Cirstea's first ever slam win was at the French open 2008 against Kremer, she was then doubled bagelled by Azarenka in the next round  Cirstea's first ever US Open win was against Safarova in 2008, she lost the next round to Kuznetsova, a year before she lost round 1 qualies against wildcard Riske. |

never really thought about official retirements, even Serena never really officially retired at the US Open, she said something like it's goodbye for now

She's been quite clear that the decision is final, despite playing better tennis than ever before.
She must be of strong principles because she's leaving a lot of money on the table, by not playing next year with that ranking and form. But I can respect that. |

I would prefer if she did actually retire this year, as realistically, it's not going to get better than this year, a good way to out, finally breaking top 20 after all these years. She has a big hitting game, always felt there was at least 1 slam semi in her.

But yeah as a fan, her staying true to her plan will be the best ending instead of going out with a whimper when injuries or Father Time take a toll on her.

Think she will, must have enough money in the bank never to have to work again, can coach or start an academy as well, though will probably start a family.

Men more likely to retire as harder toll on their bodies, and in slams, they have the daunting idea of pushing possibly 5 sets on a niggle.
