Sounds like Liam's all set to go solo soon:-
X Factor's One Direction have reportedly clashed over which members get the most attention. The group, who were formed by Simon Cowell after failing to qualify for the talent competition as solo artists, have begun to argue over which of them is most popular, according to Heat. A source said: "There is so much friction in the group. The other boys are jealous that Harry [Styles] and Liam [Payne] are getting all the press attention. It's a real sore point. "Louis [Tomlinson], Niall [Horan] and Zain [Malik] are worried that they aren't as popular and that no-one knows who they are." However, Payne's mother fanned rumours of rivalry, telling the magazine: "Liam has a very strong following. "I can't speak for the other boys, I don't know about their solo careers, but Liam gigged all over the country so he has both options open really." |

Not good enough. What I need to hear is that one or even better two of them are @rseholes, difficult to work with and difficult to like. That should bust the band up nicely. This isn't me being an illwisher and nasty its just logic. Take several young men each of them egotistical and narcisistic enough to want to be a star. The chances are at least of of them is going to be hard to like. Add to that that the fact that they never knew eachother before, certainly not grown up in the buisness together ,have nothing incommon except that they each love themselves and are being told by a middle aged reptile that they have got to be best mates; now stick em together at random and wait for the explosion. |

Just SC keeping the attention on them mid series...

Or is it Max Clifford style for "You lads had better start liking eachother or Simon drops you as chosen ones and I tell the press how you are really behaving." |

Surely the other 3 are grateful that they could actually have a decent music career from very little talent.

That's horrible press for them.

Continuing a discussion, now old (ie at the front), of the Week 5 Songs thread....
To compare 1D to JLS must remember - JLS were in their 20s, not the cutey whiteboy band. Unlike 1D they were very talented, had been singing for a long time and had been together as a band (different name) for two years. ID are better singers than Connected, better looking, less chavy, but fall into the same vote void. Are 1D the next TakeThat or Westlife? I don't think they're good enough. More to the point do they appeal to the XF demographic (which JLS did)? I think that's no. Does anybody know anywone over 16 who votes for them? |
|
By:
Apart from Louis, no.
Totally agree with you btw. My niece and her friends (mid 20's) all love Matt (unfortunately) They all liked JLS but wouldn't vote for 1D in a million years. |

Yes I just don't think they are good enough full stop. Another not bad performance last Saturday to a catchy song but they need more than that. Compare it to Cher. I haven't backed her, in fact the exact opposite but she had the 'wow' factor last week surely. |

I think a lot of JLS voters were under 16 tbh.

agreed, but plenty/probably the vast majority were over 16 too.

Interesting question - what do we believe is the voting 'demographic'? I happen to think it has got younger by the series and they vote powerfully the young group. |

I think many potential 1d voters will be over 16, but these are in danger to be leeched by Matt/Rebecca/Aiden
The JLS voting wifey I know is creaming herself over 1d as it happens She's a bit bonkers though. The more sober wifey of my own would more likely be a cardie dullard |
|
By:
...and you seem to be conveniently forgetting all the 'mums and grannies' older votes they will get, for certain.

Women 40 -55 pick the winner imo.
Apart from GB's strange wife, I'd expect most to find Matt, Rebecca and Mary, more appealing than 1D |

Nah, it's her mate that's the 1d freak fig

Ms and Gs five! 40-55

If Aiden could cheer up just a little and have a modicum of a journey, he could mop up 1d's mum vote imo
|

I watch the show most weeks with two ladies who would not exactly be described as a (ahem) younger demographic - they both coo and ahh each week over the young lads and the only one of the two that votes does so for them (and Rebecca, oddly enough).

lol ok GB. I bet she collects teddy bears :)

How can anyone deny that cuddly Harry is picking up bundles of M&G votes

I backed him but. Do want him to cheer up and lose his uniqueness; No, do I want him to go on a journey from interesting to comercial nothingness; No. Do I want to lose my bet? er...mmmmm. Just let him come into 10's and I'll lay off. |

The YouGov survey, which was huge, didn't show any extra mum and granny support for 1D. (Unfortunately they didn't poll under 18s). They got 3% of the vote broken down:
18-24 3% 25-39 4% 40-59 3% 60+ 2% |
|
By:
When was that taken, and is there a link H?

I just downloaded the pdf George, just go to yougov.co.uk. Taken after (and during) 2nd live show.

Here you go GB -
http://today.yougov.co.uk/archives/life The poll was taken over 12 days. Some of it before the 1st liveshow |
|
By:
Their final poll last year was spot on.
Mary very popular with over 60 scottish women. Cher most popular with young southern men |

These guys can't even get something as systematic like the Election right.

They're one of the best out there and weren't far off.
Their 4th May poll was within 1% of the actual result for all 3 parties. Rather better than your average DS or even bbonline poll. |
|
By:
I like Dave, Nick's the only one I'm not keen on.
They're not bad, and I'd definitely like to see a survey straight after the final. |
|
By:
Their poll last year was pretty good
If you take out the don't knows. Joe 53.75% - actual result 52.2% Olly 25% - Actual 27.7% Stacey 21.25% - actual 20.1% |
|
By:
if that poll is anything to go by then 1D are terrible odds.
|

By:
^^^^^ ;)

TBF it was a poll that was taken from just before the 1st liveshow til just after the 2nd. So things will have changed and it will change alot more before the final.
Their core support is incredibly low amongst the over 18's though. |
|
By:
Those results for the final really are stunningly accurate though aren't they?
FLL - these were taken in the days before the final iirc? |
|
By:
Pretty fair poll that. Wonder what it was like for Eoghans year.
And was that poll taken post the final?! |
