The Green's try and fish the environmentally sensitive folk.....with their caring & conservationist attitude to the environment..........
But they are an extreme party with extreme views. A danger to our economy and a danger to our way of life. |
|
By:
Like my niece said to me the other day the greens have tree huggers and people huggers, a bit of both is fine by me. All parties have extremists - there are some new greens coming through the system now that will make them a genuine 3rd party in the years to come

In your wildest dreams Wombleoz. Won't happen. The support for them will peak, if it hasn't already. See, the more scrutiny that is applied to the Green's the more voters will desert them.....when they realise the true consequences of extreme Green policies. |
|
By:
There's only so much room on the right though Jez and with Labor and the Liberals both trying to cram into that space it leaves a massive whole on the left and in the centre for a party to fill, the Greens will do that well PROVIDED they move on from Bob Brown and don't go to Christine Milne.

Already the greens have said they want the mining tax back to 40%.Cost kevvie 07 his job, hopefully it will trigger another election. |

hahaha yeah she has to crawl up 4 individual ar ses every single time, tony only needed 3........labor 72 v coalition 73 and she gets in what a joke....
i'm sick of all the commentary stating the people couldnt decide, a green tinge what 11%? , 5.5% donkeyed....but theres 145 seats above outta 150 that wanted one or the other...not wanting a lunatic fringe ffs....as you say mrben triple tax on everything and the greenies are at the head of the queue , worrying times ahead |

Hope everyone who particpated here is ready to rumble..........
The Victorian election is just around the corner. Plenty of political discussion to be had, as well as betting opportunities. There WILL be a swing to Coalition at this election , its just how much it will be? I believe this election is very winnable for the Coalition - the re-election of Gillard Labor will certainly push a lot of votes in the state to the Coalition. |
|
By:
no carbon tax
oh wait up yes there will be a carbon tax............ just fkn beautiful ![]() |
|
By:
Labor, the Greens, most of the Independents and 1/2 less 1 of the Liberal Party think there should be a price on carbon. So odds on there will be
As the Vic election - is it too late for the Libs to find a new leader??? They'd be a shot if they did |
|
By:
but womble your fearless leader foolya stated there will be NO CARBON TAX IN THIS TERM......
where will all this money go?? .....its a fair dinkum myth and a huge big tax based on lies propagated by scientists whom put out this carp to justify their taxpayer funded studies PERIOD i'm glad you womble are extremely well paid and dont mind tipping in more $$$ btw how much difference will this make to the world? china and india will be watching us and laughing their guts out |
|
By:
more money to to ripped away from aussie consumers.where will the $$$$ go.
omg what a surprise- to the labor government of course!!! How will it be spent- buying votes of course. |
|
By:
Im beside myself over this: What purpose is a price on carbon to achieve you may ask?
Apparently to make current energy unaffordable to produce and force buisness into renewable development.... so why do taxpayers and consumers cop it in the neck ? Time to get real and fix the rivers , soil degradation etc on the ground and simply tax pollution which can easily include coal. So, what is the Qld Gov't answer to decrease coal ****... the air quality... Let's stuff prime farming land and the water table with thousand's of wells for coal-seam gas production Great work Lads...Really got to hand it to you After exploring the idea to put a you beaut Solar package on the house , what do I find you may ask....When the house reserves put electricity/power back int the grid... I get charged for the privledge to do it.... This is the fkn problem... prepared to take the 5 grand hit and solar the house , yet the c... want to charge putting supply back into the grid... What a fkn joke |
|
By:
aussie P are you in QLD? Im in brisi and put a 5kw system in during the fed govt rebate time.Cost us 9k for a mickey mouse system but I think prices have come down since.
We get 52 cents per kilowatt back to the grid.Comes off the bill each time and have not had an issue. AGL is the provider. Re the carbon tax, its a sad sad reality that the labor govt are solely interested in revenues, not fixing problems. In reality all levels of labor could not give a tinkers cuss about anything other than political power and money. In the end we will get the country the dimwits create for us. |
|
By:
Yes MrBen in Brissy,
Will look at AGL but would like to put a cracker system in and go off the fkn grid altogether, have no air-con and big usage items but cop a fair sea breeze and pretty cool house in Summer in general. Been investigating how much solar can run a house , limits etc If it's true it is going to double in 5 years as claimed ... have found killing the power at the walls before bedtime reduces costs heaps Looking at a generator as back up |

Wombleoz - forget about a new leader.
This Labor government has been in for a long time in Victoria. Again we have the unconscious effect of Federal Labor pushing votes to the Coalition in state/territory elections. Case in point - ACT, SA and NT and the change of government in WA. There will be a swing to the Coalition,of course in the media it will be underestimated - not quite sure if it will be enough for a change of government - but it WILL be close imo. Regional areas crucial. |

Let's look at the carbon tax in a different way
Taken from here - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/ipad-application/bhp-calls-for-carbon-tax/story-fn6bn4mv-1225924995813 THE boss of Australia's biggest mining company has urged the Federal Government to introduce a carbon tax before the rest of the world. BHP Billiton chief Marius Kloppers conceded a global move on carbon would come in the future, and Australia needed to move ahead of the curve to stay competitive. "We believe that such a global initiative will eventually come, and when it does Australia will need to have acted ahead of it to maintain its competitiveness," he said yesterday at an Australian British Chamber of Commerce lunch in Sydney. He said passing the cost of a carbon tax to consumers was the only way to get results. "Carbon emissions need to have a cost impact in order to cause the consumer to change behaviour and favour low-carbon alternatives," he said. "We all recognise this is a politically charged subject. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. "But in this case there is really no easy answer. All of us who care about this issue need to also recognise that making a difference comes at a price." Mr Kloppers said the tax should be revenue neutral and go back to consumers through income tax cuts and lump-sum payments to low-income earners. He said Australia needed to move from coal as its main source of power to avoid being disadvantaged once a global price on carbon emerged. Seems like a pretty straight forward argument for mine - be it a carbon tax or redesigned ETS it's inevitable and the sooner we get it started the better |

As to Victoria
Yes, Labor has been in power a long time and has made plenty of dud decisions but with the current opposition they are pretty safe. The biggest swings will be to the Greens and Independents I agree there is a natural move to have state governments the opposite to what's in power federally - e.g. when Howard was in the states all went Labor to try and limit the damage and provide safeguards. Will be a little different this time - Victoria swung to Labor at the federal election and since Labor has been in power federally they've still won (sometimes only just) elections in ACT, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania. |

SPEECH BY JULIA GILLARD
circa mid 2011 My fellow Australians, btw i'm welsh.I come to you today as the greatest baby kisser in the history of aussie politics.Wayne has told me we are going to be short of a buck unless we get more revenue in the door. As a result we have come up with a new revenue enhancer- a carbon tax.We will make companies and businesses that emit carbon pay a tax for each emmission. We don't care about reducing emissions as that will reduce our revenues. Each emmission will have to be paid for and a package that will allow you to pollute to your hearts content can be purchased in the form of "credits" These credits can be bought and sold by who ever needs them and of course we will tax any profits. All revenues from this carbon tax will go into general revenues. Please don't be under the illusion we will spend anything on reducing emmissions, hahhahaah come on we need to get elected again.Ahh one more thing- you the everyday person will pay for every dollar of the tax in the end, the buck will stop with you.If you think you electricity bill is high now you may want to consider selling your right arm to pay for future bills.Anyway you dont really need any light or heating do you? No such issues apply to parliament house of course. Wayne further tells me treasury is running out of ideas to create new taxes, this is a worry. We must have new and more burdensome taxes. We have tabled an idea of a new tax on other emmissions, those cominging from cows, dogs, babies and men. This will be called the "fumes at rear tax" or F.A.R.T tax.My government is hoping this will be a major goer and we are working on ways to prevent men avoiding this tax.Silent but deadly {SBD's} male emmissions will become illegal. My goverment remains committed to ripping every last free dolar you have from your hand, taking food off your table and generally making you work more and have less so that wayne, me and the backroom boys can continue the party. I must leave you now as I have to meet world leaders at some crap conference,I would rather be in a kindergarten somewhere kissing babies and remaining unchallenged. Farewell your unelected , thanks kevvie 07 never won an election minority govt prime minister Julia. Your |

and who is gunna be in charge of collecting the global money ffs, wake up womble its a con job revenue neutral? do you really think the gummint will not take advntage of extra $$$ pouring in?? and why then are we opening up new coal mines? ask anna how qld would go w/out them |

Without the big polluters aboard this is laughable circus.
I'm all for less pollution and helping out the environment with genuine programs, but climate change - this is the greatest con job ever seen by mankind...... Everyday, more and more scientists across the globe, once solid in support of the climate change argument are jumping off this fraudulent bandwagon - the science is becoming more and more questionable and circumstancial. We are sometimes suckers for punishment in this country. She (Julia) unequivocally rules out a carbon tax, gets in and then changes it all - classic Labor. |
|
By:
From the bloke (wombleoz) who predicted Julia Gillard to be elected in a canter at the last election..........a shoe-in for Labor he said........Abbott unelectable, the Opposition a rabble.....dire straits for the Coalition.
Your singing the same sort of tune for Victoria, albeit in a softer voice. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wombleoz, as again, the swings to Labor in Victoria on election night were for the Federal Election. We are talking about the upcoming STATE election. A clear difference and voters know it. As for big swings to the Greens and Independents - the performance by the Greens and Independents in the spotlight nationally.......mmmmm.....not so sure. Anyway, I look forward to the polling from The Oz during the campaign. P.S - two very very experienced Victorian Government Ministers resigned today, albeit for personal reasons.....they may very well be ditching the Titanic before she sinks. |

Personally I like Tony Windsor's argument - if the scientists are wrong and we do nothing everything will be fine anyway, if the scientists are wrong and we do something - it costs us some money - if the scientists are right and we do something, maybe just maybe we can limit the damage - if the scientists are right and we do nothing we're all screwed.
I don't believe the extreme science but think the world will be a better place with less pollution - the only way to get there is to put a price on it, people won't want to pay it so it will reduce. Sooner we do something the better I'd suggest |
|

The Carbon Tax is for the markets and traders and companies that talk about offsets on the ground. You can only offset against so many fkn trees...
Action has to be on the ground and somebody has to take the "haircut" ie. taxpayers and consumers- certainly not the big end of town where possible For eg: The Murray - Darling : Their is no way around this point- the only way to increase flows is for irrigators across three states to stop taking water out. |
|
By:
The only way to change behaviours these days is to put a price on it
I notice Action Man Abbott is losing the plot - firstly doesn't want to be jet-lagged when meeting the troops, next up wants to be embedded with them - as if that would ever happen ![]() Now we find out the costings were never actually audited I've seen it suggested that the Liberals are leaking all this stuff to the media - I give Abbott 12 months tops, he held it together well during the election - credit to him for that - but he is losing the control now |

Wombleoz. Tread carefully pal.
I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone, such as yourself, following the filthy trail of Labor rot and scum, can't help yourself, and throw your blind support behind the dispicable behaviours of Ms Gillard. I didn't think you would lower yourself to such pathetic low-level politiking, Wombleoz. To use the words of the Prime Minister herself (obviously from an adviser), SHE and YOU may do yourself some great favours in familiarising yourself with the FACTS. Ms Gillard ought to be ashamed of herself, absolutely and utterly ashamed. Was a disgraceful act. Mr Abbott presented himself to her office for a rather informal discussion and he informed her of his intention to go to Afghanistan after returning from Britain - these plans, he informed her, had been set in stone for some time. He also informed her of his wish to be embedded with the forces. Didn't happen, but he spend a considerably longer period of time in the country than the Prime Minister did on her photo-shoot fly-by. Ms Gillard has then proceeded to use her natural, petulant, b*stardry and b*tchiness qualities, those that Labor treasure - to score cheap and nasty political points out of the Afghanistan conflict - by suggesting falsey that Tony Abbott has no interest in our troops in his rejection of her offer of attending simultaneously.....which by the by contravenes, Westminster convention of the Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister NOT being present in a war zone at the same time. She knew he would not be able to confirm his time for travel to the conflict zone. Politics aside, I am greatly concerned she was willing to, for the sake of a cheap political point (or 9 points from Abbotts approval rating) sacrifice the safety of the Leader of the Opposition on his recent trip by letting such a false story flow through the media. Too fkn cute by half from the Prime Minister - she should be ashamed of herself - fair dinkum, if these are her tricks.....time will strangle her and her government slowly but surely. Whilst Mr Abbott has suffered a small slip in approval, I note the two party preferred vote remains 50-50. |

Womble and his fellow comrades have proven over and over again they are only interested in theoretical ideaology, NOT real life. Womble and co dream of an idealistic labor party- you know once that fulfills what it says. They are totally blind to the realities of the ACTUAL labor party. If the comrades cannot see through this appauling minority govt and the despicable MZ Gilliard then they never will. One problem I can see is that the libs are not strong enough in return.Abbot is nowhere near as strong as he needs to be- he had the opportunity to crucify gilliard but was just too polite. Theres no "guts" to the libs, no head kickers. They are too obssesed with popularity rather than independant thinking policy. Quasi morons like womble and the comrades are easily led and labor is better than libs at doing it. Our country is already lost, we just await the axe to fall. |
