I filled up my Porsche Panorama this morning at £1.43 per liter. And if you are stupid enough to still not get what's going on, that's why I'm driving one and you are not.
you're driving a porsche and exposing yourself to rapidly increasing costs which you predicted yourself (indeed apparently thought would be much worse) because i'm stupid ![]() |

People should bring back more of this type of thread if only to shut that gobshiite Melly up. Imagine living in Melly World. Every day he opens his bedroom curtains expectantly thinking this could be the day and then he bursts into tears if the sun is shining and goes back to bed until the next day when if it has started to rain he gathers up Norman and Hilda his trapped rats and rushes down to the self built Ark about which the council has served final notice to demolish.
Poor Melly. He didn't even get high inflation let alone hyperinflation. The only two things massive are his ego and his lack of shame. A definite pattern which persists to this day was evident though. Plenty of people, myself included, were prepared to give an opinion and timeline with most of us being there or thereabouts. Only Melly wouldn't and there is no surprise in that because he was hopelessly out of his depth. By the way Melly. How much does it cost to fill up the shiitmobile today? |

By:
You know life is just so unfair. I've been up on this roof now for nearly two years with my binoculars pressed against my eyes. I'm hungry, my arse has gone numb and I need a poo and still I can't see Melly's tsunami and yet back in the real world:
The falling cost of crude oil and raw materials filtered through to shop prices last month, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) has said. Overall shop price inflation slowed to 1.1% in June from 1.5% in May, its lowest level in two-and-a-half years, while food inflation fell to 3.5% from 4.3%, the BRC said. The slump is caused by crude oil prices falling by a quarter on three months ago, and food commodities such as coffee and sugar also descending sharply. In addition, weak demand and aggressive competition continues to drive retailers to put on discounts and special deals, further lowering the cost of goods. How was I know that when Melly talked about a tsunami of inflation he meant his own inflating rhetoric and bullshiit? Ever get the feeling you've been conned? |

melly cops 125 pounds a lecture but is concerned with 1.43 a litre
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ETO- inflation now 1.1% do you realise that it COULD DOULBE!!!!!!!!! to a whopping 2.2%. Thats hyperinflation in melly world ![]() |

My bad chaps, I need to apologize, I should have made it clear that the tsunami would be noticeable only IF you intended to keep your family warm in the winter, don't feed them sh1t, educate them and provide the best possible care when they get sick.
I fully understand why you haven't been able to see it. |

By:
I'd rethink calling me moron if I were you. In fact I think you'd be far better off if you called me brilliant or mensa IQ level prodigy or the smartest human being ever, or something like that.
You see, as you lay awake at night muttering between your teeth "what an idiot I was to let this guy mess with my head", you'd be better off if you finished it up with "he's a brilliant the SOB". Because if you thought I was a moron after doing *that* to you, where the feck is that leave you? ![]() |

How could you be so stupid? So I repeat,......how do you plan to get rid of the "Menelaus" I stenciled on your mind? |

I drew you in. Of course you thought you were invited. You should have paid attention to those horror movies when you were young.

And despite your delusional state causing you to think you are winning you can't stop dancing for me. Why is that?

The best psy-ops operations are the ones that leave the target believing that his responses are voluntary and that those ideas implanted in his mind are actually.....his.
How could you be so stupid? The question remains...how do you plan to get rid of the "Menelaus" I stenciled on your mind? |

On the subject of hyper-inflation I've just finished reading ( am a slooow reader ) a 1985 book called How To Beat The Coming Hyper-Inflation by a couple of Canadian writers. They called it completely wrong, hadn't a clue about property bubbles, but one of the authors had some entertaining tales travelling through Spain, Italy, Israel, Argentina and Mexico. He got an interview with the then Florence Professor of Economics called Mario Draghi and a chat with a high Argentine official who disclosed that in 1983 they printed 68% of all national government expenditure that year ( inflation was 14-20% a MONTH in ARG that year ).
That made me go 'WOW', espcially as in 1945 they were close to the world's richest country having sold beef and grain and fed the world for the previous few years. Exchange controls, OPEC having way more power than now, US dollar prices for hotel rooms remaining fixed while the shekel price went up by 1-2 a week - some things were different. But spending anticipated revenues, govt over-spending in general, widespread evasion by a distrusting public - some things are the same. Not recommended as a book on hyper-inflation, but fun to read. |

@ obviously not bongo
The best pay-ops operations are also the ones who achieve their objective and move on. To summarize, you lost your way one day and stumbled on here. For reasons only known to your very sick mind, you decided to stick your little winnie in a meat grinder. The result was predictable. Like a wounded animal, all you've done every since is try to re-write history and keep sticking your little winnie in the same meat grinder, over and over again, to prove that it doesn't hurt. Some traps are forever…….especially the one's set in someone's mind. You need to find a way to get Menelaus out of your head and give yourself some peace. @ bongo I haven't read the book you posted about but based on your description what the authors describe is not hyperinflation. Belarus experienced vicious inflation the last three of years (nearly 300pc - check the USD/BYR cross chart 2009/12) but did not experience hyperinflation. Hyperinflation is not a monetary event. If you haven't read it already, I recommend Adam Ferguson's excellent book on the Weimar hyperinflation incident "When Money Dies". |

Where is the tsunami Melly?
Come on son. You can do it. |

By:
The clock is ticking Melly.
|

By:
Thanks for the book recommendation Menelaus - will get back in a few months when have read it ( assuming I can understand it, smiles ).
So when ARG had inflation of around 700% a year ( 14-20% a month ), that was extremely brutal inflation ( the money printed still had some value as an instrument of exchange or trade albeit rapidly decreasing ), but it was NOT hyperinflation. Is that close to the correct usage? |
|
By:
Bongo
As with most things the problem with Melly is that he will tell you that there is only one answer and unsurprisingly that is his. There is no universally accepted definition of a hyperinflationary event but there are some factors which many see as usually being present. Some mathematical types seek to put a number on it so that if inflation exceeds X then they class it as hyperinflation. A common one is 50% per month. It could be argued that to some extent this misses the point. Rather than a mathematical or even monetary event it could be construed as an emotional one which amongst other things involves what is essentially a repudiation of the unit of currency in the country by the populace. |
|
By:
On the other hand it could be argued that at its heart it is always and everywhere a type of monetary event.

Sorry to see that your question was buried under noise. The stuff our resident psychopath is posting trying to impress (but all it does really is reveal that he is all fluff and no substance regurgitating various widely published ideas but having no opinion of his own) is tabloid level drivel. Hyperinflation is not a monetary event, therefore trying to define it with mathematical parameters is a waste of time. All the psychopath is doing is parroting something he read in a magazine somewhere. His second paragraph partly touches on the truth but has so many holes in it, it could be used as a sieve for straining spaghetti. Weasel phrases like "it could be construed", "among other things" blah, blah, bull sh1t, take away from anything positive that can be taken from it. Read the book I recommended. Then you'll realize that the annual inflation figures you quoted, with numbers and you evidently consider so amazing, were taking place in the span of virtually every few hours in the Weimar case once the **** broke. Hyperinflation is not a monetary event, and contrary to popular belief, it's not "very high inflation". Hyperinflation is complete loss of faith in a fiat currency, with those who have it trying to get rid of it as soon as possible to acquire goods, and those with goods to sell jacking the price up so high and so often as to make the purchase of those goods virtually impossible. And then not available at any price but only available through barter of goods for goods. Take your cue from Mr. Ferguson's title for his brilliant piece of research and book, in hyperinflation..........MONEY DIES. |

Come come my good man. Surely someone as inebriated with his own verbosity as you are is capable of answering a little question?
Where is the tsunami Melly? It isn't a difficult one but it is perfectly illustrative of why you are such a bulbous bellend. Take your time. Not too much though. There is a tsunami coming. Apparently. |
