My ideas of the winners to be honest.

Without trying to sound too gay... Not sure they have done them any favours with the makeover though.

Espicially the one in the middle who can actually sing.

Deliberate Simon Cowell ploy in my opinion. They will sail through the early rounds, so no need to make a seriuos effort yet, then as the show progresses, you will see a transformation. BTW they are nailed on winners!

Solid enough start. Didn't look as bad as the photo either. [;)]

I'm wondering if they will ever trade bigger than they are now. I'm not sure whether to have another go now or wait in the anticipation that they are going to be a bigger price at some point in the next few weeks.

Have the psychological benefit of being the chosen ones in the perception of gamblers, and are performing adequately

Possible you could be right about the price Benjy

Cowell wants them to win, which often helps in my experience.
The downside is I've backed them, which traditionally spells doom for any act.

cowell wanting them to win is half the battle

they'll win or at the very very least lose in the final two

I think they'll be popular as the girls will vote for them being young good looking lads and they're not bad as a group.  However I thought they were poor on Saturday and whilst they'll probably progress a long way when push comes to shove and it's them verses an 'Aiden' say for arguements sake I think the public will speak and they'd be out.

well i just dont agree. aidan is probably gay, a little bit wet and weird and i dont think necessarily the girls will vote for him like they will vote for the boyband. i also dont think cowell will want another young male winner like last year for the sake of the programme. and the other thing, the crucual thing, is that aidan probably peaked in the first show, whereas one direction were poor, all over the place and will improve and improve. simon will throw cash at it, they will get better and better, they can sing well anyway, and their story arc will work perfectly. more i think about it the more i think they will win
By:

Cowell certainly doesn't want them peaking too early

I didn't think they were bad at all anyway. The asian kid obvious seems a bit out of place amidst the hitler youth

yeah i know, wonder if they set fire to his bed on their dormitory

cowell is clever, when it realy matters they will sing a ballad, they wont move much, and harry and liam will do all the singing.

the little asian one will still be s hitting himself but probably partially obscured behind a pillar or something.

and cowell will try to stop the other one with the swept across hair grinning like a loon

Price on here looks generous anyway, no better than 5.5 on the HS

I do think on here people tend to think Cowell this and Cowell that yet he hasn't won it for about 5 years with one of his own acts and one of his own acts went out the very first week.  Why didn't he wave his magic wand and save them?

I think the lads will go far but win it? .................... I could well be wrong but not for me.

Why didn't he wave his magic wand and save them?

oh sweet lord!  do people genuinely think cares if one of "his" acts wins the competition or not?!?!

they're ALL his acts.  whichever act wins, cowell wins.  it wouldn't matter if he was mentoring the groups or the overs or whoever, he clearly wants one direction have a seriously good run at this.

true but the fact he is mentoring helps, because the public like him and he knows how to play the game better in terms of song choices, pubic manipulation etc

Yes but it hasn't 'helped' for the last 5 years and this year he has the dreaded 'groups' which traditionally don't do well.  'Stitched Up' was his reaction when hearing he'd got them.

Do you think the groups would have been his ideal choice though.  The boys and girls gategory's were both very strong.  Ideally wouldn't he rather have had those category's do you think?

I don't know.  I know the other two gategory's were far stronger though.

depends on your definition of the competition.  if it was a singing competition, simon may see the boys and girls as the stronger categories.  as it's a vehicle for simon to try to manufacture the most profitable result for him, i think he'd like to see one direction given a huge huge push.  if he gets them to the final, he'll be happy, as he'll know he can milk these lads for a good few quid.

lou did you think i was having a pop at you there? i wasnt btw, stop being sensitive

all i was saying imo, and lets face it its all about opinions, is that cowell wanted groups, he chose groups, he wants to be the judge who finally wins with groups - he knows it would be very good in terms of the show's diversity if a group wins, he knows how to make them win etc etc. the boys and the girls might have looked stronger but i think cowell wanted the groups.

gym tan laundry - sounds like you dont agree. fair enough.

let's see what happens

Fair enough

I don't think Cowell wanted the groups which is just as good a guess as you saying he did.  In fact it's a 3-1 shot he wanted the groups.

We'll never know.
By:

i dont think its a guess. i think cowell chooses the category he wants, and he has been careful not to win each year as it wouldnt look right. now he hasnt won for 5 years and thinks he is the man to finally get the groups over the line in his final year before he slings his hook to america. of course he chooses, why would he not?

Of course I'm not right all the time far from it.  I just don't THINK he chooses because he likes to 'win' so thereforw wouldn't have picked the groups over the boys/girls who were far far stronger IMO.

on friday afternoon, your only bet was laying one of the "big boys" to lose 1.5k.  and you were planning to wait till you saw the live show repeat before placing your one back bet.

on sunday, you'd already layed each of the 3 original girls, backed nicolo and aiden (the big mover, surprise surprise) before the live shows and then placed your "big bet"on matt.

I also backed Aiden to win about £1500.  I got 12 and he's now down to about 5.4 so great stuff  you placed £136 on aiden before saturday evening, even though you were holding out to put £400 on matt?

and you maintained your refusal to say which ONE of the "big boys" you'd layed was because it would narrow down the 11 you might place your back bet on?  (even though you'd actually layed 3 girls, and backed 2 boys already).

in addition, you say above that the girls and the boys were clearly the strongest categories pre-live show.  yet you layed ALL THREE girls?!

also, you steadfastly claim it's a singing competition, but in your review you say that aidan needs to show us he can move a bit.

there are more contradictions than the iraqi information minister being grilled by paxman on newsnight.  scooby doo's less confused than you.

To answer that

1.  There'a a long time between Friday afternoon and Sunday that's why I'd laid two other 'girls' and backed tow of the boys at nice prices.  i personally thought the boys could be the last three left and the girls not quite good enough against them.

2.  I've said all along I think this is very very open but gun at my head I'd go for Matt to win it.  Wanted to see if Gamu was in it as I thought IMO she was a match for anyone.  Had to wait till the actual show which I never watch till the next day to make sure she wasn't in it.

3.  I think the girls are good and can see rebecca and cher doing well (don't fancy Katie personall at all) but ultimately IN MY OPINION they aren't as good as Matt, Aiden or even Nicolo

4.  I think it is a singing competition without a shadow of a doubt but feel that Aiden, Matt, Rebecca all look very stiff and will have to show a bit more than just standing at a mic'  Do SOMETHING!

I hope that's all ok with you and if you honestly think I'm lying then fair enough.  What can i do.
