following on from canberra bookie-I am in QLD, one of my mates is a railway worker, a labour man all his life.He tells me that throughout the queensland rail workers anna bligh is on the verge of being hated. He has told me that he will not vote bligh nor will he waste his vote on greens but for the first time will vote liberal-"I just want to see anna bligh gone" he told me.
Add this to the increasing revulsion of kevin dudd and I foresee an annilhation for dudd, ie- a swing away from labour. Now add the 25% swing away from labour in nsw.Mix in west aust which will be a shelacking for rudd and you start to see the national swing could be as much as 20%. This would approach the greatest landslide in australian history. Comrades- your ideology is a proven failure worldwide, the socialist experiment in aust has failed. Its time to see the light, repent while you still can before your guilt burdens you in the face of the libs onslaught.Repent and convert to the libs.Lets bury this duddster together. ![]() |

Lads ,
Firstly Qld Labour will go , you couldn't get enough on for the reasons mentioned earlier such as .. sell off of assets , corruption etc Get real on climate change agenda: Everybody knows it was Abbott who knifed Turnbull, and is a sceptic who doesn't believe. This is fact.If their is any failing on this issue it is not backing up "the greatest moral challenge of our time" with a double dissolution and going to the electorate with it. Secondly, in a move strangely from Labour , the new welfare policy of Income managing the unemployed and single parents is something John Howard would of never dared to implement ,as much as he would of wanted to.Interesting to see the Libs response on that one.. Thirdly, the E-Health agenda of everyone to have a identifier No is being argued by the Libs as ,it's a good idea but are fearful it will open the door to further manipulation on information gathering down the track.Let's hope the Libs stand strong on this one in opposition in protecting a bit of freedom. These are some examples of what MrBen is referring to about the path to socialism .MrBen, these are the things that show far more proof than any sympathy for billionaires in the Mining Industry. I will say they need to adjust the tax.6% isn't a super profit-I can walk down to the bank and get that Cheers AP |

Me clutching at straws? Mate, you for real? I unlike you, comrade, accept at the very least, that if you play the democratic game, you CAN lose. Your in denial. You refuse to believe that the possibility of Labor being out on its ear after one term, could POSSIBLY come to fruition. Mate, ...In 2007, Australians voted for Kevin Rudd as a reasonable alternative to John Howard - the "its time" factor hit hard. They accepted the token gestures of Kyoto & the apologies. The global financial crisis came along and Kevin Rudd and Wayne Swan & Labor bowed to their big-spending instincts. Stick with the more comfortable old-fashioned redistribution and taxpayer- funded nation-building than the hard yards of economic reform. Australian's during the previous Coalition government & even under Hawke & Keating (more reformist governments) have changed. The voters now so crucial to Labor's future do not engage with the rhetoric of class warfare, implicit in the government's selling of its mining tax. They expect governments to deliver services efficiently and competently, but beyond that they want a government that gets off their backs and allows them to garner the rewards that come from risk and hard work. This man, Kevin Rudd promised them he would be their sort of leader, but they have instead watched Labor refuse to amend its spending even as unemployment drops and the waste and incompetence in programs run from Capital Hill become increasingly apparent. After two and half years, Rudd Labor have lost touch, or more to the point, the control-freak at the centre - Kevin Rudd - has lost touch. The men & women who will decide the upcoming campaign are the same people that delivered a record-breaking swing to the Liberal Party on the weekend. This man, worth millions, refuses Australian's are aspirational people - instead he invokes the this government has grasped this left-wing ideology, class warfare & economic protectionism attitude. The problem now for Kevin, is no matter his spin or his electioneering "07" hyperbole returning - the folk out there aren't listening anymore. They've heard it all before. You know how it goes....once bitten.... ... .... |

You believe you can win on a mid-30's primary vote?
Most of your strategists, strongly disagree. You want to rely on preferences based on the 2007 flow? Wombleoz. Dear oh dear matey. |
|
By:
People are smart enough to differentiate between state and federal issues and as has been said before, people seem to like a split between who is in power federally and who is in power in the states. As the states go Liberal, bound to happen eventually, people will be more likely to want Labor in power federally.
The LNP in Queensland is self destructing, Rudd and Swan are both Queenslanders - I don't see Queensland being a problem for Labor. They will most likely lose seats in WA but such is life Howard went to the last election promising an ETS, Abbott has backed away from that and as a result I wouldn't be surprised if Green preferences flow more strongly then they did at the last election. Yes, Labor can lose but I think it's unlikely. |
|
By:
Bit of desperation isn't it. Counting your Green's preferences to try and scrape across the line.
Goodness me. You say Australian's are smart enough to (mostly) seperate state & federal issues. Well I reakon they're smart enough to realise that a vote for the Green's will be a vote for Kevin Rudd - when election time rolls around.... Mark my words. Honestly, I listened to Kevin Rudd on the Nine Network on Sunday night. Asked about the ETS. He said he was not to blame for the Senate rejecting his legislation. I mean, WTF? Is he a man or a mouse? He as Prime Minister called anyone doubting climate change "insane", he called those that did not act now "cowards". Yet on such a big, massive, giant part of the Kevin Rudd persona - was dropped with a wimper. Rudd is a gutless wonder - a truly pathetic excuse for a Prime Minister. You would do well Wombleoz to remind your comrades that you are IN GOVERNMENT now and are able to legislate & dissolve both houses of parliament. Why didn't the weak b*stard take it to an election? truly breathtaking..... |
|
By:
Abbott's line of "great big new tax" was biting, the country is split on if climate change is real or not, pretty big gamble to run an election with the ETS as the key issue - mind you the liberals are split on it and that could've been played on.
Having talked it up like he did, Rudd should've pulled the trigger. He hasn't, such is life - it's important not to forget the deal was done until the Liberals jumped ship, how many of them wish they didn't - I would be MUCH more worried if Turnbull was still in charge. |
|
By:
The science on climate change has been clearly proven and real. The debate is in the modelling predictions. I would like to see a sceptic (T Abott) debate a panel of scientists on facts.
Obama will get pass the cap and trade legislation in America in the next 18 months- Does this country really going to put a prime minister in who calls it "crap" ? I can picture the ads now ![]() |

Don't know what all the fuss is about......Kevin 10 is home, get on now. They only people who want Abbott are the Churches throughout Australia, the cycleists and the Ansell Condom company because Abbott will abbolish the pill.

Turn it up Wombleoz.
Had this been the Howard Government walking away from something Howard had described as "the greatest moral challenge of our time"...... There would be riots in the streets.... So Labor can play politics whenever they please, nothing is sacred, everything is excusable. But its not ok for the Opposition. Fk me drunk, honestly. |
|
By:
AP.
How about you look at the government? You know the lot that was elected in 2007, under the banner of Kevin07 - new leadership, fresh ideas. He said we CANNOT delay on climate change action. It is the greatest moral challenge of our time. Where are we now? Enlighten us. Tell me the big, miraculous Rudd Labor plan on climate change....the action agenda??????????????? Please tell us.........whats the excuse for today? "Oh the senate can be such a pain in the rear" Hear the silence.......fkn unbelievable Gutless wonders. |
|
By:
Pretty sad that we have a situation where the current governing party and its comrades turn to pointing the finger at the Opposition so early in the electoral cycle, screaming......his not doing anything.
LMAO ![]() ![]() ![]() Are they/you fking SERIOUS? Look up the definition of government...... And whilst your there, look up double dissolution. |
|
By:
In the view of Australian's, for Rudd to drudge up the "climate change is crap" comment from Abbott....would bring attention back to the fact this FRAUD has done sweet fk all on his self-proclaimed "greatest moral challenge of our time"
and again, before you go casting blame on the Coalition & minor parties..... Remember 2007, remember the words " The buck will stop with me " & "No more blame game" I'll let you guess which Emperor said those words. |
|
By:
Fair enough Canberra Bookie, Rudd has dudded us on climate change, he has delayed what should be happening now and really should get together with the Greens and introduce a carbon tax as an interim measure - as Turnbull says, nothing will happen on climate change until there is a price on carbon.
I don't understand why you think climate change is a big winner for Abbott though - remember he thinks it's crap and the people that actually want change in this area will know that the Liberals voted against it after having done a deal. Yes it's weak by Rudd, explaining the Green polling, but if you want change you will hardly vote for Abbott. Speaking of Abbott - "a famous victory is within ready grasp" according to his official spokesperson, but apparently not said with Abbott backing at rate of knots - looks like even his spokespeople should get what Abbott says in writing so that it's "gospel truth" ![]() |
|
By:
Canbeera Bookie : I agree with your sentiments , should of pulled the dd trigger , but as Womble says the deal was in place. What im pointing to is that the gov't will have a mandate to put it in if they win office. Abbott clearly is against which is more important to the electorate to decide. Their will be a fair bit of campaigning on the "price of carbon " issue. The libs seem to be arguing that don't vote for him because he is gutless. People want action and the Libs think it is "crap", they will go with Labour if K Rudd asks for a mandate from the people

Calling all political contributors to date...
Surely you comrades out there feel this strong push against Mr Abbott in regard to an additional mortgage taken out a few years ago.....is a tad desperate???? ![]() How low can you go? And Mr Rudd had the cheek to suggest that the Liberal Party will launch the mother of all scare campaigns this year??? |
|
By:
Sloppy by Abbott but not worth following up
The BIG news you will be happy about Canberra Bookie is that the ABC is reporting Labor is counting numbers for a challenge against Rudd without a challenger coming forward yet. Interesting night coming up in many ways Hoping Australia wins the soccer tonight but Howard being there in his tracksuit is pretty off putting |
|
By:
Huge story coming out from the ABC.
Fascinating situation. If I were a Coalition strategist not sure if I would be worried or not. I would certainly welcome the speculation & news coverage that will follow over the next 24 hours - it is severely damaging to federal Labor. There is no doubt that Rudd is a liability. But would Gillard be a sensible, calculated swap, just months out from an election? Ikcy territory, leadership changes in this stage of the electoral cycle - this is entering unchartered waters. I think Rudd JUST has the numbers, but that may change over the next few hours. If he does survive, this challenge may well be terminal for the government he leads. John Howard used to say: division is death. The ALP are rumbling. The nerves of steel are melting...a fascinating night ahead. |
|
By:
I have always said Rudd can certainly win this election.
But he would be incredibly peeved off tonight, for a number of reasons. One - the Labor Party machine has turned on him - they are a well-oiled machine in terms of factions - when it comes to dumping leaders. Two - he may just be losing his grip on the mantle of Prime Minister. Three - Rudd's stocks are losing value as this speculation continues to mount. Division is death. |
|
By:
Few moments ago on the ABC they reported...
Deputy Julia Gillard & Defence Minister John Faulkner currently in PM Kevin Rudd's office having discussions. The topic - leadership challenge. Are they informing the PM of a challenge or discussing how to combat this story. With news factional powerbrokers have dropped support for the Prime Minister Will Kevin Rudd be PM by weeks end? Can the Labor brand cop another "whacking" with this intense leadership speculation? ...... |
|
By:
Have to agree with you on this one Canberra Bookie, division is death - it's too late in the term for a failed challenge, there are only two outs. Fully get behind Kev and no challange, or change leaders - no 1/2 way measures.

Updated election prices
Gillard 4-7 Rudd 8-1 Abbott 5-2 |
|
By:
The UK conservatives have come in and surprise surprise up goes sales tax. Surely this has to be a bonus for labor, a scare campaign on the GST wether the outcome is true or not will surely help.
|
|
By:
Still locked in discussion within the PM's office.
Been going on for a while. Tomorrow is it - last opportunity for Labor to change. What do you think they should do Wombleoz? This is an awfully big story Australian's will hear tonight and wake up to tomorrow morning. Will wipe away any of the mudslinging & any possible ground made up by the ALP in the past few days. Gillard for PM - market suspended. |
|
By:
State governments are the winners here, tomorrow's media cycle won't be dominated by poker machines now.

After watching Sky for 10 mins
Updated election prices Gillard 1-4 Rudd 13-1 Abbott 3-1 |
|
By:
This looks like its really on.
Wayne Swan have gone into the PM's office in addition to Albanese & Tanner. Apparently, factional leaders from the Right have told Julia Gillard they have lost confidence in the PM and they want her to take over. Gillard is apparently undecided. The push for Gillard is getting stronger and stronger - big Laurie Oakes at Parliament House says this is "deadly serious". |

Now the Unions have moved to shift there support to Gillard.
LMAO Surprise surprise...... |

Gillard will take leadership if the numbers are spot on.
Here we go........ Kevin is terminal by the looks. |

Kevin will step down, Julia will step up and cream Tony

Julia Gillard (ex Socialist forum senior member) and all her Union mates are about to take control of our economy....
D I S A S T E R This is a huge gamble. 2011 election on the cards. Gillard is a popular Deputy PM..... how will Australians react to her as PM with a divisive ALP? |
|
By:
Kevin has put everyone offside with his arrogance & control freakishness. Media frenzy in Canberra. He has to go.
Updated election prices Gillard 1-3 Rudd 30-1 Abbott 11-4 |
|
By:
Julia has taken Tony apart in the past it will be no different this time - it's just a step to the left [;)]
|
|
By:
Its an unsustainable position now for Rudd to stay.
They have gone past the point of no return. Julia really has no choice, now or never. I really believe this will boost Mr Abbott's chances - Gillard is a popular deputy, not sure about as PM. And the Labor brand has copped a flogging with all of this mess. This is a first term government in leadership crisis. |
