3rd but no chance. Ground far too fast for it.
Better luck to everyone else. |

Lost it at the start barstool, not sure the ground was the issue. Beaten around the same distance he was left when the tape went up and on the backfoot thereafter. Had two earmarked for today but one has shortened to 6/4 and the other shortening slightly i.e Plains Drifter 14.45 hrs MR and Laffer Curve 1433 hrs Nabb. I was hoping for 2/1 for both and it will be a coin toss whether to put one up for the compy.
Any thoughts welcome. |

Personally i don't think that 6/4-2/1 shots, bring enough points for the competition at this stage of the week, perhaps come Fri/sat if it's a low scoring week, but if a few bang in 5/1-14/1 shots or bigger then we're chasing bigger SPs, just my opinion though.

I get what you are saying stew but that has not been the reality so far in the competition, winners have been few and far between never mind bigger prices apart from yourself and a couple of others. Chasing should never come into picking selections as it is likely to have the same outcome as chasing losing bets, consistent winners will get us in the points more than worrying about the others imo?
That said some have been going ew on shorties and also congratulating each other for only losing a couple of points etc. As long as you keep banging them in the rest of us will try and top you up!! LOL |
By:
You have to pick what you feel comfortable with Glen, and pick prices your happy to bet yourself, just think there will be quite a few horses with good chances around this price later in the week, depending how others go.
By:
Don't want to stop you from backing a horse you think has a really good chance Glen, it's always your selection, just a thought from me. If 8 of us can pick a 6/4 winner that's 200 points which is a great average but rarely works out, perhaps 3 or 4 may win.

Agreed stew, won't put anything up unless it looks more likely than not and price has to be worth a bet. Didn't put one up the other week after posting it here as I wanted a better price, law of sod it won but the nature of the beast. My big bugbear at the moment is unseated riders and fallers, seems to be every other bet.
By:
stew is right
its a lot easier to get a 25/1 winner from 8x 25/1 shots than it is 8/8 winner all 6/4 shots but middling scores are rewarded with points hobson's choice imo |

Thinking about putting up Freddy Robinson 5.45 Beverley.
Goes well at this couse having won 1 race and placed 4 times from 6 runs, from marks between 55 won and 64 placed, last ran here off 63 when 4th having been stopped in his run and losing all momentum before running on strongly over 10fs. !2f today and dropped 5lbs to 58 with usual jockey Ben Robinson back on top. Won over hurdles in Dec and had a pipe opener in March on AW so hopefully fit enough to take advantage of this reduced mark. Think will be about 4/1 so probably not worth going EW as a place only gives 10 pts. Any thoughts, negative is stable form but this looks a relatively poor race. |
By:
I wouldn't put you off stew, course form is a big plus there. Shame I never put Marco up earlier!! lol
By:
Just won the last at big odds as well!!
By:
Yes got a great double up. Just worried that he'll probably come 2nd/3rd and we'll get nothing. Quite like Kitty Bear at Leopardstown as well but would want a bigger price.
By:
Definitely winnable stew and some money for him, stable and jockey on a losing run but money often speaks for them.
By:
Have gone with it to Win. The horse that just won at Leopardstown Exceeding, i did a write up for lto when nowhere but decided against putting up, should have stuck with it today, never mind.
By:
Not to be, was worried when went off up with the pace, never mind can't win them all. Good luck rest of week fellas.

Good morning all, got an eye on Dropmeatthestation 1455 hrs Ayr, Maiden Hurdle. Has had 3 runs over timber and finished 3rd twice over 2m 3.5F and 4th over 2m 5f in varying ground, todays should pose no problems. Drops back to 2m today having weakened in the latter stages over further and has had a wind op since lto.
The fav has Bowen up for Murphy and making his hurdles debut having been beaten only a nose in his bumper here in a 4 horse race, the winner has not run since but the 3rd and 4th have been well beaten since. He makes the market as it stands with the selection available @ 5/2, I have gone for the horse based on proven hurdle experience, the drop in trip and the wind op, he has also won a PTP. I will only put him up nearer the off if at least 2/1, thoughts? |
By:
Seems to be solid around 9/4, I have to go out so will put it up now and hope we get a similar price at the off.

Don't reallt follow maiden hurdlers Glen especially up north. Had a quick look if i was having a bet would probably go Linalene EW, ran to 1/2 length of another Murphy novice lto rec 7lbs with a previous winner in Ireland in 3rd, that beat 2 horses that won well afterwards, so could have a chance.
As i said before it's your call but you'd think they expected your pick to be more of a stayer running over further initially. Murphy and Bowen both do well at Ayr as well, up to you Glen. |
