ust looking at some posts about scoring and the each way anomaly we need a team discussion on where we are going to counter that
We all need to have the same thoughts about the £5 each way and go with that ie is £5 each way on a 4-1 worth it, as £10 win scores 0 if it loses If it places, undecided will post here what it scores because quite a few of us dont know, other teams TNM losing it big time because of this |

I am putting this up on all team threads to hopefully get your agreement to a scoring change, mid-competition, something I don't like doing but I think in this case it warrants it.
The scoring method I use gives back 10pts stake to winners, and doesn't take it off losers, so it makes no difference to winning Win or EW selections. Where the selection is placed, I have been only giving back the 5pts place part of the stake, so the 5pts win stake is deducted but really shouldn't be. So for example Current scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 12.50 (7.50 profit plus 5pts stake back) Proposed scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 17.50 (7.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) There has been a question on why I give the stake back. I wanted to keep the week's scoring baseline at zero rather than work with minuses for losses. So a team with 8 non-selections or losing selections stays on zero rather than -80, it's just tidier in my opinion and makes no material difference to scoring other than the place anomaly. |

dukeofpuke didn't post on the selections thread so I'll copy it over later, just give a bit of time in case of change of mind.

qqking has Tempus in the 4.50 Ascot - win
I will probably go in today as well. |
|
By:
Just posted
What are everyones thoughts on each way ie what price and number of runners |
|
By:
duke, see my post above, ew should be fairer if I get the change through.
Decisions could depend on how we are standing in the table at the time, should just be left to the individual's judgement imo. |
|
By:
Was going to do Walhaan but as qq has done Tempus in that race will wait until tomorrow I think.

Tranchee - 4.55 Hayd - Win
Seems a good 2nd last time - winner clear and rest knowhere, strong in the market but that may change now I'm in. A negative is trainer form. |

well done qqking
![]() Mine traded 1.05 but that's not much use. |
|
By:
Well done qq and UD unlucky think a pair of blinkers might have helped there.
|

Well done qq,unlucky UD,mine ran like a drain, hopefully my other pick doesnt hose up tmoz
|

Well done qqking for your winner yesterday and very unfortunate undecided when you get one to go as low as 1.05 in running and then lose. I am finding it difficult to find any inspiration for today, my original thought is a non-runner but I am sure there are some decent priced winners out there. How difficult should it be to find one! Will probably wait quite late until posting to see how the early selections fare.

Morning all wd qq and unlucky ud.
I have two I like today - both in the same race - 4.10 Stratford. A tight contest and a lot closer than the market suggests. Young Wolf didn't impress me with his jumping lto and I made a note to take him on next time. My two are Mellow Ben (who does need good summer ground imo) and Fixed Rate. FR best run was on his reappearance last season at Aintree but his subsequent 2 runs were disappointing. Maybe fresh is the time to catch him and I expect him to front run at a decent pace. I will wait until nearer the off and will play one of them EW - my likely pick will be FR and I have put that one up in the naps comp. In the event of track records being broken earlier on the card I may switch to MB. Good luck with your punting today. |

Think these might run well also for a place......

well done duke, perhaps The Sawyer didn't realise 3pm cut-off.
|
|
By:
Sorry lads forgot - wac I am.
I know I joked about track records but I think the winner of the first broke the record set in 1956. I was coming on to post that I'd changed my mind so lets hope something else wins - sorry again but the form I've been in lately suggests both my hopes will be tailed off |
|
By:
Really well done duke

A great tactical move this afternoon by The Sawyer to not post a selection and a great pick by dukeofpuke.
|
|
By:
Good job i was on the ball, and a nice price thought it could have been shorter around 6-1,was ultra cautious and went each way

Great stuff Duke.

Well done Duke great pick

I am indebted to you duke for partially saving my blushes.
Thank you in particular for spotting the error of my ways - I have therefore decided to post early this week and intend to put up Our Rockstar in the 3.20 at Fontwell. It is shorter than I had hoped but has dropped plenty in the weights (first time wind op) and if its a "going" day it should beat these. Once again duke many thanks |
|
By:
Well done duke!

unlucky The Sawyer, beats the fav but...
|
|
By:
Indeed, unlucky, thought it was going to win jumping the last but probably needed the rail to run against.

I am also prepared to go early again this week.
Anyone that saw Spanish Kiss run eleven days ago will have jotted it down in their notebook for next time out. Was too far out of it's ground turning in and finished like a train. It had two entries for tomorrow and one for Tuesday and the very astute trainer that is William Knight has decided that the 6.00 at Windsor tomorrow is the best option. Forecast 3/1 favourite so 10pts win is the stake. Cheers, Mad. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
good luck mad hope they dont smash into it.
|
|
By:
Non runner, I am afraid
|
|
By:
Yep, no problem.
William Knight has decided to send it all the way up to Newcastle on Tuesday instead to run over an extra furlong on the a/w. Who am I to argue with his opinion. I will put it up for tomorrow instead, 10pts win at about 7/2. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Jesus lads...I'm sorry!
![]() Three non-runners this morning, taking out over 30% of the market, and it still got beat... Hope you can all manage to make up for my ineptness over the next few days/selections. |
