5 week campaign......must be worse news on the way for Gillard/Labor or they believe Gillard isn't that good that she might stuff up worse than she already has. Bad 3 weeks. Previously, lefties were running round saying Tony will trip himself up and a longer campaign gives him more opportunity to trap himself.Short rushed campaign I think something is up I'm supporting the Libs.

I'm interested by the fact the first Labor advert
"TOGETHER LETS MOVE FORWARD" mentions nothing of "Labor" or features the red "AUSTRALIAN LABOR" logos. Its simple the slogan "TOGETHER LETS MOVE FORWARD" in blue and white writing. Sounds like they're avoiding the brand like the plague. P.S - The slogan is getting overkill. Sounding absolutely ridiculous. |

You might be able to help me with this one. My Group certificate. Ok i left my Job and got paid a large sum of Longe Service leave and was taxed pretty high. Is this Large sum part of my Salary for the year? When i do tak return do i state how much is from Long Service? They took about 40% as Tax. Is that correct? Should i do myself online or see a Tax man? |

G'day Lloydy, all the numbers will be on your payment summary, download etax and slot the numbers in and see what it comes up with - you don't have to lodge it until you're ready to if at all. If the number is too ugly, or not pretty enough, go and see an accountant and see if they can find some deductions you missed.

One thing I will say: Environment dept, finding major health effects with the coal-seam gas projects in Qld.It's been proven cancer agents are polluting the groundwater and arterial basin. |

If by some miracle , for the good of the country....the Libs had agreed to the Tax on SUPER PROFITS then the greedy Miners would have been forced to take their medicine without any further negotiation, just like the rest of the Country/Taxpayers when new taxes are announced.

The strength of any nation is in the amount of power and money in the hands of its average joe and julia. In our "successful" capitalist australia we are actually a house of cards, just one single month without money or a job and the majority of our people would be living on the street ...our system would collapse.

Thanks for backing my case up LTU.Indeed you are 100% correct, a month without income would blow most working families away.This has been achieved through australias march towards socialism.Workers are given just enough to make ends meet and a tad more to create the illusion that they are "moving forward".The govt takes the rest.
We will pass china on the way down as they pass us on the way up.China in 35 years has been able to convert approx 470 million ppl to "middle class".Approx 120 mill of theses are regarded as "rich".Almost all of these has zip when they communist released the brakes.There is ZERO WELFARE in china.There are no govt handouts of any kind.You cannot own land or property in china as a foreigner.You cannot become a citizen of china.There are no boat people.There are no foreign workers.Tax rates are between low and non existant.Free enterprise and success is encouraged by the govt and its policies.There are no red light cameras,no tolls, very little in the way of speeding fines, no stamp duty, very little in the way of govt charges. Does that sound like the australian economy? And womble- what exaclty is a "working class"? Is it those people with jobs?Then I guess is your getting 120k in a job your working class? Or does it mean poor? Because if it means poor then thhe worlds fastest growing economy has rejected that idealogy.But the comrades of australia still hold those failed ideas close to their hearts.So as we as a country embrace that thinking thru the next gilliard govt we are headed into a failure and the end of the australian way of life.the economy will be flattened out and deviation from the "group" discouraged.We will all be the same, feeding a relentless govt sector with the hours of working aussies.Aussies who will have to work untill they drop to prop up the socialist machine. The Howard era , and being continued on by Labour has put Gov't debt onto Households under the illusion of paper wealth and equity in their mortgages.Tolls on roads is a great example.The households of the country pay taxes ( at high rates) yet we have to pay again for road usage.Furthermore, just recently, Macquire the millionaires factory have bought the company that runs the Traffic/speeding cameras for the Gov't of NSW. The minute this economic bastardry is challenged , most are written off as Looneys.The User pays idealology of Gov't is becoming more and more prevalent, and yet goes unchallenged because of well advertised and conspicuous 'divide and conquer'strategies employed to stifle debate.Recently in Qld, a few new bridges have been built , all tolled , except one.A 3 km bribge linking Sandgate to Redcliffe in Brisbane's North was completed and no toll, as it should be.Yet , a bridge crosssing the Bris River recently built , has been tolled.User-pay governing is well and truly entrenched , then just to see Halls in schools which should cost approx $150,000, are getting charged out at 4/5 times as much.Someone has got very rich out of this ,but I am yet to hear who "got the choclates".Great policy program, but just another avenue for the winners of the gov't contracts |

That said, I have found through experience, that the Labour Governments are rather more freer/casual/liberal with the wealth of the nations assets, which inevitably, means greater taxes ... aghhhhhhhhh... gotta laugh at the whole lot really, otherwise upset mind over the inevitable the only result...It's all a game... As a couple of you have said with our GST, road tolls and personal tax we don't seem to be getting much value for money, but someone has to pay for the infrastucture, schools, roads, hospitals etc. I don't pretend to know the answer, but both the major parties pander to the wealthy and powerful. Anyone who thinks Gillard is a socialist or Abbott is for "working families" needs a big reality check. Both of them are a huge disappointment. I suppose it boils down to that old adage "we get the government we deserve". |

correct Koala, that's why i don't vote for them.... but 14 million or so other people do for some unknown reason. ps: they don't even bother building roads or tunnels or bridges anymore.... i know because apparently i built about 10 kilometers of the connecteast freeway personally and did it out of the kindness of my own bank account.... very happy to never expect a return. tks libs and labs !!!
