Rudd will step down - Julia has the support of her faction, the left, and has been asked to takeover by the right - i.e she has the party united behind her.

Rudd is dud, he was the right person at the right time but he isn't anymore. Labor would sneak home at 35% primary vote - Julia will make that 40ish
Well done Kevin though, got rid of Howard - did some good things especially quick decisions which kept us out of recession. Too many backflips though, too much micromanagement and the people stopping listening killed him off BUT he has maintained a base Julia can build on and win with so all is good. |

You can smirk & grin about the prospect of a strong socialist agenda coming across this country, but despite your ludicrous claims, that is NOT what Australian's want - and you'll be out of office for a generation once this short experiment ends. Julia will kill Rudd this morning and then bolt in come election time. Best thing that could have happened to the labour party. I was not going to vote labour with a fake as pm but bring on the election. Julia will be a great leader and she will have a totally different leadership style. Ministers will start making decisions again for the benefit of the country instead of everything having to be approved at his leisure by the control freak.

I don't agree with all you say about Rudd , as clearly he has the stones to take on heavyweights,and I still think the mining tax should go thru, albeit adjusted somewhat.But make no mistake , the people voted him in and should have the right to kick him if so desired. Abbott knifed Turnbull on principle and belief, and while I think some of his beliefs are questionable, it is far more standing than these treacherous labour activists. On a personal level, I was moved by Kevin Rudd's press conference following his defeat as Labor leader. I may disagree with him on some of his beliefs and his governing mistakes - but I don't think anything can prepare someone for the brutal nature of the Labor Party machine. On a neutral note, watching these sort of speeches - it is a reminder of what each and every member of parliament genuinely works towards - including Kevin Rudd as former PM - greater, more positive and prosperous outcomes for ALL Australians. Which I find appalling, but it's politically a fact. If you look back through the thread I've mentioned Julia quite a few times although I admit I thought they would wait until after the election to dump Kevin. I feel sorry for him but in the long run this is the best thing for Australia - Julia is real, Julia will tear Abbott a new one and Julia will be a great Prime Minister [:D]
