Ruse led 6-2,5-0 in the WTA125 qualification. Now 6-2,5-7.

Was on the verge of going down 0-2 in the final set, but turned it around and now leads 5-1.

Had wondered why Siegemund played with short socks instead of her trademark long socks lately. Turns out Zvonareva stole them from her, which might also explain why they don't play doubles together anymore.

Without diving into the whole sorry Sabalenka affair the lesson is surely that the tour should have some kind of discretionary provision for when a player (especially one of their highest profile highest ranking stars) has to deal with a sudden 'black swan' event heading into a tournament where she's defending QF points. This has been a mess.

Didn't play any worse than the past one and a half months.

Not really the point though. It threw a needless harsh tabloid spotlight on an emotional situation (also for the family etc), it put Paula in a horrid situation that even got extended by a day. Would any of the other top players really ahve complained if there had been some kind of mechanism that gave her 2-3 weeks to get a bit of a break from the tennis bubble without losing ground.
Anyway the world can now get back to focusing on the tennis power couple (Demon and KT) and fretting about Vera stealing socks. |

The third Noskova vs Iga showdown of the year (I mean some players don't play each other three times in five years) and this should be a tighter affair than IW. Dutching Noskova to win a set at 3.85 and to win the match at a stupendous 12s seems the way to go. Leylah played some great stuff in her last match (albeit she was perspiring more than usual) and I think she's too big at 3.55 against a JPeg who still isn't convincing in 2024. Add in Kalinskaya and Collins for a Hail Mary mugtiple at 70-1

Crocked canadian players update. Vicky Mboko today played (and won
) her first ITF match since October (recovering from knee injury). Andreescu has said she's feeling better but hasn't set any date for a return to court. Leylah and Marina have been getting the headlines but Bibi's really the tacit figurehead of the Canadian girls isn't she. The sooner she's back the better. |

Go Sori!

Leylah broke to go 5-3 up in the first set, couldn't close it out and lost the set.
Broken early in set 2 but now breaks back for 3-3. She can do it, come on. |

Murray markets keep confusing me. Today clear underdog against Tomas Machac.

JPeg played pretty well at the end but that first set was Leylah's for the taking.
Ah well at least there are no niggles. Onto the clay season for LAF. |

well it's a long shot, but Griekspoor is currently 3 games away from taking Sinner out and that would help. Plus A LOT of other things need to fall in place.
