Good luck today.
Might have a job to catch the leaders this round, but we're only 9 pts off third place with 7 picks to play, so not sure about a gung ho policy just yet. Maybe we should just aim for a UEFA cup place ![]() |

Good luck Shane and Happysandwich later. I posted his choice on the selection thread. |

We are 22 points off the the overall lead, and over 100 points of the lead in this round. We haven't scored much more than a 100 points in any round so far. Who cares about finishing fourth or fifth? I could have got a comfortable 28 points plus, but there was no point. It's up to the individual what they do, but if you don't put up decent prices then you may as well just wave the competition goodbye. This really is the last chance saloon. We are not going to win four rounds in a row. Even if we did that would only leave us with something in the 50's.
I will post at Sandown tomorrow. Good luck to all. |

I'm going to throw caution to the wind and take a chance EW at around 25-1 on Al Simmo, 4.00 Doncaster.
She ran in a novice over C/D last August which was won in a fast time by subsequent Listed winner Starman, with a couple of currently 90-odd rated horses filling the frame, and although she was not surprisingly ultimately outclassed, she didn't shape too badly up to a point having been on the sharp end until around 1.5f out. She subsequently ran in a couple of handicaps, running okay to be fourth of thirteen at Salisbury, before running as though something was amiss at Wolverhampton. Al Simmo has her wellbeing to prove on her seasonal return, and she is eligible for weaker races than this, but she's only had the five runs so hopefully is open to improvement, and this race is confined to fillies and mares. |

china, don't think Shane's has run yet, there's still hope!
And the ground looks like it should be fine for him. |

Great Stuff George B. Good luck to those left to play.

Well done George. Brilliant. Just a question of whether it was going to find off the bridle. If only you had gone gung ho win only.
We are still behind but we now need to reassess the situation going into tomorrow. |

We are going into tomorrow around a 6/4 shot behind with 3 players left to play which is similar to those around us.
As I see it we can all go for it, or one of us could go for a 2/1 shot, just in case everyone else bombs. I don't think I have anything that fits that bill, Andrew and China any thoughts? |

Cheers captain and chaps. Shame the price didn't hold up, but there ya go.
I had decided on a strict policy of selecting only on a Saturday for this comp, so that I was no longer in 'should I or shouldn't I pick that one' mode for most of the week. So it feels like a 'bonus' winner! Good luck tomorrow. |

dd, Andrew & china still to post.
I fancy a couple of them will bring in some points. Good luck troops. I`m working but will try to look in a few times during the afternoon. |

The fourth horse from that Doncaster race, Hoorah Henry, ran a similar sort of race, up on the pace and tried to go with far superior types and wasn't disgraced, but when he went into handicaps last season of what looked a favourable mark, he didn't offer anything.
I don't know if we'll be seeing him again, but he's now only rated 62, and may be worth keeping an eye out for if the pause that refreshes proves beneficial. |

Never a guess then, form is everything, well done.

As I have had no response to my message above I am just going to plough ahead.
On Thursday I had a good look for outsiders on the Sandown card. There was no point guessing on the Flat. I came up with three possibles, Twominutes Turkish, Supreme Escape and Clondaw Caitlin. The first named is going to get pace pressure and realistically you could pick eight or more and not get one in the three so ruled that race out as being far too bookmaker friendly. Supreme Escape was 28/1 on Thursday and now 8/1 and that is no value whatsoever for a horse who might be quickly outclassed even in this very moderate renewal. So it was a pretty obvious choice:- 4.15 Sandown Clondaw Caitlin EW I wasn't going to go each way but the winner yesterday has afforded that opportunity. I think she has about 10lbs to find, but as a lightly raced and fresh 6yo that isn't impossible. In fact had she had a clear run this season those 10lbs might already be in the bank. She made a promising chasing debut behind Galvin after which I got her put in the market for the Mare's Chase. Unfortunately, she was then injured and off the track for 5 months before reverting to hurdles and just failing to concede 15lbs. That should have put her spot on for this step up in class. I say step up in class, but the favourite who looks the main danger hasn't won a race for two years. Today should reveal which route she takes next season. Last night there was no market support, but this morning she has been cut. Hopefully, she won't shorten too much. The stable has had an horrendous year, but the last couple of runners have gone well. As ever fingers crossed. |

Good luck dd, i`ll try to watch the race.

Hi Guys,
Superb pick George, VWD that's put us back in the game. I'm looking at other selections to see thev best way to play. Without the George winner i would probably have gone with Kittys light in the Bet365 for the odds, but maybe i should look for something that wins us 25 points. Good luck to all that play later. |

Double Reflection - 3.20 Leicester Win
Was going to look for something bigger e/w but think 50-60 more points might be enough , especially if Andrew and dd can come up with something as well. Best of luck today |
|
By:
What a bummer. All that for nothing. I don't fancy anything nearly as much as that one, but presumably they didn't want to risk her despite form on good ground.
So same race:- 4.15 Sandown Indefatigable EW There are negatives after two tough races and going right handed, but trip and ground should suit. |

Pogo - 2.10 Leicester 10 pts win
Good luck guys. |

Not to be. She travelled like the best horse, but perhaps those two hard races eventually took their toll.
Still wherever we end up it was good to be competitive again. Hopefully, something similar next round. At least we have Punchestown for some jumping action. |

Well done Andrew

Well done Andrew and Differentdrum, unlucky china.
Oh well, I think it's looking like we're going to finish second, but hey, let's accentuate the positives, we've had our best round yet! |

Thanks, it was a strange one because I had two bets on Clondaw Caitlin and also saved on Younevercall at 7/2 so in the end I was cheering against myself. Had she have won we would have won the round, but that's the way it goes.
Looking at the table it's going to take something of a miracle, but we are not completely out of it. It goes without saying that we need to set our sights on 12 points each round, nothing else will do. |

Morning Guys,
Thanks for the WD's. I decided to play safe with Pogo after Georges excellent contribution on Friday and the 22 pts is more than i would have gained with an EW on Kittys Light. WD with the points DD, they all count. Also WD to the team in general in the last couple of weeks, much improved. Realistically i doubt we can catch TOFTL, but it's only HT and there are 48 points up for grabs so let's give it a go. George, i noticed you also played Kittys in the NH comp (i put it up in the daily naps as well) we were unlucky, he was the moral winner, but sadly they don't get paid out. |
