Nice one custard, just what we needed, off to a solid winning start.

Well done, never in doubt.
Not sure we have started a week with a win before. I think I might try this going in late trick. |

Cheers guys. Best of luck to everyone for the rest of the week.

Very well done CC, a nice start to the week.
I think i already have my selection for Newmarket on Saturday. Good luck to anyone that plays in the meantime. |

I will almost certainly be putting one up in the Persian War on Friday. I have backed it several times ante-post and got three places. In terms of the competition it is a shame there are only seven left now but I still think it is worth the risk, particularly if they get plenty of rain. The closer to heavy the better.

Gone for Queen of Kalahari in the competitive looking opener at Southwell. 10pt win

Very well done Mackies. We are in a strong position already in this round.

Well done (again) Mackies.
A good start has become a very good start. This going in late seems to be working well at the moment. |

Well done mackies , another great pick

VWD mackies, a good on the nose selection, the Pins are unstoppable this week, in fact i'm almost frightened to post a selection in case it loses.
![]() I already have one in mind for tomorrow at Newmarket (i like the horse) and China may know what it is, but i'll take a look at the race in detail tonight. Good luck later Shane. |
|
By:
Good luck Shane.
In a quandary as to what to do myself. It was the intention to post one at Chepstow but I had been expecting soft to heavy ground. Despite the weather coming from the west Chepstow remains much quicker than Newmarket and York. How often are you going to say that? So do I stick with the original plan? |
|
By:
Dd, what's your fancy at Chepstow?

I’m fed up using birthdays (all my Aunts are dead) to find a winner so I’m trying a new method.
Newmarket 1:50 Method 10pts Win |

I've posted Happysandwich's pick onto the selections thread.

I decided to stick with what I planned. At the start of the week I was very, very hopeful. I don't often back a horse 4 times. Unfortunately, the ground has gone against. I was hoping the expected soft/heavy would enable him to draw the sting out of the others. On official ratings he is only 3lbs off the favourite. Now the fear is that two out he might just be a sitting duck. I had seen him as a 4/1 shot on testing ground. At least we are probably getting double that, albeit with only two places. Part of reason for staying loyal was the lack of alternatives. I have backed Terentum Star at York, and the two Joseph O'Brien two-year-olds but who knows what we will get from Moore and Crosse and Thinking Of You almost certainly wants a mile. Nothing obvious tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else. |

Good luck DD. Don't forget to post it on the selections thread.

OK the cat is out of the bag with respect to a late entry for Enable. I thought she would have a chance as the highest allocated weight is 9st 10lb for the race. I guess JG will probably consider something less demanding at Ascot now. ![]() As for your more serious answer, correct, but i want to look through the field tonight. Good luck DD, Happysandwich and Shane. We should be in 3 figures later ![]() |

Bad luck HS. As I said elsewhere it was a strange ride.

By:
Thanks for transferring CC. I hadn't forgotten it was just my intention to put it up late like our other two winners this week.
|
|
By:
Very disappointed. It went as I feared. The quick ground wrecked his chances. I have no doubt on testing ground he would have beaten the two good ground horses who have finished second and third.

Chindit - 2.55 Newmarket

Good luck china and Andrew
Decisions, decisions, plenty on the shortlist but not one in particular leaping off the page at me. Funnily enough I was leaning towards Lothario in the 6.30, who's been shaping like he's about to find some form, has become well handicapped, is proven over C/D and gets first time blinkers, but at 5-1 wouldn't want to have a second runner in the same race at those odds. The one at a price I was thinking about was Montys Inn in the 7.30. who probably shaped better than the bare result at Kempton two starts back over a mile when sitting too close to what looked an overly strong pace, and the run last time was on soft turf; back on the AW tonight off an 8lb lower mark, but is he a 6f horse and will he take to Chelmsford against some proven performers round there? So the pin has landed on one fairly prominent in the betting in a competitive handicap - Indiana Grey, 5pts EW, 2.24 Limerick. |
