P.S - Wombleoz, wake up to yourself. [;)]
I read your spin a few days ago about the debate request from Gillard. Nice try sunshine. You know damn well it was a Hawker Britton authorised stunt to try and pump some oxygen into the Labor campaign that is currently running on empty. Desperate stuff from Labor. |
|
By:
Another thing. The last ditch gambles are starting to rolled out by Labor. Massive gamble in the resurrection of Rudd.
Whilst his method of disposal may be poor thought of in the minds of Australian's - the public is very much aware and mindful of his record as PM - thus his incredible fall from grace. Who the hell is in charge of this government? Kevin or Julia? If his the "messiah", why the hell was he dumped in swift, brutal Sussex Street fashion? It's comical, messy and more like sideshow alley than a government pitching for re-election. The dice have been rolled.......time will tell. |

Welcome back Mark.
![]() Mark Latham is back on the scene, stiring up the pot. Labor's campaign is comical. It's falling apart. Gillard must be livid, things are not going well at all. Did you see the 60 second piece of footage of Gillard meeting up with Rudd in Queensland today? He seemed to be shaking with anger, couldn't bring himself to look at her in the eyes. LMAO. What a unified team they are......... ![]() Time to change the government. |
|
By:
You are alive Jez - good to see you're having fun
2 weeks to go, I'm confident but think Abbott is doing the right thing keeping pretty quiet and letting Labor take all the negative headlines - it'll change though, especially if the polls stay close, the focus on Abbott is about to increase and I think he'll buckle Vote 1 Australian sex Party ![]() |
|
By:
ROFL Wombleoz.
It'll change will it? Mate, you were saying that in week 1, 2 and 3. Abbott is on message and confident. He copped a hammering in week 1 and survived. Gillard got struck in week two and hasn't returned. There will be no fraying or fumbles from Abbott - despite your hopes and prayers. Labor have some incredibly serious divisive issues overtaking its campaign - it looks messy. The incumbents appear to be in disarray. The electorate is tuning out to Labor and listening to Tony Abbott as alternate PM..... Has been the case for a few weeks now. It's crunch time. Gillard is chronically struggling for air. Its a case of Labor destroying Labor. All the in-fighting and bickering. It seems to be a self-destruction job. Can't wait for tomorrow's Coalition campaign launch in Brisbane. |
|
By:
The news' tonight.
Same story. Shocking images of Rudd and Gillard beamed across the nation, Bruce Hawker would of gone off his head when he saw the images from the evening news bulletins tonight. Looked poor, awkward and truly divisive. Made a bad situation, worse. To top off the day, Mark Latham confronts Gillard in Brisbane and has a crack at her about an alleged complaint involving him from ALP HQ. Meanwhile, Abbott is busy having discussions with Nauru in relation to asylum seekers and taking real action on border security and his comment tonight is "not interested in the theatrics of Labor, more interested in good government". ![]() |

The one factor that can't be denied is that someone is running around saying "my Gov't" (Julia) and it's a dogs breakfast because everyone knows Rudd is/was the man, and she'e been in the job 5 secs. She probably wins if election in October

Labor 52-48 in Newspoll - Julia does a great job on Q and A - it's all coming together. In the mean time Abbott can't even agree with Hockey about how much savings they have lol

After watching Julia Gillard on Q and A last night.... I have to agree with one of the twitterers "At last we have a leader". Up until now I had been undecided but after seeing her in action and because of the following I will be voting ALP.
On his recent lecture tour, the Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz said Australia's economy was the envy of developed countries. He also said our national debt was so low in comparison to the rest of the world that he could not understand what we were worried about. To listen to Tony Abbott's action plan you would think Australia had high uemployment, crippling government debt and hordes of asylum seekers breaching our borders - when the opposite is true. Just how gullible does Tony Abbott think the electorate is? Big mistake at the Liberal launch was wheeling out John Howard. His presence would have sent a chill down the spine of many voters as they recalled his industrial relations policies. I can't believe they did this. This much despised Prime Minister was ousted by his own electorate. The Liberal launch has given the ALP a huge kick on. |

One of the biggest "tell's" is how negative Labour's ads are becoming.Sure sign of weakness when fear campaign is running.Koala, compare Aust's economy to China, Singapore etc as opposed to the "old european world" and the picture isn't so rosy.Furthermore, if their wasn't unneccessary debt, could be spent in such more worthwhile endeavours ,health, water, renewable energy ,mental health etc etc etc.
On a side note, Swan was nearly caught out in admitting not releasing land for housing is what is keeping house prices from crashing, as MrBen and others have commented, the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on Australians. The price will be paid. Finally, High school economics teaches that booms/recessions are cyclical.Former British PM Gordon Brown went down this path that you can continue to have growth and look where it got them. Why no one has challenged this basic tenant of economics is beyond me.When recession does come, it will hit twice as hard.Instead of taking our medicine for a year or two, we are well and truly gonna cop it in the next few years |

Listen to Wombleoz will ya, he rejects all the polls where the Coalition leads, but when Labor nudge ahead, its gospel. ROFL. You can't even be slightly objective. Its fanciful junk you type into this place sometimes, seriously. And apparently, a Q&A session on the ABC with fellow comrade Tony Jones and lets face it, pretty low calibre soft questions - and the Labor cheer squad comes out and proclaims, its over. LOL. Things aren't so rosy at ALP HQ, let me tell you. I'm objective enough to realise it will be tough to win and beat a first term government, but the polling coming out from NSW and QLD continues to improve for the Coalition. And Womblez - turn it up will ya - why come out and echo the bumbling Treasuer Swan on the "alleged" black hole in the Coalition's costings. Honestly, we hear the same junk every election, from both sides. Means didly squat, and if you have any grey matter, you would know that. (N.B - Its worth noting, when Kevin Rudd got a free ride from the media during the 2007 election and subsequently won, Mr Rudd and Mr Swan submitted Labor's costings 3 hour before polling day - naturally, ALP supporters have short memories - like the former PM Rudd, it is a distant memory.) Labor's first term record is damning. Not to mention a drawn and quartered PM, in his first term. I could go through it, but you lot know the details. ![]() The debt, the WASTE, the talk, the inaction, the reviews....I mean, if it was all so good, why did they dump a first term PM and run to an election? ROFL. |

"To listen to Tony Abbott's action plan you would think Australia had high uemployment, crippling government debt and hordes of asylum seekers breaching our borders - when the opposite is true. Just how gullible does Tony Abbott think the electorate is?...."
Geez Koala, I'd hate to hear your definition of a bad government. You must have one awesome pair of rose-coloured glasses. Oh and how much do ALP HQ pay you for trotting out this rot? ![]() Soft border control (Labor watered down the laws and boats are coming thick and fast , FACT), chronic waste (billions blown without accountability, FACT), debt debt and more debt, FACT. If you look at the past few weeks you realise that even senior members of government dont believe they deserve re-election. If this government is of such quality, why did they dump the first-term astronomically popular PM? Mmmmm ![]() "Big mistake at the Liberal launch was wheeling out John Howard. His presence would have sent a chill down the spine of many voters as they recalled his industrial relations policies. I can't believe they did this. This much despised Prime Minister was ousted by his own electorate. The Liberal launch has given the ALP a huge kick on. " Thats right Koala. Despised. Thats why he governed for 11 and a half years. [smiley:crazy] Of course you hated him and I'm sure it was a long 11 and half years for you. Wow, imagine if Abbott wins, I know in your mind its an impossibility, but I'd safely say, it would destroy you. ![]() Your own party's (ALP) polling released 2 years ago showed voter did not hate Howard and in fact believed he had run a solid government, but it was just......time. Workchoices did not help, of course. Keating lost an election, Hawkie got turfed, Rudd got smacked out in his first term, and guess what - they'll all be at the Labor launch on the weekend. But I suppose that's different hey? For goodness sakes. ![]() |
|
By:
.....oh and no, Workchoces is not coming back.
As Abbott says, its dead, buried and cremated. Can't say much more to finalise that matter. I mean, surely Labor are flogging a dead horse here - it reeks of a chronic desperation - thats what I'm hearing on the ground. Workchoices died when the Coalition lost in 2007. |

For your edification. Howard was so well liked when ousted, that he lost his own seat. FACT I do not work for the ALP. They have not received my vote for twenty years. FACT I am genuinely impressed with Gillard. FACT (If I am wrong about her, it won't be the first time I have misjudged someone). If Abbott wins I won't be bothered. FACT After reading some of your previous posts, it appears that you have a considerable amount of emotional capital invested in the outcome of this election. I hope you don't react too badly should the Libs lose. It really isn't worth it. Happy Punting |

By:
Fair point Judge but Howard took the GST to an election don't forget.
If there were changes to industrial relations it would be taken to the next election. Tony Abbott believes in a fair go for families, stopping Labor's waste - billions apon billions, repaying Labor's chronic debt, putting a stop to Labor's addiction to taxation and stopping the boats. A clear plan of action to start. And it will be action... not all talk, reviews and backflips. Bit hypocriticial Wombleoz. How much do we really know about our 7 week Prime Minister, Julia Gillard? If this government of yours was so great, substantial and of quality why was Mr Rudd dumped 7 weeks ago in a kneejerk poll-based Sussex style exectution. With 3 woeful bandaid solutions - mining tax, the boats (timor) and climate change 20/20 style summit - not to mention her role in the BILLIONS squandered in the BER scheme, how can we trust Julia Gillard. Moving forward she squarks. To what exactly Julia? She say's its now the REAL Julia. But nothing has changed. It's the same Julia and the same old Labor. The same Labor Party that has senior members amongst it's government that DO NOT believe it deserves re-election. How can we trust Julia Gillard when clearly Mr Rudd couldn't? Who will be Prime Minister if the poll numbers start to dip for Julia? and....before you start casting stones about the pragmatism of Tony Abbott all politicians need Wombleoz, wouldn't it be fair to say Julia Gillard has had an about face on MULTIPLE topics. From Socialist Alliance to Asylum Seeker hard-woman, economic conservative (only during the election) and a soft-touch on climate change - with a poxy community panel of 150 to decide our approach - LMAO. Fair dinkum. Wake up to yourself. |

By:
lol Wombleoz says people are seeing how bad the Libs are?
You actually taken the time to look at the Rudd-Gillard Government "achievements" over the past 3 years? ROFL. Not exactly a pretty picture from a first term government - and don't forget the rotting political corpse of former PM Rudd. But hey you did say sorry to the indigenous and sign Kyoto. LMAO. Good stuff. A symbolical government which delivers sweet F.A ....before you start ranting on about how Labor saved us from the sky falling in.....Julia Gillard has acknowledged that the Howard Government's economic management was the main contributor to Australia withstanding the GFC. Happy campaigning all. ![]() |

By:
5.1% unemployment Jez - the only figure that really matters
Labor had some shockers on the way through but they saved us from recession, if we were there the wasted billions would pale into insignificance. Julia has moved to far to the right for mine and I hope she comes back a bit but unfortunately Australia wants to elect a centre right party and at the moment that's Labor - the won't vote for a hard right nutter like Abbott (i.e. the real Tony Abbott) Luckily the Greens will win the balance of power in the senate which will help bring the country back to the centre left where it should be Vote 1 Australian Sex Party ![]() |

Tony Abbott is far more qualified in terms of education when it comes to the economy (he actually has an economics degree) compared to Julia Gillard, Wayne Swan, and all the other baffoons.
The Liberal team wins hands down in terms of qualification when it comes to economics. FACT. Learn the facts, please! |

Besides that, Labor are the current government, the government that has wasted billions on dodgy insulation and school hall rip-offs.
They don't deserve a second chance to waste and squander anymore taxpayer dollars. Saved us from recession? LMAO. We were better placed courtesy of John Howard and Peter Costello. Splashing around wasteful billions is easy - thorough economic management is not. Same OLD Julia. Same OLD Labor. Fair dinkum, I see the government is going bananas today about a leak from treasury showing a blackhole in Coalition costings. Where the F*** are the AFP? This is an absolute disgrace. Leaking is acceptable if it favours the ALP, huh? The Treasurer has some serious questions to answer on this. Its also worthy to note again, that in the last election, Labor delivered their costings to Treasury at 9pm on the night before polling day. |

I should have tipped you would be an extreme left-winger Wombleoz.
Supporting the Greens. How's this for policy; *Abolishing the Defence Force. *Introducing wealth/inheritance taxes. *Introduce death taxes. *Banning recreational fishing. *Forget drug laws - it'll be a free for all. *Massive great carbon tax which will kill; jobs, families and the economy. Fair dinkum. And thats just a small sample. These people and this mob are extreme people with extreme views. If people think they are just koala cuddlers, they are being seriously misled. Besides that, you vote Green and they don't get up your vote goes directly to the ALP. |

Out of the great think tank policy of the ALP: lEGISLATING TO BAN KIDS FROM PLAYING WEEKEND SPORT IF THEY DON'T GO TO SCHOOL.
Who the fk is going to monitor that.Sport is the only thing keeping half the kids from ending up on social outcasts.FK me. Get ready Wayne Swan: Commonwealth Bank set to raise rates no matter what the Reserve says.If the Gov't wasn't in their borrowing 100 million a day, sme's might be a chance |
|
By:
@Aussie Punter - that policy is primarily designed at Indigenous communities and country areas where the truancy rate is quite high.
100M a day. Oh NO! Too bad the deficit is equivalent of $9000 a household (not a person), that's barely a mortgage loan. ------- @Jez *Greens policy on Defence is that military action should be taken as a last resort. *The Wealth/Death tax is meant to be an estate tax which was common in the 20th century and in many other countries. I don't agree with it. However not much is not about this policy. *Banning recreational fishing - there is nothing in their Marine policy that supports your theory that they want to ban recreational fishing. They want to conserve certain spices until there is a big enough population of them. Once they reach their limit, they will then be open to fishing. *Drug laws - The Greens do not support the legalisation of illegal drugs they support a harm minimisation approach to drugs. Which is supported by many health groups. So it is a research based policy designed to better the community and get people off drugs. *Carbon tax - if you did research into it and looked at the facts is likely to cost jobs in the coal powered energy, but it will also encourage jobs to grow in the green energy sector. Taxing electricity and water is something I agree with, because I believe this will encourage households to be economical in the way they use natural resources. I will disclose to you now that I am voting for the Greens on August 21, but this is because I agree with *most* of their policies. I believe the media and other politicians should be scrutinising the Greens because I believe this will encourage the Greens to refine some of their policies that I do believe are impractical. I also support *most* of their policies because they are researched and therefore have transparency. I'm all for criticising policies, but I think when you are going to debate issues it is best to get all the facts right and do the research and not just rely on opinion columns or your friends to tell you who to vote for. |
|
By:
@Jez best way to do research is to look at primary sources. You can do this by visiting the Greens website greens.org.au. That's if you want to bother.
Also a vote to the Greens does not equal a vote for Labor. People can vote in any preference that they want. |
|
By:
getluv1, is there any party that says military action shouldn't be the last resort?
|
|
By:
That was just a small sample getluv..........
You can water them down and open it up for loose interpretation, but the black and white is quite stark and very extreme. C'mon, theres a lot of other nasties on their website as well - that they hold dear, as policy. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, I welcome all opinions and love a debate, discussion, (and funnily enough) an open forum on politics - its a damn sight better than being disinterested in our wonderful democracy and the country's future. Opinions pieces are exactly that, opinion, like a friend's word of mouth, its the sharing of a personal viewpoint. I love reading opinion from all sources, left, right and centre - but I agree, nutting out your own values, beliefs and doing some research is best. Propaganda/Spin is everywhere - then again, thats politics. [;)] I respect your faith in the Greens, just as I believe strongly in the Liberal Party and its values (as they are ones I personally hold dear), beliefs and policy agenda..... We can see the rot eating away at NSW from the Labor Party, now those same men are controlling the Federal Labor Party and our great country, We have a government that refuses accountability, a government that is deeply divided and leaking, a government that thinks nothing of wasting billions under the guise of saving us from the GFC (an utter nonsense), a government that proclaims excellence yet dumps its first term PM, a government that prides itself on Labor NSW spin, deceit, dishonesty and backflips and a government that has lost its way - and after 7 weeks of Julia - it ain't any different -the SAME old Labor. All the best to you getluv. Cheers. |
|
By:
@Judge - it was alleged that the Greens wanted to abolish Defence. This is not the case as I was pointing out. I assume most parties have that same agenda.
@Jez - those small samples are the ones you were trying to argue with, and the ones I was attempting to refute. I don't think I watered anything down, obviously their is a stark contrast between having a policy on something and another that is implementing it. I disagree that the Greens are extreme, a lot of their policies are researched based (environmental) or are based on fairness (ie same-sex marriage). I will call a spade a spade, so I have no hesitation in not voting for the Greens in the future or voting for any other party in the future. I base my 1 vote on policies and policies alone. Like we agree, everyone's entitled to an opinion. I have Liberal and Labor friends and I can hold my own even if I support a minor party. Having said that I won't use "Propaganda and Spin" to put my views across, politicians are not the only people who do it. I respect your faith in the Libs, I've voted for them before and in the future I may vote for them again, but not this time around. You don't have to tell me much about the Labor party for me to know what the joke they are turning into. I think the GFC presented a lot of dilemmas for Labor and I think the problems are overstated by the Coalition. Building new school halls immediately was always going to be expensive, as most constructors do put rates up if they want work straight away. Pink batts was poorly implemented I give you that. At the end of the day, who can we trust. |

Too bad the deficit is equivalent of $9000 a household (not a person), that's barely a mortgage loan. getluv: I for one believe the underpinning or benchmark policy of the Greens all parties should adopt. For our children and their children's generation it is imperative this country reforms our economy and stop becoming a quarry for China.Furthermore, the unchecked "buying up" of Oz's agricultural and pastoral land and buisnesses is abhorrent and whilst this country needs foreign Investment, let me tell you it wouldn't happen in China or America. Furthermore, how much debt per household in a year from now. Finally, this line from Gillard and Labour about this "Cole and Wollies tax" is looking a blatant lie as the CEO of Coles no less has openly disputed it |

I'd be interested on you thoughts regarding the following. What is wrong with a wealth/inheritance tax? thanks Koala |
|
By:
Good question Koala. Happy to answer.
The wealth tax and the death tax's I absolutely and unequivocally despise - they are both the enthusiastic symbols of people, such as Wombleoz and others of the extreme left - the true believers of socialism. Why the bloody hell should you have to work your entire life, save, buy investments, buy a home (all the while paying taxes)...then you retire....and at the time of your death, your last breath is to cough up another sizeable lump to taxman. Putting at risk, personal family heirlooms, savings, investments, the family home and everything.... Pop, Nana, Mum or Dad left behind for their family members/charity. Unlike the extreme Greens, I do not believe in taxing death. Period. Think of all the family business' out there, that through blood, sweat and tears were started from scratch? Under the Greens, they would be sliced up with big chunks becoming effectively, state owned. I remember reading of stories of generational farmers, back in the day, having their sons working for them on the land....not earning much, and then the old man passes away and the son is left a farm which is proceedingly carved up by the government.... There are some who couldn't handle it and ended their own lives. Extreme, but true stories from back many years ago when Australia had the death tax. Thankfully the Nationals began the abolition of this abhorrent tax and it never returned. |
|
By:
As for the wealth tax.
This is another socialism masterpiece. Distribute the wealth - don't encourage success - smack it down, condemn it. The old Labor class wars, you know, belittle those that succeed, that better themselves, that get out there and have a go. Its the Us v Them mentality. For example, if your a successful punter Koala, why don't we take the cream and share it amongst us less fortunate punters. C'mon mate, its ideological robin hood stuff. Fair dinkum. We introduce a wealth tax we're on the expressway to China. |
|
By:
You might be surprised here Jez but I agree with you a little here - I am actually a supporter of a flat tax system abolishing trusts etc to pay for it
I will be voting for the Sex Party and the Greens for their social policies rather than their economic ones which I agree need work Vote 1 Australian Sex Party ![]() |
