

"I'm pleased enough with him," Dascombe told the Sporting Life.

"Grandeur's a good horse in his own right and we had to give him 5lb (sic 2.5kg). In hindsight, we probably went a bit too quick up front and he didn't quite get home.

"We were trying to win obviously but it was more about making sure he was alright. (Jockey) Richard (Kingscote) wasn't too hard on him and I'm sure he'll be fine and go to Melbourne.

"He hasn't had a run for six weeks and we really needed to get a run into him before he heads into quarantine. As long as he's fine after this, he'll head to Australia."

Owen said he was encouraged by the performance, especially given it was over an unsuitable distance.

He said it was imperative that Brown Panther had another start before he entered quarantine.

"As much as you always want to win he's run a good race, giving weight all around over an inadequate trip, so you've got to be pleased,” Owen said.

"He needs a lot further than that to be shown at his best, but he's run a decent race and hopefully will come out sound and we can go to Melbourne. If he runs, I'll be there."

He looks a pretty smart big strong horse, interesting to see how he progress towards the Melbourne Cup, I had him on 98% via a video this and obviously will benefit from the run, will watch how he goes.

Damn, Damn, Damn, went back for a little session on dogs last night after tea and as you know you have not got all that much time to bet and I forgot to press the flexi button on my trifecta and cost me all my winnings this week.

Exciting race though got the winner, missed 2nd and got 3rd, paid $555 trifecta and would of had about $5k worth if I only put the 3 in for second.....that's life.

Distance plunge training:

I pulled off many plunges with my greyhounds back in the 70's and there were set rules if you wanted to back your dog for a stack over the distance.

First he had to be reasonably fit for his first trial over the distance and this will give you a good indication of their staying ability.

Generally their first trial will only marginally be below their best times later on.

If you went for a plunge after your first impressive trial, you lost and had no hope of collecting.

Trials 2-3-4-5 are run at slower times but are needed to get the dog used to running over the distance and establishing his energy and oxygen levels to stay.

Trial 6 you will find you are a shade faster then their first trial, now your dog is ready for a plunge in a race that it can win.
