Very frustrating. When I put up a winner in the last round just about everyone else did. It was probably one of the best single days in the competition, and today the Thieves put up the winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas that gets up on the line. Never too sure about the idea that things even out.

Well done Differentdream, hopefully a springboard to a winning round for us.
Ruby Walsh sounded pretty pessimistic about her chances when discussing the race on RTV earlier, though tbf, he said third place would be a good result! |

Nice winner last week George.
Unlucky DD, but still a good start for us. Ground drying out, so maybe we can get a handle on something. Windsor abandoned late May, what is going on ? |

I played this one earlier today. Good luck tomorrow. I had backed Brad The Brief in that race, but for the moment I have cashed out. That leaves me with three, but I thought it was a pretty horrible betting day. Roll on next week. I wouldn't be surprised if I put up Hurricane Lane again although given I see him as a 4/1 shot perhaps it isn't the greatest sign that he is drifting towards double figures. |

Good luck today chaps.
I've gone for Night Narcissus EW in the 4.05 Haydock (generally 9-1 currently). She's only had a couple of chances on turf so far, running well on debut last September over C/D when her effort probably wanted marking up given how the race panned out; and although she was a little disappointing returned to turf last time at Nottingham, it's possible the drop to 5f on good to firm ground was an inadequate test, though she still wasn't beaten far despite her finishing position of eighth. Hopefully the step back up to 6f on easier ground will show her in a better light. |

Thanks for wild card earlier George, well done on place points too.
Good luck on the runners we have left. |

Shane, happysandich had posted on the selection thread but I managed to miss it. Just custard's pick left to run.

Well done on the place points George.
Not that many points around today, but to have anything like a realistic chance next week we really need Custard's to win. Fingers crossed. |

Dickens 8.30 Yarmouth on the nose. Think its last race at Newmarket will work out well.
Down in class also, hopefully they make a bit more use of it. Currently 5s |

I was right about the Newmarket race being the key, just got the wrong horse. I'm pretty sure that was a strong heat. The next four months should pay well, a shame the comp finishes in a few weeks.

16 weeks is long enough and already plenty of work for an organiser. I don't think we can have any excuses. Realistically, we have never been at the races.
Now it's just about trying to make sure we don't end up with the wooden spoon. Good luck for the rest of this week. As I have said before I will probably stick with Hurricane Lane. Hopefully, he is the one ante-post bet that comes good after a disastrous run topped off by Noon Star (50/1) coming out yesterday. Only one to come out, and I had the opportunity to cash out a profit. You keep hoping things will turn, but sometimes that's just a false hope. We shall see on Saturday. |

By:
Werbie, unlucky and a decent price.
As DD says, we haven't performed well this time, but it is a competition after all. Let's just not get the wooden spoon. |

Zeyaadah - 4.30 Epsom
10pts win |

By:
Good luck both.
I had backed both, but cashed out on Pyledriver as the rain is a big concern. |
|
By:
Rain seemingly not a problem, well done custard. A nice step towards staving off the wooden spoon. Hopefully, we can land the double.

Very well done Custard, what a gutsy performance that was from the horse.
Good effort with Dickens, werbie Good luck Shane |

4.30 Epsom Hurricane Lane WIN
I sometimes wonder what I have done wrong. I was on Noon Star at 50/1 for the Oaks and she was pulled out injured at the last minute and in July of last year I backed Snowfall at 40/1 for both the 1,000 Guineas and Oaks. When I cashed out those bets I was just glad to get something back as her runs following breaking her maiden were abysmal. To add insult to injury I managed to cash out today on Pyledriver. Those were all single bets. I have backed Hurricane Lane five times. As he was pushed out I kept going in again. After the Dante I couldn't see why he wasn't at least second favourite. After the rain today he has finally been supported. For me he ticks all the boxes and given clear passage it will be hugely disappointing if he isn't in the mix. All my bets are each way, but for the purposes of the competition it has to be a win. Although I had a couple of winners today the two I backed in the Classic couldn't have run any worse, finishing last and last but one. Hopefully, that isn't an omen. |

Good luck today chaps.
I'm going for a risky one today, Solent Gateway, EW, 2.00 Epsom, currently top priced 25-1. He seems relatively exposed after 9 starts and still being a maiden, but he hasn't had many chances at beyond a mile, and when he was stepped up to 8.5f at Wolverhampton last December, he ran well to be second against useful AW performer Final Voyage, who was beaten under a length off an 11lb higher mark at Chelmsford just the other night. Solent Gateway wasn't seen again until the Chester May meeting when stepped up to 10.5f in a maiden, and after having had enough use made of him from stall seven, he wasn't disgraced in finishing third behind Alfaadhel, who has since followed up under a penalty at Lingfield (AW), and has been given an initial rating of 97. The big worry is what happened to Solent Gateway last Saturday at Chester when very weak in the betting and offering little, albeit finding himself poorly positioned given how the race panned out. He's out again fairly quickly and maybe he'll find a few of these too classy despite being in receipt of weight all round, but he looks worth at least one more chance given the form he had shown previously behind Final Voyage and Alfaadhel. |
