By: hemsby When: 11 Oct 10 21:21 Just read this thread . I have to watch this on a Sat/Sun evening as my wife and kids are big fans....OK I guess I don't have to but in order to make it more bearable I like to place a bet on my idea of the winner.
In my opinion all these type of programmes ie X Factor,the Andrew Lloyd Webber stuff,etc are all edited to attempt to make the voting public choose "the chosen one" therefore the skill is working out who it is. IMO the poster nearest the truth is Nikki...Cowell chooses all 16 acts,some intentionally useless to make the others look better. His only concern is who will make him the most money....and I feel the most marketable out of all the acts is this boyband.Personally I think they are useless,however the way previous shows introduced all the members individually,(the part where the asian lad throws a paddy about being unable to dance springs to mind) and the throw away comments like "you guys were not good enough individually to get in the solo catorgeries" is all designed to make them more likeable. I agree that they will be a slow burner with a few power ballads sang bt the 2 strongest singers in the later shows. Good luck everyone with your bets and views.......my bet has been placed I think the big push has started.Harry had been held back until tonight ....according to my wife and daughter,he is the "cute one" and I wouldn't be surprised to see him feature in every performance from here on in.Personally I still think they are useless,but I still think they are the most likely winners. |

Seems a bit ominous to me that Cowell has had to ramp them to the max, Push Harry to the fore and give them the pimp slot all in 1 week. Possibly the reason why they have ditched the double evictions too.
Obviously gets the kiddy vote but kids dont decide this show. I doubt they are getting too many votes |

Lay Professional, FO if you are not actually going to contribute anything and just say the same crap all the time.
A1, they didn't actually get the pimp slot did they? And it's fair to assume their voters (predominantly young girls) aren't going to take part in an email survey, no? 208 isn't a great sample to read anything into about the others either. |

But they have been in the last 2 in the order in the last 3 shows, I doubt they would have them slots if they were doing well in the voting As for survation, i agree young grls are not really survations highest % of responders but young girls are also not really the demographic that decide these type of shows. For me 1direction are one of the worst prices I have ever seen on a specials market |

Problem is One D's main demographic is going to be the Under 18s. My little sister and her friends spend a 5er a week on voting these guys, she says every girl in her school votes for them. I suspect most schools up and down this country follow suit. IF they were to be pimped in the final with Take That, I'd be amazed if they didn't win. Harry and Robbie side to side, and it won't only be the Under 18s voting in their masses.

A1, agree they have been noticably late on in a lot shows. Will be earlier next week I imagine, although being Cowells only act also helps them be not too early.

You are somebody who's opinion initially dictates their book and then their book takes over their opinion though. You have convinced yourself who you like and dislike and refuse to change your mind whatever happens. I have no personal favourites but these lads are my biggest green. They have had their fair share of shockers (who hasn't this series?) but they also have had a couple of good ones. They also clearly should still be there, as there has been far far worse every week.

I think they're actually getting better, better harmonies every week, but none of them are strong individually, still a mile from Matt and Rebecca and I can't see them ever appealing to the average voter.

I'm really not trying to deliberately go with my book. I'm happy that I've backed Matt of course and justifiably so but IMO I would have rated One D no better than about halfway in the whole initial field. For instance IMO John, TreyC, Aiden and Paije were all better than them for a start. |
